I unfortunately had a mixed experience here. On the positive side, the owner did a great job with the alterations on my clothing -- the work itself turned out well and I appreciated the quality of the alterations. However, the interaction was uncomfortable. The owner communicated in a way that felt rude and demanding, and her tone was very opinionated throughout the appointment. At times it felt dismissive and almost like I was being talked down to when I asked simple questions. For example, I asked about a dress displayed on a mannequin and whether she made or sold dresses like that. Her response was surprisingly confrontational -- she told me she would "never come into my house and ask to buy my dog," which felt confusing and unnecessarily hostile given that it was just a casual question. There was also quite a bit of unsolicited life advice and commentary that felt inappropriate for a customer interaction. I remained polite throughout the appointment, but I found myself becoming very quiet because the communication style made me uncomfortable. While the alteration work itself was done well, the overall experience made me feel uneasy, and because of that I would not return. read more

Went to Sadija As a Bride it's supposed to be a wonderful exciting time in your life specially when you found the dress, but need alterations. Unfortunately, that was not the case for me. When I first came into my appointment Sadija was nice but quickly became rude, entitled, and unprofessional . Anytime we try to give her a suggestion of what we wanted she would tell us to be quiet and that she's the boss and the professional and not us, told us she knows what she's doing. Not giving a single care about what I actually wanted . During what was supposed to be my consult, she badmouth her previous customers and went on and on with stories that had nothing to do with my dress. She also had another customer come in during my session and invited her to sit while I was in the middle of the alteration/consultation with no privacy. She then proceeded to talk for another 30 minutes while this poor woman sat there until she said I have ice cream in the car and just came for a pick up. From the very start, I had a bad feeling about this woman, but wanted to give her a benefit of the doubt. I wish I would've looked at the reviews sooner. She came up with the whole different design that I did not approve or ask her to do. She bought a little jacket thing that goes over my dress to cover up so I could be more modest and told me to tell my mother to do the rest after we just paid her $300 cash, mind you she never asked for my consent or approval for anything. The fact that she only accepts cash and Zelle is very suspicious, no debit cards no credit cards. when I didn't agree with her design, she became belligerent and confrontational yelling at my mom and I telling us we wasted her time simply because the design was what she wanted not what we wanted. Oh and her color she picked for my dress was not right for my off white dress. She told us we can take our business somewhere else or listen to her. My mom got her money back. I got up and just left, she tried to get me to stay when I was leaving. I was not about to stand there with my mother and be belittled by her arrogance and entitlement. She treated us like trash and stupid. Excuse me but you work for us. This isn't your dream dress it's mine. We happily went somewhere else who knows what they are doing. Avoid this woman at all cost. I came out shaking, distraught, and a verge of tears. please if you wanna have a good experience, I do not suggest this place. It may be a convenient place to go to for locals, but it is not worth it. read more

Sadija is not very skilled in customer service which led to a disappointing experience. I should have known tbh because when I dropped off the item, she told me a 10 minute story about another customer and how she yelled at him to leave. Anyways, I took my boyfriends brothers jacket that he was wearing when he passed to turn into sentimental pieces that family could keep near. Despite this being sentimental and you would think she would be more caring she could care less. Extremely rude. She took an 80$ deposit, then told me I owed her 320 which I asked if that included the deposit and she said "No 320-80=240" Which I took to mean that we owed 240, which still was a LOT for what we were getting. I told her that was more than we were expecting, and we would save up. One month later I reached out to get it and she told me the total was actually 400, told me to just return the items and that she did not need this. We are not going to return a sentimental item? Just no customer service skills and overcharges. WILD she is still in business. read more

