I am so blessed to live near one of San Diego's most beautiful golf courses, San Vicente Resort, nestled in the heart of the county in the small town of Ramona! While I often dine at their fantastic chef-driven restaurant, sometimes I just enjoy the simplicity of their resort snack bar. Catering to golfers and swimming families, the snack bar is open to the public daily. Only a two-minute drive from home, I love the serenity of the covered patio with a stunning view of the 9th hole. Most recently I ordered a "Polish Dog" which was outstanding. Polish Dogs are typically made from a combination of pork and beef which yields a meatier texture and rich depth of flavor. Much more substantial than what you'd experience in an average hot dog. Includes your choice of toppings, I usually choose a more traditional selection of mustard, onions, or sauerkraut. The snack bar features a nice variety of hot & cold breakfast and lunch items, snacks, adult beverages, plus soft serve in the summer time. read more

12/24/2023 Had an amazing dinner at San Vincente Resort restaurant this evening. Isabel was our server extraordinaire and was not only professional but also a positive and wonderful person. My wife and I started with Don Julio Blanco, club soda, three limes muddled and some mint, and then ordered BBQ salmon, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. So delicious and wonderfully presented. We are in San Diego on vacation. My husband and his best friend decided to play one last time before we left. They found a hot deal for $55 with a tee time of 2:08 pm. We arrive at the course. My husband buys some balls and pays to play. My husband says that we will need another golf cart because his wife is with him. They charge us $22 to use a golf cart while they literally have 22 just sitting open, clean, and ready to go. I do not mind paying to ride on a golf cart when the course if busy and using a golf cart is costing them money... but when the course is completely dead... they should just be glad someone wanted to play at 2:08 pm. read more

Stayed here for a 4th of July weekend. Nice little getaway at this golf resort during a golf tournament. The room is spacious, my room on the second floor has a high ceiling, and a balcony with chairs and table and with a view that oversees the golf course and mountains. It has a mini refrigerator and an single cup coffee machine. Places to visit around here is town of Julian and Barcelona Casino. Quiet secluded area away from the city life in the city of Ramona. Will definitely think about staying here again when in the area. read more

Rooms are nice and clean however the walls are very thin, on the lower level you can hear EVERYTHING from the people above us. From the loud pounding of their feet walking back & forth was annoying to the closing of every door. What I didn't like is the pool and hot tub are inconveniently located alllll the way at the end of the resort, opposite of the rooms. Plus they don't offer pool towels so you have to use your room towels. Very disappointed as I wanted to relax in the hot tub but it was filled with a bunch of 20yr olds horse playing in the pool and being loud. The hot tub area was cluttered with all their belongings all around the area. Yuck. So disappointing, expected better. read more

The light switches in the room were dirty. The shower curtain smelled like mold. The backslash over the sink was nasty. I sat at the for over 10 minutes before a bartender acknowledged me. Drinks and food are overpriced. This "resort" was really expensive to stay. I wasn't impressed. The view from the room overlooking the golf course was nice. read more

What a great place to stay! Options are limited in the area so family that lives in the area suggest San Vicente while we were visiting. San Vicente is clean, staff is friendly and the you can't beat the pricing for an overnight stay. Our room was spacious and comfortable but the real bonus for us was the patio. A very large patio that faces the hills and golf course was key to our enjoyment since we are smokers. Upon check in, we were given an envelope with coupons for the restaurant - $4 off. We didn't ever use them since we ate off site. One odd thing was that if using the pool, you can only be at the pool for one hour and then you must leave so they can sanitize. We never went to the pool so we don't know exactly how that worked. And we aren't golfers so can't rate the course. All in all, it was an ideal place for us to spend the night while in the area. read more

