I was able to talk to him for a little bit during the inspection, but I ended up having to leave. I called the next day to get some additional information and he was happy to help. He was able to help me identify what things were a priority, and what things were just surface items. The information was concise and very helpful. They had a special going and I felt I got a really good price for all the work that they did. A solid three hours. It's also nice to have a link with a lot of photographs of my new home. This is now going to cost over $8500.00! The HVAC people said that it's just gross negligence on the part of the inspector. Anyone could have seen the rust inside the furnace from the AC condensate leaking in there over time. Kick A-Z nickel and dimes everything. It's all an add on cost. Drew couldn't test the oven because it was brand new and had a booklet inside it!?! I didn't notice that until I read the final report. I could have had a defective oven and not known because he was a trusted friend of a friend and I didn't follow him around watching him work. Who can't take a booklet out and turn the oven on??? He couldn't test the fireplace because the gas line was shut off inside it. I turned the valve, clicked the pilot and it worked fine. Glad I saved that extra fee! Drew takes a LOADS of photos and spits out a boiler plate inspection document. Yes he tested the wall outlets and said that there were smoke and CO2 alarms present but I could have done that. He caught a drip which I had the seller fix. Save yourself the $ and hire someone that will test your furnace, AC and water heater, along with all the small stuff.

He knows the severity of the issues he finds, and puts them in perspective for the clients - that is, when he finds a big issue, he lets us know its a big issue, but when it's a small one, or deferred maintenance, he is able to put it in perspective for the client. The inspection report he provides is an informational piece as well as a report, helping the homeowner find water and gas shutoffs, electrical disconnects, sewer cleanouts, etc, so it has value after the findings are used for a real estate transaction.
