I honestly loved this school so much. I had an incident where I was hospitalized freshman year of high school. After I went back to school, but had to be hospitalized again. With Mirus, I went from being a year and a half behind to graduating before everyone at my old high school. The videos and questions helped too because they weren't necessarily just about pointless things, but the important ones. My teacher, Mr. Zimmerman, was amazing. He was my favorite teacher I've ever had in all 12 years of school because he was the most understanding and patient. I did have a heavy mental health struggle when I first went to Mirus because of personal reasons and school, but he helped me good through it and allowed me to stick to my goals while thoroughly explaining anything I needed help with. He honestly cares about his students, which to me is so important because of all the struggles teenagers go through. I am forever grateful for Mrs. Arellano at Mirus Secondary School. She is the kind of teacher who never gives up on her students even when they may feel like giving up on themselves. She goes above and beyond to remind them how valuable their education is and offers consistent support and encouragement every step of the way. I truly believe that if it weren't for Mrs. Arellano, my son would not have finished high school. She made a lasting impact on him and on our entire family. Mirus Secondary School as a whole deserves recognition as well. The staff genuinely care about the students and are committed to helping each one succeed. The flexible and supportive environment makes a big difference, especially for students who may need a more personalized approach to learning. My son was getting himself in trouble, hanging with the wrong crowds and not attending school so sending him to Mirus was the best decision ever. Since he has been at Mirus his overall demeaner has changed. He is still a typical kid who doesn't want to go into school but he does. He has not only managed to catch up but he is now ahead of school. Whenever he needs help or I want to check in on him Ms. Swartwood is always readily available and willing to assist in any way she can. I like that the school is small so he gets more one on one and we drop him off and pick him up so I have much more control so he doesn't get into trouble. He always comes home with positive things to say about his class and teacher(s). I did give my son the option that if he stayed on track he could transitioning back to public school for his senior year and he said he wanted to stay at Mirus. read more

If you are looking for an alternative to public school for your child, do not hesitate to sign up for this program. I had serious misconceptions surrounding switching my daughter to Altus, I thought that she could not get the same education and social growth in a home school setting. I was wrong, my daughter excelled because the teachers at Altus (Mirus) are beyond amazing, they keep the students motivate, on task and push them to perform to the best of their abilities. they provide one on one instruction when needed, endless support and guidance. Absolutely love this school. Mr. Castaneda has always went above and beyond for his students. Very patient, kind and caring. The environment in this school is very peaceful. I love the fact that my son had a chance to experience the one on one with such a great teacher. Even the curriculum was amazing, they tailored to help him the best way possible to be able to finish. Taking our son to Altus Schools Mirus and Audeo Valley has been the best decision for our family. Our son has grown significantly in skills. He is happy and eager to learn. Everyone's effort is producing results, as he is likely to be caught up on his skills by 9th grade to be ready for high school. I couldn't have done it without both Audeo Valley and Altus Schools' Mirus resource centers pulling together this past year and a half to support him. I've been at Mirus for almost 2 years and the teachers are very helpful. It is in a center where there are almost no distractions and everyone's always focused on their work. I would recommend Mirus to any friends of mine because its pretty easy to finish a class if you stay on track. The teachers and assistants are always near when you need help and are definitely people i can go to when i have a problem. Overall, i think Mirus is a great school and they genuinely care about their students. read more

As a student at Mirus Secondary School my experience had been excellent.I love the teachers there they are so kind and nice and they are always trying their best to give us the best education we need. I've been at Mirus for almost 4 years now and the teachers are great! They work one on one with you and are always there in case you need them. I really love the setting and it's quiet and there is no one to interrupt you from your work. The school works well with my work schedule so i don't fall behind. He and Mrs Swenson knew that I wanted my daughter to succeed and also knew that I wanted her to graduate early which in fact she did.