We attended a wedding at the San Vicente Resort, so we booked a room for the night. We really enjoyed our stay and the room was more than adequate. Nothing too spectacular, but it was plenty large and clean. It featured a large mini-fridge which we used and a single cup coffee maker. The bathroom was clean and stocked. We liked the additional sink in the little "kitchenette" area between the room and the bathroom. The A/C was cold and quiet and the bed was comfortable. We loved the private balcony with a great view of the golf course. Checking in was a breeze and Terri at the check-in counter was very friendly and very accommodating. She even provided us with extra coffee pods and let us check in early so we could get ready for the wedding. Free parking! We would definitely consider San Vicente Resort again for a weekend staycation. read more

I recently had a very pleasant stay at the San Vicente Resort and Lodge. The spacious, comfortable rooms are a big step up from a typical hotel room. Wood floors, comfortable bed, and a great balcony overlooking the golf course. Beyond the comfort of the room, the helpful accommodating staff goes above and beyond. One of the guys that manages the golf course kicked us off the golf course by stealing our keys right from the ignition and yelled saying we were trespassing and to "get the hell out of here". There were NO signs anywhere around the golf course that says no trespassing. The gates all around the neighborhood are even open for golf carts. (As seen in PHOTO below). He was very old and very mean. We actually live here and we'll continue to be riding on the golf course :) If you're going to close the course, maybe remember to put up signs and close the entrances. The golf course is in great condition. It's been a couple years since I played here last and after this visit I look forward to coming back again soon. The greens were rolling nice and the fairways were in amazing shape. Head Pro Matt Brumbaugh and his team in the pro shop are very friendly and provide great customer service. The carts have GPS and the snack bar has a nice selection. My group had lunch after our round and the restaurant has a nice selection of local craft beers and the menu has a variety of tasty options. I enjoyed the California Smash Burger with bacon and it was perfect! We will be back again soon! read more

We have been to this resort 2 times now. Both times we were unable to golf because the course was completely booked despite booking our resort stay over 6 wks ago. These guys cater to others while ignoring Resort stay guests. Don't call yourself a Golf Resort if guests staying at your resort are unable to book a tee time well in advance. Pro shop leaders need some lessons on just being respectful. read more

I have been going to this course for years and it has been nice, but the last two times sucked. The fairways are painted and T boxes are crap. But most of all the guy at the pro shop Fred was very unprofessional and rude only catering to the locals and there kids running amuck around the course. They DO NOT care if you stay there or not for preferred tee times. Don't waist your time here, I choose not to ever again. The rooms were just OK. Thanks Fred. So, looking to get it of the city and play a remote course. It could be nice enough if they weren't aerating the greens. Now don't get me wrong, everything needs a little maintenance down in the special areas... But the player should be informed and possibly compensated for the inconvenience of the sandy green and or stubble. Golf club of Cali did clean up it's private parts last week and charged half price. San V. Decided that it's shit is so good that people should pay the full $85 to play on stubble. Imagine putting in a sand trap. All fucking day! Last trip to this hole! read more

We have stayed here at least 3 other times and it was peaceful and quiet. We weren't informed during booking that the hotel is going through a remodel. Noisy electric sanding/drilling or something right outside our room that continued until 430pm. Woke us up at 730 with the same noise and very loud talking outside our room. Also main restaurant is closed. When I called to complain there was no apology or offer to switch our room away from the construction. Nice place to stay but wait until construction is complete. read more

The employees at the front desk were extremely helpful and did everything right... unfortunately the ownership and/or the GM need to address 2 issues. Housekeeping was great. First, there is no sign or direction on where to go to check in to the hotel room. I had to call the main line of the resort to find out where to check in. The only sign that clearly stood out was for the Pro Shop. Secondly - even though the bed was clean, the surfaces were clean... the carpet was absolutely in need of a deep shampooing. It was vacuumed- well - but incredibly filthy. I showered and walked around the room with bare feet and went to bed. I got up in the morning and stepped into the damp shower to collect my shampoo and was shocked to see how dirty my footprints were. I spot checked the tile floor - which was perfectly clean - so the filth could only have come from the carpet! Management is in charge of carpet shampooing- housekeeping usually only vacuums. I really wanted to give my stay more stars... but I just can't after seeing the dirt come off my feet from the carpet. read more

