Purchased a Groupon, made an appointment, got confirmation texts and emails confirming my appointment up till 3:40 PM the day before my scheduled appointment. I was running about 3-5 minutes behind and called to let them know. The lady on the phone told me that my appointment was canceled because I didn't confirm the appointment within 24 hours of booking. I mentioned I had even filled out their consent forms after my appointment was confirmed, but supposedly they filled my slot already. Nothing I received stated I had to confirm this - nothing on the appointment page, nothing in the texts or emails, nothing at all. I immediately pulled over to see if maybe I missed some kind of communication stating my appointment was canceled or that I had to confirm anything or my appointment would cancel. Nothing. I tried to call back to double check that maybe they got me mixed up with someone else, but no answer. As I write this review (5 minutes past my appointment time) the link I received still shows my appointment was at 3 PM today. Though the lady was super apologetic, it doesn't help me get back the time, gas, or money I wasted buying the Groupon and driving out to Georgetown. I felt like I should warn others about this unwritten cancelation policy, and that if your appointment is canceled on their end it isn't communicated to us as potential clients. *I did get a refund from Groupon, but not back on my card. They would only refund me in Groupon Bucks. * Clearly my appointment wasn't canceled and they just didn't want to either service me because of my Groupon or just didn't want to fulfill their last appt of the day (maybe even year, since I believe they are closed on Sundays). She took my worst and found a way to make it my best! She is definitely living her calling, but honestly she's probably great at everything she does. She's just a spectacular human being. I have thick curly/wavy hair and I've certainly had more bad cuts than good. If I could give zero stars, that would be more accurate. Please save yourself the aggravation, stress, and money and do not go here. It was a huge mistake on my part. The day of the 2pm appointment, I receive a text message at noon asking if I can come early at 1pm or reschedule for Saturday. It was an appointment for my daughter's birthday that she had been looking forward to, so I agree to come at 1pm. I text her that I could not find the place as it turned out it was in a salon loft, not a stand alone salon. We arrived on Wednesday at 1:15 to a door that is closed while others have their salon lofts wide open and stylists are actually meeting their clients upfront. When I text her we are here, Jennifer opens her door to tell us we are late and she can't provide the services. My first thought was excuse me we are 45 minutes early on short notice to accommodate you. However again it is my daughter's birthday and I want my kid to feel good. Jennifer reluctantly agrees to do a dry trim. I tip her $20 in addition to the $50 deposit for the appointment that she couldn't even fulfill. We tentatively make an appointment for Friday at 5:30. I never confirm the appointment. I text her Thursday to say please keep the deposit we are going to go to a salon closer to home. She reaches out to tell me she is charging me another $135 so total $205 paid to this woman for a trim. I can see now from other reviews she books appointments, then cancels and still charges clients. She is a total scam artist. Do not see this person. It is not worth the headache. Also please look at her Facebook page to see her before and after photos. I am thankful now she was not able to perform any services on my daughter's hair. I do not trust her and the work is subpar. I first made my appt thinking the salon was located in Georgetown per the website but it was in Round Rock. I was looking for someone closer but decided to go ahead. I used Google to find the studio but it kept dropping me off in the wrong place. I arrived maybe 10 min late and apologized profusely explaining what happened. This was for a 2+ hour appt. Jen immediately told me I was late and she had cancelled the appt. She cut me off and told me I would have to reschedule but would owe the fee. Since I knew I was a few minutes late I was going to offer to walk out wet to make up for it but she wouldn't hear anything and told me to leave. I was pretty upset but left. Subsequently, she sent a nasty email to me which was very unprofessional. I would never go back. She charged me $190 for 10 min. She cancelled the appt. I would give a 0 star if possible. There were not 2 communications. I did not try to circumvent the system. I used Vagara and left a note when I made my booking on 12/2. I did not use any other means to make this appointment aside from the way this Yelp page and Diva Dive's website led me to, which was Vagara. 7. I did not continue to call you and did not use another number to leave a voicemail. Where are you getting this information? it would be great to see your phone logs of this considering I only have ONE cell phone and ONE phone number. 8. But by doing this, you forced away other possibly good relationships with people who will be reading this review. people still rely on yelp for businesses like yours. 10. I have been used to getting a $10 cut that takes about fifteen minutes and never really been satisfied. My wife suggest that I see Jen after hearing that she cuts men's hair too and I'm so glad I went. For $30, I can get a cut that is tailored to my requests and expect it to grow out in a reasonable fashion. This means better cuts less often and supporting a local business! A few weeks ago, I spent a weekend out in Austin, Texas and decided to get my hair colored while on vacay. I struggled a bit finding a place that had such last minute availability (got rejected over the phone with 3 places) but Linh answered at Amp'Diva and she was not only accommodating, but friendly. Goes a long way! The salon isn't very easy to spot, especially in the rain and when you don't know what to look for but once you find it, its unforgettable. The establishment itself isn't very large but they make do of every inch of the space and it's eclectic decor makes it feel homey. They also offer wine and snacks while being serviced - super helpful because you can get so hungry in those chairs! Without having to explain my prior hair history, Linh, being Asian (and Vietnamese!) knew exactly how to treat my hair, which is not so easy to find with a hair stylist up North. I guess being in TX, the clientele is different. Unfortunately the dye color didn't stick that well to me the first time because my hair is super resistant, but Linh was able to use a stronger treatment and was determined to get it to the state that it needed to be, even if she had to do it twice. I came here because I had a Groupon for a hair