This is 5 camping for sure. It was so nice rolling up and not having to set anything up. The kitchen was fully stocked and extremely clean. Our bell tent was so clean, really cute, and extremely comfortable. The beds are platform beds with comfortable pillows and mattresses. The temp dipped to 30° at night and we were warm and never even felt the wind blowing. As for my two kids (11 & 14,) they each had a tree tent they never wanted to leave. We loved Eagles Nest. It was clean, spacious and private. These sites are the best ones in the campground and some of the nicest that I've ever seen. It was such a beautiful, relaxing and stress free camping trip. I'm a "Real camper" but my wife and two kids aren't so its nice to have glamping amenities and still be in nature. It great only having to bring food water! The 3 elevated tents were fun and the big tent with beds and heater were so nice on a cooler evening. We also enjoyed the hiking trails and seeing the vistas from the world famous Pacific Crest Trail. Our camp host, Shantel was informative and helpful. read more

Where to start?!? Alter Experiences has changed the way we will camp forever! Having been a camper all my life, it has been pushed by the wayside due to all the prep and packing. Alter Experiences takes all that away! We stayed at the Blue Jay Nest and it was amazing. I almost don't want to write this review so I can keep this a little more secret- hahaha! Everything you need, and more is right there at your site upon arrival. Full kitchen, cooking utensils, a Blackstone and camp stove. It was perfect. The bell tents made you feel warm and cozy at night offering great protection from the elements. We had wind and rain while we were there and spent a lot of time in our tent. The hammock, the tree tent and tree house were perfect for the kids ( we had 6 kids ages 5-13) and kept them busy while we were at the campsite. Super close to the FLUSHABLE toilets and shower...this is GLAMPING for sure. We had a great weekend and are already planning your next stay. Shantel and Rami are amazing hosts! Very thoughtful, check in with you each day and even brought a Julian Apple pie to my wife for her birthday! I booked this amazing glamping trip for my dad and husband for a Father's Day gift and we took our two kiddos, ages 4 and 6. We stayed at the Blue Jay site and it was even better than the photos. We felt like we were the only ones at the campground! The kids loved the large hammocks (that felt more like trampolines!), tree swing and of course the s'mores. We loved having everything already there and set up and, of course, the super comfy beds as well as nearby plumbed bathrooms and showers. My hubby and I also enjoyed renting mountain bikes for the day from our hosts (Shantel and Rami were amazing)! We're beginner riders and had a great time riding around the nearby lake. My dad and I were able to hike a section of the nearby Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). We will definitely be back! read more

So disappointed to leave this review. I booked a weekend here about 6 months ahead of time. The first red flag was reaching out then to honor a discount code they were running on instagram the day after I booked, and got zero response. I emailed 2 questions prior to our stay, also didn't hear back. When we arrived, I was told there would a tour and a host would meet us. No one was there. We went to the host of the campsite and they told us they don't give tours or help people who book through this company. I made sure to book a tent with a heater in it. As it's cold at night and we were bringing our 1 year old. First night the heater stopped working at midnight and we were unable to relight it. We ended up leaving the campsite at 3am and driving home. Thank god we only leave 1 hour away. But we couldn't let our 1 year old sleep in 50 degrees. I got an email that morning from the host asking how things went the first night and I explained the above situation. ZERO RESPONSE. No acknowledgment, nothing. I gave it a week and sent another email asking if they were receiving my emails, again no response. Super unfortunate. When things go wrong, that's when a response is required. Not just to ask us if we need the two twin beds or the queen. Would not recommend. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Lions Den with two of our friends and their families (8 total) for two nights recently. We all had a great time and were really impressed with everything that was set up and provided for by Alter Experiences. It also gave us a chance to try out some gear and games to see if we would want to purchase them for ourselves (I loved the Luci solar lanterns and the water bag is really convenient for hand and dish-washing). Even though I had looked at their website and read the informative email from Shantel several times after making the reservation, we still packed a lot of "just in case" things, most of which turned out to be unnecessary and unused. Since we had three vehicles and the site only has space for two, we opted to pay for the regular campsite across the "road" rather than park it further away in the overflow lot. It's always nice to have your car nearby and it was worth the price difference ($28 per night for the campsite, but 1/2 off if you have an Interagency Military/Veterans Pass vs $10 per night for the overflow lot). Make sure to bring cash or a check if you have more than two vehicles. You pay the campground host or self-service fee tube for those, not Alter Experiences. The whole Lions Den site was bigger than I anticipated, and also pretty secluded considering it's part of a public Forest Service campground. The bell tent with a queen bed and sofa bed is tucked away in the trees at the back of the site and very private. One of the 3-person families slept there. The lounge tent with the two sofa beds is more in the open at the outer edge of the "main" area and is where the other family slept. Both families said the bell tents were comfy and spacious. One had trouble restarting the propane heater after they had to change tanks during the first night, so the husband hooked up a bigger tank he'd brought from home and it lasted the whole second night. My husband and I slept in a 2-person tree tent together the first night, but because of his snoring and me rolling into him (because he's heavier), I grabbed two of the extra sleeping bags that we'd brought with us and moved into the top of the two-story tent for the second night. It was VERY comfortable up there. I wish we had slept separately the first night too (lol). I was a bit worried about navigating the strap ladder for a middle-of-the-night nature call, so we put a cooler underneath the portal before I went to bed and used that as a step stool which worked out well. While we had planned to do some hiking during our stay, we were having such a great time visiting under the oaks and pine trees and the kids were having such a blast playing in the huge hammock, that we stayed at the site and enjoyed the scenery and each other's company the whole time. The kitchen was well-equipped and made meal prep and cooking easy, the slackline was fun for the kids and adults, and the campfire was perfect to tell stories and toast marshmallows around (sticks are provided) underneath the starry sky at night. We all agreed that it was an amazing experience and we hope to make it an annual trip! read more

