They were not "exactly" covered by insurance I was told but if I sent $4500, they would cover her until the end of Dec when we she could "move to another place in our network that your insurance covers". I later learned that wasn't true, and that there was no other facility covered by our insurance in Orange County. This was just the first of their dishonest actions. Moreover, the therapies they had promoted as so unique and suited to her were never used during the roughly two weeks she was there. In the two weeks she was at Sheer Recovery, they screwed up her medications, failed to fix it despite several clear sets of instructions and our daughter spiraled down. She was able to order narcotics which were delivered to the Sheer Recovery house! Can you imagine that? What supervision.....Their response was to drop her at a 7/11 at 11pm 200 miles from home where she was assaulted and almost raped. Thankfully she was rescued but the story doesnt end here. After eventually finding a new place in Los Angeles where we were able to finally get her mental issues reevaluated and her medications sorted out, she was able to consider returning home but to a structured living situation. Much to my surprise, she still wanted to return to Good Heart. When she left the first time for orange county, even though she had a bad experience in Santa Barbara, she was told that if things went well, and she straightened things out, she would be welcomed back. While things weren't straightened out at Sheer, she ultimately did get herself straightened out and she's in great shape now. I approached the BeWell people about her return to Good Heart and was first told that she would be welcomed back if she was in good place. I was told that they would need 24 hours to evaluate this and I would get a callback. Of course I didn't hear for three days. When I called back, I was told that it was the responsibility of the clinical team to evaluate this now, but they would do so promptly. Her new doctor tried to call seven times, and no calls were returned. Finally I reached them and was told a decision had been made to reject her without even consulting with the psychiatrist who had treated her for a month. This decision was evidently made during the week when they never got back to us. Is this enough of a story for you? Would you want someone you love cared this way? these folks are all about the money and they're not even professional enough to return phone calls. I intend to notify everyone of the regulatory authorities that they promote on their website to ensure that they know how utterly unprofessional this organization is. Some of the people seem very nice and caring but the underlying management structure is shockingly bad.

Medicare Advantage only provides for 20 days of nursing home care free, then a charge up to 100 days limit. So if the patient is on Medicare Advantage, it might be better to go elsewhere if physical therapy is required. Otherwise, you will be looking for a new nursing facility for day 21.

I was discharged through the front gate without a plan on where to go. My home is 5 hours away. I was just 6 days sober and asked that I secure a safe aftercare plan, but the Clinical Director malpracticed. Casa Serenas is TOXIC. There is no privacy if you wish to have confidential conversations with the staff. The staff is mostly college aged women who cater to bullies in the program. The Clinical Director is at fault for the condition of Casa Serena. And when I was there, only three beds out of fifteen were occupied. Noone believes in this place anymore. It's a shame. Casa Serena should look inward to find a way to remediate the toxicity.

The director, Cori met with us one a week and our daughter 3 times a week. The house is calm and serene. Yoga was included once a week as well as weekly outings. Unfortunately, we had more issues with our daughter arise and we needed to seek treatment that was more mental health centered, rather than eating disorder centered. Only after we experienced another day program, was it apparent how wonderful Central Coast really was.