Staying here as I write and we are enjoying the place. Room is on bottom floor so we hop Over patio wall to take a walk on the Golf course that is directly in front of us. Very nice views and very peaceful as well. The restaurant here has great pizza and pasta, we had it last night, fish n chips tonight perhaps. We're gonna take in the town of Julian, which is up the road, for their famous pie. The Town of Ramona near here, has everything you need when it comes to supplies and food. read more

I came in to book a room as I have done MANY TIMES in the past but this time was much different.. walked in didn't get a greeting or even a hello, I waited about three minutes up at the desk before i was finally acknowledged. i've booked rooms many times in the past and noticed i've never seen the girl who was "helping me" get my room.. she was very confused and she made it seem as it was an inconvenience for her to book me my room.. to top it off we ended up w the wrong room key! Great room, If it was 1987. Pros: clean, quiet, pretty golf course, cold a/c, very very nice staff. Cons: rooms are outdated and the sheets were scratchy and had those little pilly balls sheets get after a thousand washes and the soap made me feel really dry. And, $100 / night hold for incidentals is the highest I've seen. There wasn't a need for such a high charge. The only thing I could come up with is perhaps they've had rowdy golfers who trashed the rooms... Overall, eh. read more

Love this golf course! It's always gorgeous and well maintained. Beautiful, colorful flowers, plants and huge oak trees are found throughout the course. (Next time, I have to get some shots of the trees and their aged beauty. They really provide needed shade in the summer time.) I appreciate that the five or so water spots are pretty nice, not mucky and murky. Yes, and I just had to donate a few in that lovely water today! I really love the cactus arrangements especially when the flowers are blooming. They're amazing! The flora and the fauna are quite a site at San Vicente as there are wild turkeys that roam this place and we usually see some whenever we come. This last round there was a mommy turkey (hen) and her chicks (poults) hanging out. So cool and cute! Later on at another hole we drove up to see a hen just sauntering across our green like she owned the place. Fun foto op for me! Usually we play on a week day, but yesterday we played on a Saturday expecting it to be slammed. We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed one of our favorite, most relaxing rounds we've ever played over the years! No pressure pace and the weather was perfect. Super sweet. Don't know if it was a typical Saturday, but it sure makes us want to come back same time! So we love the big wide fairways and carpet-like greens. The holes have a good variety of fun and challenging shots. Enough trouble to look out for, but still very enjoyable. I'd give 5 stars for quality and value, but have a few reasons why I can't. Would be convenient to have a snack cart for the players out on the course. Seems this resort course would have one. And if we didn't have to drive Wildcat Canyon road to get there we'd play it more often. It would also be nice to have a GPS on the carts, but not too big a deal since I use an app on my iPhone XR. It's mostly convenient for the hub. Other than this, if you can splurge and have travel time, it's very worth the drive! read more