We just had the most amazing glamping experience in Cleveland National Forest! Alter experience made everything so easy, we just had to show up with our cooler and clothes! EVERYTHING was set up and ready. Solar lights made getting around the camp at night easy and safe. The tents were huge and beautifully decorated, and extremely cozy. Mattresses were soft, pillows were perfect, and everything was extremely clean. The kitchen tent had everything we needed to prepare and cook! Coffee, tea, French press, seasonings, cookware, and so much more. Teens had a blast, playing instruments, laying in the tree hammocks, chilling in the tree tent, and connecting with each other and nature. Our camp host, Rami, definitely made us feel like family and made sure all our needs were met. The electric bicycles were amazing and fun to cruise around the campground effortlessly. Unforgettable experience at the Fox Den in Mount Laguna! The location is amazing, the tents are pristine, the staff is unbelievably kind and helpful, the set up is greater than what you expect for a camping location, and the tree hamocks were really our favorite part, with such a stunning views made a wonderful experience. Such a great way to camp/glamp. Everything really was great, the space with all the amenities and the many tables and camp kitchen were so helpful. The kids loved the double decker tree tent. We appreciated the little touches - umbrella over picnic table, lights around the canopies and tents, the condiments & coffee/tea/sugar provided, the toiletries - all very appreciated. The yurt style tents are beautiful inside, just like the pictures. Do continue to dress warmly in cool weather though, while there are heaters in the tents, it's still outdoor camping and the heaters only last so long on the propane tanks. Lots of blankets are provided, as well as towels for the on-site coin operated showers. Anything I thought we ran out of (we didn't, I just didn't look in the right place for the back-up), they were happy to provide to us. read more

We just spent the weekend camping at Laguna Campground in the Blue Jay Nest site with Alter Experiences and it was fantastic. The site is beautiful and very private- you don't see any other sites and it's next to big trees and an open field. The site is incredibly clean with a great kitchen tent with everything you need. The beds are super comfortable and there are plenty of warm blankets. The tree tents and hammocks are a huge hit with kids. The hosts are wonderful- great communication and they explained everything we needed to know. We had trouble with one of the propane attachments for the griddle and they immediately came to fix it. Everything was great. The nearby bathrooms are clean and have warm water and flushing toilets. The bike trails are fun. The nearby Outpost restaurant made for an easy dinner one night and the food was great. Alter Experiences allowed us to have a wonderful weekend with three families (6 adults, 5 kids) creating great memories and it was SO easy. All the best of camping without the hassles. read more

This is one of those places that I almost hesitate to review because I selfishly don't want it to get too popular! I celebrated a milestone birthday at Eagles Nest with my family. My two teenage daughters, their two friends and my friend and I all had a wonderful time in the Tentsile tents at Mount Laguna! What a novel camping experience! My favorite part was everything was set up and thought of for us so I didn't have to plan, pack, set up or tear down camp. Stayed in Blue Jay Camp during the winter season. It was our first time Glamping and if you're down to splurge this is definitely worth the extra money. The entire place is set up for you including full beds, solar lights, seating, and kitchen. As someone who's worked in hospitality I was impressed by the spectacular attention to detail... Shantel insured we had everything we needed from hot cocoa to board games, and even heaters for our tent. This is an ideal trip for a group of people who want a quick and easy wilderness get away without any of the hassle of set up and breakdown. The Laguna Campground where we stayed is beautiful and is an easy walk to a stunning field with hiking trails. Our site #35 was on the edge of the grounds and made for a relatively private experience, we only had one neighbor, and the forest directly behind us. Would definitely do this again! read more

