Only giving 3 stars due to my hair not coming out even close to what I wanted. I drove from Fort Hood to Belton due to reading the great reviews. I have light brown hair, and wanted ombre with it transitioning to blonde tips. When I was done, it looked like I stood in the sun. Although the lady explained that I stated that I wanted it "subtle", it looked nowhere near the picture. The haircut that she gave was on-point which is the reason for the 3 stars. Over-priced, especially because it looked like I just put some sun-in spray in my hair. Definitely will not be returning. read more

I have been going to Monica for several months now. I am really happy with the way my hair looks. I feel like it has never looked better. My hair is very curly and thick and it always felt bushy. Monica has hacked away at it until I feel comfortable for the first time in my life to be able to wear it down. It is still long and curly but whatever she did as far as cutting it, has made it manageable in a way that no other hairdresser has before. My color is also awesome and that's what initially I came to her about because I have so many grey hairs. When I saw girls at my work whose color I liked, I would ask them who they went to and the name Monica kept coming up. I am glad I gave her a shot:) read more

Monica has been doing my hair for so long. It's been at least 2 years. We have done a shag hair cut then we did a different cut up the back and long on the sides. I always had lots of compliments on the hair cut that was shaved up the back. Then I wanted to let it grow out and she has kept me encouraged to keep it growing out. Just left the salon, and couldn't wait to send a compliment. First time here didn't know what to expect, but entered to a very clean, friendly, relaxed environment. Girl at desk couldn't have been nicer! Offered my daughter (12 years old) and I something to drink the moment we entered, and again as we waited. Which was really a short wait considering we were a last minute appt. Kayla did an awesome job with my daughters hair! My daughter who swims on a swim team, has very long, dry and tangly hair. Unfortunately and to our embarrassment, she had a knot from hell. Kayla never once criticized or belittled her. She worked on that knot for a good while, she showed incredible patience! She was so warm and friendly, and my balayage turned out incredible. She was very attentive, always looking for a way to make me comfortable, including a foot rest during washing! I have been going to this salon for three years and usually have a great experience, however I've noticed a few not so great changes my last two visits. Instead of my usual stylist (who I booked my appointment with) I was met at the front desk by an "assistant" that said she was going to assist my stylist. She did a not very good hair wash (didn't even wash my scalp) and then brought me back to the chair and asked how I'd like my hair cut today. At that point I said, "I'm confused. I thought Sadie was cutting my hair today." The assistant then went and got my usual stylist. This assistant also ended up blow drying my hair and trying to sell me five different products while I was paying, even though I had already told her when I entered the salon that I didn't need any products. I'm not sure when Alter started having "assistants" do hair instead of the actual stylist that clients book their appointment with and pay for, but this is ridiculous and it's enough to make me look for a new salon. read more

Well, apparently these folks have too much business. My daughter had been going here quite regularly and liked the results. She would typically spend around seventy-five to a hundred bucks each time. So, my wife decided to make an appointment. She did, showed up at the right time, and they told her they had no record of the appointment. Mistakes happen, so she re-booked. About two weeks later on the morning of her appointment, they called about 7 hours before her set time and said they would have to cancel, no real reason offered, just something had unexpectedly come up. At this point, my wife REALLY needs a haircut. She gets the next available appointment for two days later. Again that particular morning, a phone call about 5 hours before her appointment saying that a last-minute emergency was forcing them to cancel again. They just lost two customers: my wife and my daughter. It's all good; they may have done a fine job. But we'll never know, because we're not ever going to give them the opportunity. They were very unprofessional in their appointment process multiple times. My wife made an appointment at Twisted Sisters Salon in Jarrell that same day, and she was really happy with the outcome, plus they were really nice and sincerely acted as if they appreciated her business. Three thumbs up for Twisted Sisters, highly recommended. read more

