They offer homework assistance before school every morning in the library starting at 8 am. My son doesn't utilize it, but I'm sure if he needed to we would. He's been able to maintain an A average all year. His teachers are great. I love that they all embrace technology in the classroom, a marked improvement from elementary school. I especially love his speech and language therapist, she is just fantastic. She made the transition so smooth for him. I wish everyone had her excitement and passion for work. She is a great asset to this district. I know his life and time at Parkway Middle School is vastly improved for having her in it. Rather than focusing on past issues I have had with the district, I would just like to say that my experience with this school has been much more positive and I feel that my son has definitely experienced a better environment over here. I've also witnessed how they deal with behavior issues while on campus picking my son up for appointments. I was pleased with the approach; it was firm, fair and consistent.

We currently have three children at the school, and each of them has had such a positive and unique experience. It's clear that the school is focused on nurturing the whole child, building confidence, kindness, and a genuine love for learning. One of the highlights for our family has been the musical program. Our daughters have been involved in the school musical, and it has been such a meaningful experience for them. There wasn't ever any trouble, just no willingness to be part of school functions, class projects, and we were about to succumb to the idea that was just the way it was. No joy for school or even extra-curricular activities. Well... these teachers did amazing things!! My child is like a whole new kid. The small class sizes helped them focus on my child's needs, and the care the teachers showed made such a difference. Now my child loves school, can't wait to "try" math (it can still be hard) and is in the school play! I would have never thought this could happen. They had a more practical approach to it. They were really demanding, and wouldn't accept anything less than excellence from their students. If someone was falling behind, they did a good job at reaching out and helping out the student in any way needed. Good education, good people, good establishment.

I got called slurs on a daily bases multiple times a day by many different kids. I was bullied so relentlessly that i couldn't even make it past November Break my 10th grade year and that was after wanting to leave the school 2 weeks into my 9th grade year. I had one friend who watched someone come up to me and say that i should go to bible study group so that they can "fix my problem" referring to the fact that I'm gay and then that friend brought me to that bible study group where they tried and failed to convert me. After this I only had two or three friends out of the whole school who didn't betray me the rest of my time there There were many other worse things that happened at this school that I will get into during therapy but not a yelp review I HIGHLY suggest that if your child is not a football playing asshole then DO NOT send them here ESPECIALLY if they are queer or different in anyway cause they will picked on until they can't take it anymore! Leaving this school was the best decision I've ever made for myself, my mental health, and all over well being as a person. Our high school independent study program is amazing - students don't slip through the cracks at GSDA because the high school team knows exactly how to address the educational and emotional needs of all types of kids. It is an "everyone knows everyone" type of atmosphere. The consultants go above and beyond to make sure that all students are successful, something that is really hard to find in a traditional high school setting. Working at a small school gives all of us the opportunity to get to know each student personally. I love being able to try different curricula, projects, and teaching techniques with my families. I'm absolutely disgusted with this school! My child attended both years! His fifth grade year was…read moreokay teachers were very communicative and cared about my child's education. 6th grade year was an absolute mess. Beside one or two teachers I was very disappointed in how some of them handled situations. I hardly had any communication with any of his teachers regardless how many times I reached out to find out assignments or any thing regarding my child's education! Also your child will not be able to attend any dances or have a chance at extra "special events" if they have an I in any class. I think it's absolutely ridiculous and separates the "good kids from the bad kids!" This is how my child felt! You do not treat children this way and exclude them from events with their friends. Middle school is hard enough. I will not name the teachers names but I've had to help my child with certain classes because the teacher refused to help let alone teach them! Some homework that was brought home was not discussed in class, and lots of assignments making my child feel overwhelmed. It was a constant fight every night because my child was mentally drained! I have read reviews about Dana and heard by a number of people who have attended there or had their child go there that this place is a mess! I also agree! I'm so glad to be almost done with this school! I can't count how many times my child came home upset from that school and because of its TEACHERS! Good luck if your child has to go here.
