Horrible customer service. The gentleman I spoke with was completely rude and uncaring that the alterations that were promised and pinned were not completed. Then when asked how he was going to fix it he said there was nothing he could do. I was charged incorrectly according to him but instead of a phone call to explain this and ask if I still wanted the alterations done I was given a incompletely altered dress and no offer to fix THERE MISTAKE! THEY HAD MY DRESS FOR 10 DAYS and didnt think to call me about a alterations that mind you after looking closer at the dress was STARTED! The first time I came here was an emergency. I needed a gown hemmed and completed by the very next morning for a charity event I was going to. They were able to do it for me on a weekend and didn't charge much more for the overnight hem. I think the total was less than $20 and they did a very good job on my dress. I've also had a pair of sports pants hemmed for about $13. Thankfully, the store doesn't have a bad scent that will transfer onto your clothes. I always look out for this ever since the alteration place I took my wedding dress to years ago left a nasty smell on my dress that didn't disappear for weeks. Benjamin is my favorite part about going in. He's a cute little white dog who will come up and say hi to you and he sometimes likes to watch as you get your pants measured. read more

I'm definitely disappointed in the quality of work. The staff was nice and friendly and the price to have two pairs of pants hemmed was reasonable but in this case you get what you pay for. I had a very nice pair of Calvin Klein work pants hemmed and the final job was sloppy and looked rushed. The sew job is highly visibly even from a distance. There were not only deep, but unevenly spaced dents all across the hem line. This was an expensive pair of pants that they just annihilated and it's very disappointing considering how expensive the clothing was they ruined. I have never left a poor review before, but I feel like I need to in this case. On July 13, I brought in an evening gown to be hemmed and the straps altered. I needed the dress by August. I have been taking pants & sports uniforms, etc....to them to be altered for years(I believe there was a different owner at one time there before). I bought the gown for just over $400. Before my daughter even put the gown on, the seamstress(who is was extremely rude) & owner were quoting me an astronomical price of $268 + tax just to hem it. This did not even include the other small alterations that needed to be done. Needless to say, I was stunned & visibly upset. The store we purchased the gown from offered to do the alterations for much much less, but because of the stores distance from home, I declined & because I have used Alterations and More for years I chose to take it to them. Horrible choice. I felt like they just didn't want to do the work & if they just quoted me a ridiculous amount that I would just go away. Which I did & found another much more reasonably priced seamstress. In fact, I paid half for the total alterations on the dress then what Alterations and More tried to swindle me out of for just a hem. $268. + tax for just the hem vs. $100 for hem. By the way, the dress turned out beautifully and fit my daughter like a glove. Helped to win her first runner up in her very first scholarship competition. Thank you Tailor Threads in Monroe, MI. I know all visits are different, but buyer beware if you have any difficult alterations. I went in on 5/23/17 and spent a while with one seamstress who pinned the hem, explained that they would need to tighten the bust and add padding to it so it would sit flush with my body, and that the lining of the dress was too tight at the waist without any room to let it out so they would need to take out the extra layer (double lined) and use it to add more room in the lining. She told me this would be $178, which is already a very steep price, but since it was a fair bit of work I said okay. She said she would call me at the beginning of June to try it on before they finalized it, and that it would be ready June 15th. I told her would be gone that weekend so I wouldn't pick it up till the 19th, but I figured it would be okay since she was going to have me try it on early too. She never called, so I assumed she didn't need a second fitting; went in on the 19th to pick up the dress and tried it on... 1) The fabric they added they put in at the wrong level - it started at mid-thigh when we had BOTH said it needed to start at my waist. Two other seamstresses spent a while telling me it was fine, even though you could see the fabric stretching at my stomach. 2) The tulle had been cut unevenly, so it was too long in the front and too short in the back. The man at the front desk spent about 10 minutes yelling at me to tell my my eyes were wrong, and the proceeded to tell me the problem was I wasn't listening, even though I had just told him I heard him but saying the same words to me wasn't going to change what my eyes can see. 3) The lining that they took out I guess they had to cut from the waist, but they never bothered to sew the bodice back into the other lining, so the inside is completely unfinished with little bits of fabric hanging all over the place like a 3rd grader cut it. 4) They took too much in at the waist or added too much padding, so that I couldn't get it zipped without a lot of help from a seamstress. The seamstress tried to tell me I gained enough weight in 3 weeks to make a too-big dress too small. TL;DR: Don't waste your money, find a different place!! I am a petite person so I have been to many tailors over the years and can honestly say this was the worst experience I've ever had. It's one thing to mess up the dress and still make me pay $178, it's another to do that AND tell me it's my fault and I'm delusional and I asked for it. Not worth the time, money, stress, or being treated the way they are apparently okay with treating their customers. I went here b/c of good yelp review, and it was a huge mistake. read more

Below I have a response from Miss Suki about my initial comment. I want to add that she was in no way "polite" to my family and I about anything. My sister in law did drive all the way from Columbus to go to this fitting with us, only for me to be called an hour away from my appointment time to tell me that Becki was not in. I asked if there was anybody else there who could take us as a walk in and I was told yes. I never discussed that the bustle was the only thing that we needed to do that day. Oh, and I must add that the receipt that we got was a hand written carbon copy stating how much we had initially paid. We were never informed of any no-refund policy. But like I said, the money is not the issue. 100$ is minuscule compared to what we are NOW paying for a quality product and service for my wedding dress. The real issue here was that I was extremely upset about how I was treated. I don't want to make myself out to be a "bridezilla" in any sense, but any bride can relate to me. When a bride's wedding dress is literally RIPPING while putting it on and some random person comes in, slaps her hand INSIDE of my bra cup to pull my entire breast upwards, that is a little un-called for. I was not uncontrollably sobbing. But yes, I was very upset. It was not what I was hoping it would be. But I was not consoled or spoken kindly to at all. I was yelled at repeatedly and told "stop crying, take it off." Last time I checked, you had MY credit card number on file. I expected to be treated with respect and some dignity. I would never speak to someone the way I was spoken to, especially as a paying customer. She can defend herself all she wants about her cheap products and awful services. Even if the dress were flawlessly done, I would not accept it due to how I was treated. When we went back to ask for our money back due to unsatisfaction, Miss Suki got angry and told me, that's just how I talk. I'm sorry, but you probably shouldn't be working with the public if you speak to everyone in an unprofessional manner. She then walked away from the counter where my mother and I were standing a said "I am done, I'm not talking anymore." That just shows to us that she is unprofessional, unwilling to help solve problems and very rude to her paying customers. Miss Suki, I hope you have a wonderful day, and I hope that Miss Becki stays with your company for a very long time, because her kindness was the ONLY thing that made me want to come back for the 2nd fitting. Unfortunately for you, nobody I know will be doing service with you again. read more
