Most of the reviews here for a one time service. I hired Miguel's crew to do my yard. A smaller yard in town. I have been injured for more than six months, had a multitude of injuries and issues and needed somebody to do my landscaping. I was desperate. I appreciate what they did. It wasn't exactly what I wanted, but I was happy to have it finished. Then they started coming regularly. I have decorative rocks that were blown all into my grass, all the bark that was in one of the spaces in the yard. blown away. I have to preface. I was away from the house at the time. I wasn't able to see what was being done or to even have a look immediately following them doing the yard. There was no regularity to when they came. I kept in touch via text messaging. I had to cancel a few times because the entire yard was muddy from all the rain. And then nobody showed up. When I texted back multiple times to find out what was going on I was then told Miguel would have to come out and give another estimate. No information with regard to the fact that they wouldn't be coming out. They showed up one time when I had let them know that it was muddy. And Miguel was charging me $100 per day of service. To attempt to service here when it's muddy, there's really nothing they can do. I kept in contact, they did not. Miguel had to give me a second number if I wanted a response. I guess when you're quoting a job and looking for a one time situation, it's a lot easier to make that come to fruition to have consistency. Very disappointed with the continuity of this company, and their cost was almost double any other landscaper in the area. I wanted somebody to responsibly look after my yard when I was absent. Alta Vista removed 11 trees from my large suburban yard. Half of the trees were 50' or taller, and one tree was 100'. Miguel came to bid the job when he said he would. They quickly provided a detailed bid for services, including pictures of each tree and accurate identification of species. I chose them based on low bid price and perception of dependability based on quick responses. The job started and finished exactly when they said it would. I did not have the stumps ground because I am having them removed later when I redo the yard. The power got knocked out when a branch from the 100' tree dropped, but someone stayed until 8 pm to ensure smud restored the power. There were a couple of small stray branches left behind in the yard, but nothing I couldn't easily handle. Best value for tree removal. read more

They were quick to respond to my original request for installing a block retaining wall. However; the pricing I received was not for the scope of work I outlined and provided. They did not respond to follow-up e-mails requesting revised pricing and color samples of the block for the retaining wall. All I received was a note that they were too busy. Well, I,m too busy too looking for another contractor. 2/4/24 - Meg. When Miguel came to estimate the job. I gave him a drawing along with a scope of work. When I received the pricing, I called Miguel and asked him to stop by to review. This is when he told me he didn't price it per my drawing and also did not include the wall cap block. The original price of $12k for 176lf of 24inch high wall. His revised price added $7k for only 24lf of added wall. That's $291/ft vs the $68/ft originally quoted. That's called gouging and I have a right to question that and bring it to your attention to which neither you or Miguel responded. As far as samples, I have two communications to Miguel asking for samples of the Basalite product I chose from the catalog he gave me. He never brought them! Instead he brought a block from anther company that was too large for the conditions of the project. A complete waste of time! I'm actually happy this didn't work out as I don't believe your firm is qualified to do the work. I also don't like price gouging and warn others to be careful when reviewing your pricing. read more

Alta Vista has come out twice to cut down large/tall trees on our property in Placerville. They fell the trees exactly as planned with no damage to the surrounding oaks and pines. They cut all the trees in fire wood lengths. Miguel came out promptly to give us a bid, scoped out the trees that needed to come down and discussed our concerns. Never heard anything again until I text you recently and you said sunday at 5pm. Since not too many people work on sundys at 5pm, I asked you to confirm that, to make sure you did not mean Saturday as was the time of our previous schedule. You replied by saying you did not want this job. why couldn't you contact me and say you were stuck with a job and will get back to me, instead of scheduling twice and finally passing on it? I cannot say enough about Miguel and his crew from Alta Vista. I sought out 7 bids to remove a big oak tree from my property. I was very discouraged about the high prices that were being bid. Yes the tree was very large, but the prices seemed exorbitant. Miguel was very prompt and polite in our communications, and the Alta Vista crew was out here this past week to remove the tree. They were safety conscious, diligent hard workers, and very respectful of my surrounding landscape and my neighbor's property (which needed to be accessed for the job).