Wish we would have read the reviews first. The one star reviews tell you everything you need to know about this place. I suggest you take them seriously unless you're ready for a fight! She's aggressive,controlling and rude and those are the last things you want for something you're trying to build happy memories about. My wife came home very upset. I normally don't write reviews. I hate negativity but This lady took the cake wanted to do what she thought was great instead of the bride being happy with the service. This was the honestly the worst interaction I have ever had with a business. I purchased a dress for my son's wedding, and brought it in to be hemmed. She was sort of rude during my fitting, telling me that my shoes were all wrong, etc, but I just assumed that she had a pushy personality, not a big deal. During the fitting she pinned it up in the front which was just short of the floor and I approved the length. When I was leaving she insisted on the full payment of $ 75.00 by cash, check or Zell, so I Zelled her the money and was told to return in one week to pick it up. As promised I picked it up a week later, but had just worked out so I didn't try it on at the shop. As soon as I returned home I tried it on, and the front length was correct but the back and sides of the dress pooled onto the floor by 2 inches! And the left side was longer than the right side! I called her right away to tell her and she yelled at me and said that I approved the length and that if I wanted anything else done that there would be a charge. Why on earth would I want for my dress to drag on the ground to trip over, get dirty, and be stepped on? This was not what we discussed and the dress looks terrible. I brought her photos and she yelled at me and refused to look at them or return my money. My only silver lining is that the dress is not ruined because it is too long so now I am going to have to take it to another tailor. I spent my whole life serving customers, so her attitude was very upsetting to me. Please go anywhere else but here for your alterations! read more

Sadija is the most disrespectful person i've ever done business with. Wish i had the option for a no star rating. When i went to drop off some jeans to get altered she gave me a slip that said my total would be $25. When i went to pick them up, the jeans were not hemmed right. The hemmed was not straight it looked messy. After i brought it to her attention she gave me attitude and got so close to my face like she wanted to push me out the store. She made this awful face, looked at me like she wanted to do something to me. She said that's how she does her work and refused to fix it or give me any discount on my terrible looking jeans. Right after this she laughed & said "by the way i'm charging you taxes so it will be an additional $5". She claims to only take cash or zelle & we all know what that means in regard to taxes. read more

BEWARE!! CHECK THE REVIEWS!!! Do not take your clothes or money to this horrible woman! She's very expensive and has a terrible, abrasive attitude. I inadvertently left my pink pick up slip at home when I went in to get my clothes and she yelled at me and called me negligent. I should have grabbed my stuff and left without paying, but I'm not that kind of person. She was also very pushy about the length of my pants to be hemmed and I felt bullied into that decision. She didn't even ask me how long or short I wanted them. She just made a mark on them and sent me on my way. The skill of Sadija is that of a tailor and mender. Her work is astoundingly good. We have taken torn, high-end gortex survival gear and ripped dresses. Her mending and sewing is hard to spot, later. A true craftsperson, right here in the valley. Her craftmanship would be much sought after in more sophisticated venues. read more

Sadija helped my best friend alter her wedding dress and it went from beautiful to stunning. My friend took it to a place in downtown Mount Vernon first and the quote she received was ridiculously high, didn't explain what they were doing, and was overall a nightmare. Do not take your clothes here! Use Mot in Mount Vernon she is cheaper, does great work and isn't a psychopath narcissist like Sadija. Mot charges 15 for a hem Sadija charges 25! I took some pants (4 pairs) in to be hemmed. When I picked them up one was longer than what I'd asked for. I took them back in to ask her to fix it. She insisted they were right and tried to charge me again. She wouldn't let me touch her tape measure to confirm. I took them home, remeasured them and returned with my own tape measure. She absolutely refused to believe she had made a mistake, told me my tape measure was probably inaccurate. She said I could take them somewhere else if I wasn't happy with her work, refused to give me a refund. She told me to "zip it" when I tried to talk and acted like she was going to push me out the door. I insisted she do the job properly and left the pants there. It was such a nightmare interaction and after she acted like she was going to shove me I requested a police escort when I went to pick them up, she still didn't fix them. On a previous occasion, I had a pair of suit pants that needed a button flap repaired, but it was more important that I got them dry cleaned in time for an out of state funeral. My wife dropped them off at the dry cleaners next door (Glow Cleaners), and asked if they could make it happen. They coordinated with the tailor shop next door, and I got my pants back in two days completely done, with no "rush service". A month later, I decided I "needed" a zipper installed in a pull over sweatshirt, and wanting to keep my business local, I remembered my suit pants. Thats when I met Sadija. I'll start by saying I really wanted to like Sadija and give her the benefit of the doubt despite negative reviews. I figured maybe there was a culture barrier and have worked/been friends with Eastern Europeans so thought it would be fine. I called to ask if I could make an appt to bring a dress in for alterations and she said I didn't need an appt, to come on in. So I did... First off, she told me I shouldn't change the dress (excuse me but isn't that my decision/why I'm here?) then she said I should put a pink ribbon on the waste (not what I wanted, I declined) and then insulted me calling me a "control freak" and she says she's annoyed and "this is why consultations need appointments" to which I reminded her that I'd called and she told me I didn't need one. She then tried to argue with me if told her it was a different type of dress than it was (which I just agreed to disagree on, because what was the point). So I left and returned a week later and she told me to go somewhere else. She is not a kind person, good communicator, and has the worst customer service I've ever experienced- go somewhere else. read more

