Small two story limited mall. Top level empty, good for walking and exercising or relaxing. Stores available in this mall consist of Ross, JC Penny, Maurice, Spencer's and Finish line. A post office , movie theater and public library as well. This mall is clean and well lit and a quiet environment . Easy access from parking lot and or inside the building. All staff I interacting with were friendly, welcoming and professional. read more

Sad. Just, sad. This mall is leading the way of the dying malls in America. I went the other day to patronize a store that I thought was still there and when I arrived, it was shuttered. There wasn't even any evidence that it had even been there. I walked the mall and saw the empty spaces left by Claire's a bankrupted chain and the old location of Bath & Body Works. Yes, at least BBW moved across the street to a new space in a renovated strip center. Olga's restaurant closed after almost 40+ years, but a local restaurant bought the recipes. At least we'll be able to still enjoy those delicious Gyro's. For those interested, the stores I saw that were still open are; Ross, JC Penny's, Slackers, Famous Brand Shoes, Finish Line Shoes, Slackers, Spencers, Maurice's, Jan's Hallmark and Hayner's Public Library. To my surprise, there were a lot of mall walkers. I didn't know people still did that. I'm really surprised, that they're doing it in a mall that is almost empty. Nice mall. The entire upstairs was a musejm of Alton ! The bottom part had Hallmark and JCPenney and Spencers, Famous Footwear and some other stores. Overall nice mall. read more

Alton Square Mall has been update and looks inviting to visit and shop. The new lighting makes it look brighter and more comfortable. Ross dress for less is the first store I visit, besides all the great merchandise pricing, I love to purchase a unique item for my home or car. JC Penney is also a nice store and if you use their APP you can get some great deals and coupons. My family really appreciates the theater and visit often. Great job on the new changes. read more

This mall was jumping with business in the 80's and early 90's. Unfortunately as stores move out so did the people. There are very few places to go here & even fewer of the original businesses left. The Cookie Factory & Olga's are originals. There's still Claire's & Hallmark too. The food court is almost non-existent last time I was in. It's just a shame. Rumor has it that the mall was bought out & prices were raised on the rents, so big name stores like, Jean Nicole, Foxmoor (sp.), 5-7-9, etc. all moved out. They had a hard time getting good stores in after that. read more

It looks like most of my shopping mall reviews will likely be the same nowadays. Next in line will be the former Alton Square. Technically yes it does exist. But very little and very little reason to go there. I wasn't very much of a shopper here growing up (closest one to me is Fairview) but I still find it sad that this never really was the ultimate shopping place that it was destined to be. Even more, it wasn't anything to do with gangs or suspicious people being credited of bringing the place down. In this case, it was mostly poor management decisions and as always the case, the shopping attitudes of Americans. Just drive on Homer Adams Parkway and you'll know what I mean. I guess the few positives to note about are that Olga's is alive and open, and they have a public library to browse through in the basement. Plus a few stores you'll find in any other mall, including Spencer's. Other than that, there is really no necessary reason I would ever go in there. Probably the most depressing part is walking through the former Sears store. As I write this, they have the empty basement open to the public. read more

The mall was ok the bathroom only had two stalls and my fiamly is a fiamly of six so we had to take turns and the mall was like there was two pepol there and I was so weried a mall is supposed be filled with pepol and load this mall was quit and boring read more

After getting something to eat and a stop in Kohl's, I made my way to "Alton Square", sure that I could find a pretty cheap, "douchey" enough shirt. I was being Pauly D from Jersey Shore and I was positive Macy's or JC Penneys would have what I needed at a reasonable price. I compared goods and went with one from Macys. I was hoping that Payless would have a cheap pair of white high tops to really pull the costume off, but they did not deliver. Spencers also disappointed me with not having a large crucifix necklace. They really have some, shall I say, adult material in there. I think I was always too nervous that someone I knew would make me feel really awkward in there, and thats still true... The other review really hit the nail on the head. This was one of the playgrounds of my youth. I feel like I had to have been here at least once a week through about 6th or 7th grade. My favorite memory is running around the department stores hiding in the center section of the clothes racks. Probably supposed to be trying on school shorts. Cub scout pinewood derbys used to be held here. The Hardees and the rest of the food court were pretty awesome, complete with Dairy Queen. TILT was SWEET! Now it is pretty much wasting away, hoping that these new owners will actually do something. But dido about the carpet. WTF? The library is sweet. Olga's is delicious. read more

