I stopped in here back in September because of the lawn sign advertising hotdogs. I went in and ordered three hotdogs, one with chili, the other two just plain. I was charged just under $13. The price has me wondering what the hell is going on so I look at the menu board and see I've been over charged. I say nothing. My hotdogs come out and I am even more surprised now to see that I was paying just under $13 for what amounted to three ball park franks and I'm not even at a sporting arena! I unwrap the chili dog and see that it would have had more chili if someone applied it by sneezing on it with a mouthful of chili and I finally say to the person behind the counter, are you sure this is what you're charging me X dollars for. He looks at the register tape, looks at the hotdogs and says...."Yup". I said you gotta be kidding me. I push the hot dogs over to him and say that I hope my $13 was worth it as I'll never set foot in here again and then I walked out.
Afterwards I called the store and asked to speak with the owner. The person that answered said he was the owner and I recognized the voice as the person who was at the register and asked if they were one and the same. He said yes. I asked what do you think you're doing?! You over charge me for three tiny hotdogs and then I give you the opportunity to rectify your mistake and instead you think it best to continue with the fraud?? He tells me he usually doesn't have a problem with the hotdogs, everyone likes them. I said my issue is not with how delicious the hotdogs may or may not be, it's that I was over charged, then ridiculously shorted on the toppings I already paid more than their own menu board stated I should have AND that he had the chance to make it right but instead continued on as if everything was status quo. He told me he was sorry, he had a lot on his mind and that's where I ended the conversation. There was no offer to come back and have my lunch at the correct price or anything.
As a result of having no lunch I stopped at a restaurant further down the road in Thomaston and purchased three more hotdogs, costing me less than $9 total and walked out with three foot long hotdogs. And no aggravation. Such a shame. My continued business is worth a hell of a lot more than $12 and change if the hotdogs were actually as delicious as claimed. read more