I moved to Texas and it is a task to be able to find someone who is really good at cutting hair. I have very thick hair and am picky about how it's cut. The reviews are why I scheduled with Talie. Writing on behalf of my wife and daughter. We've seen Talia before and she did a great job with our daughter and with eyebrows. Today we saw Sabrina for hair and it wasn't great. Communication seemed to be an issue. My wife was depending on the pro to help with achieving her desired look. In the end Sabrina got frustrated because she was offended at my wife's frustration, so she walked away. At some point there was a discussion about pricing and we were chastised for not scheduling a consultation appointment when in fact my wife visited prior to ask about pricing and scheduling, but it was not a separate consultation appointment. From our point of view the front desk should be able to discuss basic scheduling and pricing for each beautician and what they charge for services. While we are not regulars and don't know their system, I'm not sure how we would learn their systems without a customer service rep telling us. We ended up finishing with Kayla who recovered well. We were dissapointed with the management who was present but didn't seem to be engaged at all until the end of the night when we were finishing up. We would expect that customer service would be as good for the last appointment of the day as it is for the first appointment. Maybe they shouldn't schedule so much at the end of the day, especially when the employees have hard personal timelines that they really have to meet. This was my daughters second visit and my wife's first. We've used another salon in town for the last couple years and haven't had the same issues. Not sure if we will be back.. read more

Everyone at the salon was super friendly, from the person I talked to on the phone to my hairstylist, Kayla, and everyone in between. She was extremely welcoming, and offered me a drink as soon as I arrived. She started with a tour of the salon, and then asked a lot of thorough questions about how I wanted my hair cut and styled. My sister had a coupon for Alter Salon so I went ahead and decided to make an appointment; best decision I could have made! My appointment was at 6pm on a Friday, the last appointment of the day but I never would have known! I was treated so well and taken such good care of! The salon was clean and well organized with a nice comfortable feel! Morgan gave me my hair cut and she was amazing at making sure she did just what I wanted. She literally measured out 2" before making the first cut then as we went she would stop and have me check to see how I liked it thus far. I recently moved to Temple from the Austin area and wanted a good place to get my hair done. After multiple searches I found Alter salon, I liked the reviews and their work seemed very nice in pics in Facebook and Instagram. I made an appt for a Saturday, they couldn't do It, it was too busy. Instead I got book for Monday which is one of the days they are "closed". I requested Angelica or Sara because I needed someone that speaks Spanish. I do speak English but feel more comfortable in my mother language. I needed a simple haircut and color service. My appt was a 515, I arrived on time. Angelica was my hairdresser, she was polite but after I asked her if she speaks Spanish she said yes, but continue to speak to me in English. which was ok by me I guess. She finish at 8 pm. Which is excessive to me for just a color and a haircut. She did have another customer for a haircut also, maybe that's why she took so long but almost 3 hrs it's too much time for me. She did offer me twice something to drink, she said we have water, coffee or wine, the second time I said ok to coffee and after she started the Keurig machine she told me to go ahead and prepared myself... Oh ok, not much pampering there... Then I heard telling the other customer she had for a haircut that they have some kind of rewards or loyalty points card and that you get a freebie or a service special in your bday etc. She never offered me that. (Weird) Then she mention if I knew how much were the services,I said; yes I checked the website. She said; We all have different prices... Each hairdresser have their own prices for each service (Another weird thing) diff prices?? Really? She said I charged 80 for haircut and the color. I ended up paying almost a 100 between the 80 and her tip. Another thing that bothered me was that when she was rinsing my hair she asked me if I needed any other service, I said no. She said we do eyebrow waxing if you are interested. I said again no thank you. For a place so focus on customer satisfaction it is very rude to ask something like that when the customer already told you no once; as a matter of fact if a customer does not request a service at all a hairdresser should not ask. It's bad customer etiquette. She also asked twice if I wanted to buy any of their hair products. Anyway, I was not a happy customer the experience wasn't what I expected and for the price my haircut was a disappointment, as well as the coloring. I has better results buying a box of John Frieda than what she did for me. I just didn't feel like coming back again. Or like she treated me the same as the other customer that was there. Therefore I won't be a return customer. You can't definitely trust the good reviews online. My experience was not satisfactory. read more