We stayed in the Blue Jay Nest in November and had a wonderful time. The bell tents were clean and very roomy, and the beds were warm and comfortable. The family favorite was the giant hammock where we would relax during the day, and bundle up at night to lay on for some star gazing. Other friendly campers strolling by inquired with envy about the suspended tents and hammock. Everything you need was provided in the kitchen in addition to cookware. There was coffee, tea, hot cocoa, a cutting board, plates, utensils, paper towels, foil, etc.. There was even a wash station set up and toiletries provided. The campground itself was sparkling clean and the bathrooms were better than expected for a campground. The owners were helpful and responsive. We would definitely recommend this unique glamping experience and hope to visit again soon. read more

We have been tent camping and trailer camping for many years but this was our first "Glamping" experience- and boy were we impressed! The host sent detailed emails so that we knew what to expect and met us on site to give us a tour. We had everything we needed! Everything was so clean and orderly- it is evident they take great care of their site and campers. The host even checked in on us after the first night to see if we needed anything else. The kids loved the tree tents, and relaxing on the open hammock lounge was definitely a highlight for the adults. If you visit in the fall, I recommend bringing some additional heavy blankets to have on hand. We had some very cold nights, and although we had nice propane heaters in our bell tents, I was glad to have the extra blankets as well. We will definitely be planning another trip! read more

This is my second time staying at Eagles Nest. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a fun and comfortable glamping experience. Shantel is a very friendly, kind, and knowledgeable host. She was very responsive and communicative when I had any questions before and during my trip. My son and I really enjoy lounging on the tree tents and cooking up on some pancakes on the Blackstone griddle. There is a French press, coffee, spices, utensils and pretty much everything you need to cook up a nice meal. The tents are clean, nicely decorated, and the beds are comfortable and clean. The location and overall campground is very peaceful and clean. There is access to the Pacific Crest Trail for some hiking and Julian and Lake Cuyamaca are a short drive away if you are looking to venture out the campsite. WOW, just WOW!!! That's all I could say while we were given the campsite tour by Shantel. The pictures online don't do the site justice. Everything is well planned out, set up, and the space is utilized to maximize your experience. My kiddos and I stayed at Burnt Rancheria this past weekend for TrailFest and we had been excited/looking forward to it since we booked it back in July. We had never been camping, so we were nervous. We forgot to pack a few key items, and guess what? Shantel and Rami already them them at the site for us! I would give Alter Experiences a 10 star review if I could. The only thing now is that any future camping trip for my family will fail in comparison, because this set the bar way high! Tree tents were awesome and kids were heartbroken to leave. The bell tent accommodation was top notch and had absolutely everything you could need and more. It was a very cold weekend, there was a space heater inside the bell tent. The bed was comfy, blankets and sleeping bags were nice and warm. The fire pit and lounge set up was perfect. Throughout the weekend, Shantel and Rami were very attentive and welcoming. They made sure we were comfortable and having the greatest experience. I could tell that to them it's not just about building a business, it's more about being hospitable and wellness for others. Just stayed at the Alter Experiences Blue Jay Nest campsite in Laguna. What an incredible experience! Rami was hands down the best host of anywhere I've ever ever stayed. He was always available (he's near the campsites during the day) and asked several times if we needed anything whenever we passed by. The site itself was amazing. They truely thought of everything! Besides the beautifully appointed tents, the hammock, slack line, and trillium hammocks were perfectly situated for maximum fun with friends and family. There were even lanterns, extra blankets, games, cards, bath towels, a shower caddy filled with high quality shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. They offer electric bike rentals as well, which was so much fun! Great place for a cheap price - think of it was "all inclusive camping" to take away all the stress of packing. Prior to arriving at the site, shantel always kept in contact w us/ making sure off our arrival so she can have the place cleaned and ready. Upon reaching the site- shantel came within 30m to greet us and update me what's to expect. The site was spotless and ready to be occupied. I have no complaints and hope to continue to pass good referral to everyone I encounter. I do have suggestions for the rookies campers if shantel can provide for them 1) bug/mosquito lamp to help zap the night flyers 2) pointers and instructions on how to make a bond fire 3) some rope ladders for the side tree tent so kids can climb up 4) some simple hammocks beside the center ones Overall, can beat this place for the price we paid Thanks Troy read more