Finally made it back!.................After things opened up on June 15th we did a "Stay and Play" the weekend of July 23rd. Had another couple from Atlanta join us and it was their first time there. Let's start off by saying they loved it! Especially Walt who is also an avid golfer and absolutely loved the course and he has played great courses all over the country. Much more challenging though with the new greens that are too young to hold a lot of approach shots and the new Bunkers were brutal with heavy sand and surrounding most of the holes. Now to the food........We didn't have one bad meal and everything was amazing for our 3 days and 2 nights. Breakfast was off the hook good with their great Eggs Benedict and Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs. Lunch is also great with awesome Burgers and the best onion rings I think we have ever had! Their Club Sandwich was amazing along with their Chicken Tenders. For Dinner they have great Fish and Chips but the Prime Rib was a little disappointing as not much flavor and a bit tough. Finally the whole staff from the front desk to the servers in the Restaurants and Bar were a 10 out of 10! Always with a smile and great service! San Vicente used to be the best kept secret for a "Staycation" in San Diego county thanks to so many good reviews. Hope they keep their rates reasonable! What a gem! Im just looking for a change of scenery for a rainy Saturday afternoon in SD and found this resort. We had dinner at the club house and kudos to the chef. As far as weddings go; Joyce, Mary Lou, & the San Vicente Golf Resort staff were incredible! Their hard-work, generosity, patience, & kindness gave us the most perfect wedding we could imagine! Everything was so easy, beautiful and stress-free! Not only is the venue gorgeous and affordable, it includes the ceremony, reception, delicious food, & the sweetest/most helpful coordinators (Joyce & Mary Lou)! General: We went right after some heavy rain, so I don't think I can blame the sogginess of the course on that. Still, there were some areas that could have been raked or at least trimmed a little more. We had a hard time looking for a few balls due to the mass amounts of leaves scattered around the course. Also, it would be REALLY great if every hole had a map at the beginning. I noticed hole 4 did (I think it was #4...) and then that was it. I really like seeing where it is I am supposed to be driving towards and not just hitting it on the fairway. Difficulty: Medium on all holes. Par 3, 4 and 5 holes. The hardest one is (I think it was...) hole 17 and 18, where you have to drive over a reed pond and a regular pond, otherwise you lose a ball. The rest of them were all unique and ranged from easy to hard. Good mix! Layout: A little odd sometimes. Driving across streets and watch out for hole 16! To get to it you gotta drive down a steep hill, I think my dad almost flipped the cart! It's a little confusing at first, but if I played regularly, I would know where all the holes are without a map. Price: I don't know what the price was because my dad paid! DOH! Sorry this is absolutely no help to anyone right now... haha! Overall: Cool course, would definitely like to play on it again in the future. I think the biggest downsides were the maps at the beginning of each hole and some of the holes needed some TLC. However, greens were nice and forgiving, play was casual and overall had a great time. Would recommend this course for all levels. read more

While the woman who checked me into the resort, the wait staff who served me dinner, the dinner itself, and the overall atmosphere were all quite nice, I noticed an elderly man in a cowboy hat scowl at me for no reason when I approached the desk and politely asked for instructions on reaching the hot tub. The same friendly woman who checked me in explained that I had left the key to the hot tub in my car, but, not to worry, she would give me replacement so I could go enjoy the warm water under an open sky. I did so, looking for signs indicating how long I could stay and soak. Seeing none, I was surprised to see the same seething old man in the cowboy hat wordlessly lock me in to the hot tub area shortly before 10:00 p.m. with an air of self-importance and satisfaction. After climbing over steel fences to escape this unnecessary confinement, I returned to the front desk to return the extra key that had been given to me by the friendly woman there. Seeing the rude old little man in the cowboy hat, I asked him in a friendly and polite matter what his name was, and he simply refused to tell me. The polite woman then, puzzled, then ask me if I had trouble finding the hot tub, and whether I had not had a soak after all. I then politely asked her if I had missed a sign explaining when the hot tub area might have closed. She and all behind the desk fell silent and fixed stolid gazes in my direction. I then explained to her that her instructions were excellent, that I found the pool and hot tub area, that I had enjoyed a soak, (all this as the rude little man had heard her instruct me to do since he was sitting next to her scowling at me for no reason whatsoever as she gave me those instructions) and that all experiences in this resort were quite fine except for the rude little man wordlessly locking me into a gated pool area despite my following her instructions to enjoy the hot tub. As I tried to explain this to her, the rude little man began to try to talk over me, at which point I thanked the woman again, returned the key card to her, wished them all a good night and left. Rudeness is never necessary, and if you too meet rude people at this business, I would suggest reporting your experience here so that others may avoid such trouble. read more