I had a bridesmaid dress I needed to have completely altered. Shortened, taken in at the best, the torso area of the dress shortened...you name it. Basically redo the entire thing. My bridesmaid dress was purchased online and needed alterations. I heard about Sadija from two friends who highly recommended her. I gave her a call and she told me to stop by immediately, which I was surprised to hear! 10 minutes later I arrived and was greeted by Sadija. She was very friendly and immediately had me laughing with her quick wit and charm. I tried on my dress and let the artist work. Within 5 minutes Sadija pinned it up perfectly and gave new life to the dress. She is a real life, fairy god mother. Sadija is ABSOLUTELY DISRESPECTFUL! Shortly after I walked in, she was already yelling at me saying "I'm not listening!" & said that "I needed to do my homework!" She sat down and said that she has an off balance ringing in her ears and she can't control her attitude. She told me to google her problem, like it's something to feel bad about. She definitely has something wrong with her. Instead of doing what I wanted properly, she told me to go to the Michaels store and buy fabric and glue it myself! & then again yelling at me and asking what I did for a living and how I need to listen to her! She told me what the bill will be and I said that I will pay when I come back after it's done so I can check her work - I've gone to so many great alteration stores in Mexico, California, etc and I've never been told to pay upfront and they would rather me check the work to make sure that I am a happy customer. I came to Sadija to have major alterations done to my bridal gown. She spent a lot of time making sure I was happy with the changes and was happy to go the length to get the dress just how I wanted it. After many fittings I've come to known her quite well and while some might find her grandiose personality intimidating she has genuine intentions and a huge heart. Taking some time to talk with her, I feel others will find her a wonderful person with a lot of talent. I 10/10 recommend her to anyone looking for alterations big or small. read more

Do not recommend!! I went to her to alter my wedding dress, my dress was straight at the top and i wanted a sweetheart style neckline. A very simple alteration, I took it in put it on for her and she said no problem. Showed her a pic of what I wanted so it was clear and no misunderstandings. I came back a couple weeks later when it was done and it looked the exact same! I put it on and it fit no different it looked like she didn't even touch it, even though there we're two spots where she cut and sewed but other then that it looked the exact same. I was so mad she had my dress for over two weeks for absolutely nothing! Still had to pay her over $100 for nothing! I wouldn't recommend her at all! read more

For the record, I don't even leave Yelp reviews ...ever; this is probably my first one. I couldn't help but hop on here to warn you all. Don't even waste your time and energy calling. Sadija was outright disrespectful with me on the phone. I called to schedule an appointment to get my bridesmaid dress altered. She began with providing me with a specific date and time then asking if that worked for me. It did not work for me so I asked if she had any time open on the following Friday or Monday. She then proceeded to complain about how she is very busy right now and doesn't have time for this. I repeated my question and asked what times she has available for the following Friday or Monday. She groaned and said my name twice over and gave me just one time on Friday. I said, "that won't work. What about Monday?" She then threw a massive fit complaining that I "need to figure out a day and time that works before calling her." She then proceeded to tell me that I was wasting her time and she has a customer in front of her and that I need to figure out when I want to come in and then call her back. She didn't even say goodbye before just rudely hanging up the phone. F%!# that! What a rude, disrespectful woman. I've had better customer service coming from an irate, premenopausal, Russian woman going through a divorce working for a telemarketer service before. Don't waste your breath. I met her when I took my wedding dress in to get altered, and she was the greatest part in all the days of planning and prepping for my upcoming wedding. She was so caring, compassionate, and amazing, it really did feel like being in the presence of family. I was nervous about my last fitting, and she made me feel beautiful, and gave me the confidence to feel my best when the big day is finally here.