I was needing to mail some important packages. I did some research and they have a post office in Alton Square Mall. How awesome. I walk and people were waiting in line. The lady at the front of the line was being extremely rude to the clerk. Not once did the post office worker raise her voice to met the tone of the lady's. She remained calm and cool. I was at the table trying to get my items into packages. Once the clerk got everyone taken care of , she asked if I needed help. I told her what I was attempting to do. She took the time to help we get everything mailed, and at a good cost. Thank you maam, What great customer service. read more

Ahhh a stroll down memory lane! This is the mall I grew up hanging out and shopping in as a teen. So much has changed since the 90's. Many of the stores are now closed compared to when I was in high school. There is no longer a Macy's as well. It is unfortunate but they sign of the times regarding retail sales. Many people though still come here to walk when the weather is bad outside. Still not a bad mall, just not many stores in it anymore. read more

I feel sorry for Alton square mall! One reviewer said the mall is like a ghost town. I can totally agree with that. I remember 20+ years ago that this mall was the best place to go to! Maybe because I was a kid and there was an awesome arcade! The last time I was here was about a year ago and before that many moons ago. There are a few stores there but they really need to be renovated. Like Macy's...the store looks so old, lightly dimmed, scary, dirty, and smelly. The associates seem to fall in the same category too. I'm not sure how stores survive in this mall. They just need to knock it down and do something else. Actually, the entire town needs some renovation. Just my opinion anyways. read more

I hate to kick any business while it's down, but Alton Square Mall is a miserable place to shop. They have a few decent stores left (Maurice's, Finish Line, Bath and Body Works) but it's a pretty sad excuse for a mall at this point. I was there yesterday to go to the NY and Company outlet store that I had previously loved here, and it wasn't here anymore. There's still a Macy's and a JC Penney's. The Macys has a ton of "Last Call" sections with deep discounts but nothing really worth while. The entire upstairs looks abandoned, and there's even a library here. How tragic. While there yesterday, I said to myself that this mall seems like the type of place that only people paying their bills would go to. Why a few minutes later I was talking to a friend that I was there and she said that her grandmother goes to that mall to pay her bill?! I'm not even joking! Sad.... read more

This mall lacks stores, variety and service. You are better served shopping on Amazon instead. Don't waste your time here.

This place is a waste of time. They have only a very few stores. However the Philly shack in the food court (if You can call it that) is really good. There is a JCPenny and a bath and body works so if that's ask you need it is quicker than going to a real mall but if you need more than that just keep driving. read more

on Moay 26, 2019 at 6:30 PM I drove onto the Alton mall Square parking lot I was doing about 10 miles an hour and I hit a pothole that immediately busted my tire. I went inside the mall and asked to speak to someone in charge the cleaning gentleman said all we have is a security guard my response was Whoever is in charge I want to speak with. A security guard came out I explain to him what happened and his response was this is the second time this week this is happened. I had to get the tire and all the equipment out of my car for him to change the tire he could Not get the Lugnuts off because he said he wasn't allowed to do that to the car. I ask a gentleman walking by if he could help with the Lug nuts and he did. After the tire was changed I was furious there was no one to speak to so I had the security guard write an incident report up. I wanted him to take a picture of my car and my drivers license so he would have the information he needed he said no he didn't need to do that. After a couple of phone calls because he did Need all that information he got the incident report wrote out. He also told me that more than likely there wasn't anything the mall would do now this pothole was big enough to give the baby a bath in . I will never step foot at that mall again and I do plan on taking every action possible to get this to the public . I ask him why don't you have cones or something on your parking lot marking these potholes that are dangerous he said that's a good idea I don't know if we have any of those. I went back out three hours later and sure enough they were cones a little too late. read more