Stayed two nights on the Stay and Play package. The price was right. Don't let the low prices scare you away. This place is a great find. Quiet and relaxing with great staff and customer service. Maybe the rooms are a little outdated, and beware the top floor rooms have skylights that can make sleeping in tough. Challenging and fun golf course. Nice size pool for swimming laps, but the swim teams come late pm kind of take over, so time your swims. Heated pool, jacuzzi and kiddy pool. The lounge is great for lunch and dinner, and the cafe is great for breakfast. Though not on the menu, I asked for oatmeal and got it both mornings. Ordered chicken and waffles for the first time in my life and it was excellent. Full bar with lots of craft brews on tap. If you want crowds, lots of noise and expensive golf, you can stay at Barona Casino nearby. For peace and quiet and great stars at night, drive a little farther east to San Vicente. I am a bit late on this review so this review is based on our stay from just over a year ago. My wife and I stayed here for just one night. We had tee times in a Sunday morning tournament and we loved the course so much we played again Sunday afternoon. The room was nice, exactly what we expected based on the reviews and Yelp photos. The food at the restaurant was good and the service was also good. However, our favorite part of our stay was the golf course itself. I play weekly in Orange County and San Vicente was a nice change of pace. The course mood was relaxed, professional, and picturesque. Its the kind if course where you can have a beer, untuck your shirt, and have a nice time. Everyone on the course was respectful and the course was in great condition. We wished we lived closer to the course so we would play here every week. read more

My son lives in the San Diego estates community. I have wanted to play the golf course since he moved in 4 years ago. I live inCleveland Ohio so my visit here, my son another friend from Cleveland and my son booked a tee time for Friday February 10th. Because I was a guest , not a member or did not live in the estates, I was quoted $90 per person to play. I was able to book our tee times on GolfNow for $45.00 each. The course is laid out beautifully, however EVERY fairway is totally burned out or the grass is dormant for the winter months. Totally outrageous prices for the condition of the course. The green were very fast and whomever did the flag placements clearly has no idea where to put them. Most flags were on the side of a hill on the green. Ridiculous! I had a great time with my son and my friend, but this was one of the most poorly maintained courses I have played in a long time. Every Metro course I've played in the northeastern Ohio region, is far superior to San Vecente, Their grounds crew certainly has nothing to do there other than maintain the traps. If you enjoy hitting off dirt, then this is the place to play. Won't be going back anytime soon. read more

TL;DR: Rooms filthy and ant infestation = don't stay there, but the golf course, pool, and restaurant are nice. Ant-infestation in bathroom that we called to switch rooms and they rejected us because they were sold out and didn't have anyone to come clean our room for other guests. There were ant traps on the floors which is really unacceptable since I had small children and didn't want them poisoned. Instead, they sent the maintenance guy who quickly said that there weren't that many ants and that it's normal to have ants, but to watch out for the ants biting. He also didn't wear a mask which I really didn't appreciate. And when we talked to the front desk lady who was really nice and did what she could, she explained that it was southern California and there were always ants everywhere and inside all houses. I don't know why they would try to brush off having an ant problem as normal. We've been to So-cal and stayed in hotels dozens of times and I have never seen ants in a hotel room before. This may be a classic "you get what you pay for" situation. The food was good and most of the workers were really nice, but I couldn't get over having ants all over our bathroom. I had to do a spray down every time I walked into the bathroom. And just by visual inspection, you don't want to touch anything because the floors and surfaces are just filthy. The golf course, restaurant, and pool were nice, but I would never stay there again. read more

Even though we are in a pandemic, our daughter had to move nearby and we needed a place to stay. Check-in was distanced, and room was clean. I have concerns over use of the bed comforter as I know they aren't 'generally' washed between check-ins. Bed sheets were clean, but again another uncovered blanket was used. Bed itself was very hard, with little/no give, pillows are extra fluffy. This suits some people, not others. Outside patio viewing the golf course was nice. Golf course groomers blowing paths outside our patio at 6:30am was not. Not sure if we'll stay again when visiting our daughter next time as we found the bed too hard and uncomfortable. read more