cut. Chelsea did my hair cut. I think she is one of the only ones that does Groupon hair cuts. She was really nice, took care of what I wanted for my hair, and overall was very good. I would come back for a future hair cut with Chelsea. Let me start with I love the color I got!! Unfortunately, that's where it ends. I called and said I saw them Groupon and was asked to not purchase through Groupon, rather, they would honor the deal. Ok, no problem. It was explained that any "extra" stuff is not include; color, toner, etc. Ok again as I didn't foresee that being a problem as it never has been for me in the past. My hair isn't super long so it should be fine. Wrong. The stylist got through half of my head when she stated she needed to go mix more color. Hmmm...I was purchasing an all over highlight and cut. Why would we need more color halfway through? I also opted to get some waxing done. I was not informed of the cost: $15/eyebrows and $15/upper lip!! Seems a bit steep especially without any follow up tweezing/shaping. I had to do that at home. Next is the haircut. I really dislike it. It is uneven and I have a major shelf layer. I always wear my hair parted and I explained this to the stylist. Please refer to the pictures. So, when all was said and done, I went in expecting to pay around $60 for the cut/color (Groupon promo deal) and I opted to add waxing. When I was told my total was $114 I was quite shocked. I actually have a to go place that takes good care of my hair but I wanted to find a place closer to home where I could get my hair colored. After reading all those great reviews for Amp'Diva Salon I booked an appointment with Linh online. Their website is very easy to use and each service (as they have pretty interesting names) comes with a short description/explanation. So even it was my first time booking I exactly knew what I want and it was easy to book. Their salon is located in the heart of Round Rock old town and actually easy to find. There is plenty of parking all around which is also another big plus! Once I entered I was immediately greeted by the receptionist and stylists. Linh came up to me and introduced herself and made me feel very comfortable right away. She checked my hair and asked what I would I would like to do with my hair. Since I wanted something simple and mainly just cover my gray as my hair has been going through some chemical process the past year, I just want to an overall color/glaze. The color came out beautifully, love the natural look she accomplished and the entire service was great. Linh is very easy to talk to and she gives you the best head massage. I've always been hesitant to use a discount site like Groupon or Living Social for hair services, but I really needed a cut, so I took advantage of the $30.00 deal offered by Amp'Diva. The salon is in a small, dumpy business complex, but I wasn't going to judge a book by the cover. I approached the front door to find it was propped open with a mannequin head (which was a bit disconcerting for a second.) My first thought when I walked in was that it was decorated like a college student's dorm room. It's VERY no frills and tiny. Still, though, I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. My stylist, an Asian woman whose name I don't recall, was very sweet and personable, so my doubts started to go away. She took me to the washing area where I received a basic wash. (I'm used to salons that offer scalp and neck massages with their shampoos. That doesn't happen here.) Once it was time for the cut, she remarked about my bangs, and I explained that they grow fast and hang in my eyes, so I trim them myself a lot of the time. I asked if she could fix them during the course of the cut and she said, "Let them grow out a little...THEN I'll fix them." Ok, fair enough. What I didn't realize is she meant she wasn't going to cut ANY hair off the top of my head! Unfortunately, this wasn't apparent until the next day when I tried to style it myself only to find it was still just as long and scraggly on top as it was previously. She only cut the ends of my hair in the back. I don't necessarily think she's lacking in skills, but her communication definitely needs improvement. Secondary to the wash and cut is the ambience (there isn't any.) A tattooed stylist working next to us talked incessantly to a friend across the room. Seeing as the salon is a tiny space, it magnified the acoustics of the woman's voice, which became extremely annoying. She couldn't stop talking about snowboarding and a new line of cosmetics. I was thankful for the sound of the blow-dryer drowning out the conversation, even though I could still hear it pretty loudly. I was very disappointed in this studio. They cancelled my appointment with less than 24 hours heads up. I brushed it off as emergencies come up and maybe it's a rare occurrence for them. I'm someone who never cancels so I find it annoying that the customer pays a fee for canceling and 90% of the time I'm the one who is canceled on. I work in the customer service field and I would always offer a discount on the rare occasion I'd need to cancel. When I got to the studio the stylist was pleasant and it was a nice space. However, I was very specific about only wanting an inch trim. I was shocked at the pieces that were coming off. When I got home my boyfriend said "wow!" He never has once noticed when I have had a trim before this. I asked him what, and he said, "I've just never seen your hair so short." It's not a bob or anything but she took off at least 3 inches. It's at my bra strap now when it was just about touching my butt before. I tipped her 18% still and decided rather than writing a negative review, instead I'd send a very civil text about what had happened. I even mentioned she was very pleasant and so it was difficult for me to write this but I appreciate feedback both good and bad, so I wanted to reach out. I didn't ask for my money back or extensions or anything like that. I received no reply back and so after that I thought I really need to write a review as I'd like to know how unprofessional the studio was also so that I could have made an informed decision. read more

What a fantastic experience. I am always super nervous about changing salons, but sometimes it needs to be done. I made a last minute appointment for a cut and color here when I needed my hair done, and read tons of reviews in anticipation. I texted over a picture of my hair and what I hoped it would look like and was given the green light. When I arrived- the ambiance was awesome, super friendly and relaxed. The offered wine ( yes, please), and proceeded to work a super fair deal for a cut and color. When others probably would've told me "no, I can't do that" or would've gave me a shit-job (turning naturally black hair to grey!), Chelsea totally took the challenge head on!
