I have had Alternative Pet Services watch my dog several times. Whether for a week long vacation or 1 to 2 day overnight trip, my dog is always well adjusted and comfortable when I return from the attention that Duane gives to him in my absence. I used have my dog stay with friends or family, but there was always an adjustment period for my dog when we returned home. Having my dog be able stay in a his own comfortable environment, with all my personal things around him, gives him more security. I don't like the idea of someone staying in my home as a housesitter when i'm gone, and I don't need to crate my dog while I'm away. We have used APS services for 3+years. Mostly for 2 day or more trips. We have also used the services for walking training and new dog introduction into the 'family'. Our family currently consists of 2 German Shepherds and 1 Catahoula mix (most recently we also had another German Shepherd and a cat). We find APS extremely knowledgeable on training and control techniques for our multi-dog home. APS will stay overnight if that is your preference - as has been ours - so the dogs have their usual routine. We've used Duane for about 8 years. He's the best. He loves our kids as much as we do. He's had to handle diabetic cats, epileptic dogs and many other strange issues. He's always been there for us. Duane also has gone above and beyond for us. I had a terrible accident on one of our vacations and needed to have certain equipment at the house when got back to the US. Duane is absolutely amazing and crazy accommodating. When he first started caring for my babies, I only had dogs and cats. He spent over an hour with me getting to know all of my "kids" and their individual needs. When I added chickens, he came over and took the time to learn how to take care of baby chicks and later, bigger chickens. We have used Duane as our pet sitter for 4 years now and have never had an issue. He has watched our 2 dogs and has even taken care of of a our chickens and parakeet as well.
