Not that I need them, but a new pair of sneakers is always an option, especially when at the mall. The store is bright, laid out nicely and stocked well. Prices are standard, but they do have a few nice deals and clearance racks. We tried on a few pair of sneakers and browsed the clothing. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were greeted upon entry and helped when trying on shoes. Overall, solid JD location.

Opry Mills combines shopping, dining, entertainment, and activities for the whole family. I LOVE that this mall is indoors. I feel like outdoor malls are the trend in the South, and I hate how on a rainy or cold day (yes, it gets cold), you have to brave the elements to go from store to store. Not here. Some of the stores here are outlets, and some are regular mall stores. I saw plenty of sales, and the selection in the stores was generally good. I shopped at the LOFT outlet and found a larger selection than other LOFT outlets I've been in. The Kate Spade outlet also had a good selection, although I didn't buy anything there (I love their products). The food court is excellent with both chain options as well as some spots that seem to be more local to Nashville. I opted for Panda Express, and it was just like every other Panda Express, but sometimes that's what you want in a food order meal. I wish my hometown had a mall like Opry Mills- all of ours are outdoor or have a lot of vacancies. If you're visiting Nashville or staying at the Opryland Hotel, definitely come to the mall for a fun afternoon.

Rivergate Mall, a barely functioning relic of the past…read more What once was the heartbeat of the Rivergate area in Goodlettsville is now a reminder of what once was, but sadly is no more. The mall has certainly seen better days and at this point is just waiting for the impending closure and redevelopment that is due anytime now. In current state, the mall only has 20 active retail stores and two eateries. Majority of the stores are locally owned and branded, however there are still a few nationally recognized stores such as JC Penney, Dillard's, Foot Locker, CITI Trends, Guitar Center and Finish Line. The mall is in rough shape and is honestly a sad place to be at this point. No refresh is coming, but they do keep it fairly clean, even the restrooms were tidy and well stocked. My recent visits, and most over the years, have been to Dillard's or JC Penney. I pop into the shoe stores on occasion, but my trips here are usually very purposeful. Overall, Rivergate mall can still come in clutch when needed. It will be a sad day when it finally says goodbye, but it has done its thing well for the area for close to 60 years now.

(probably more frequently than I should) I will be completely transparent when I disclose that I am friends with Yazoo's very own living and breathing mascot, Neil McCormick, and that Yelp has partnered with this Nashville tradition of a brand on many things... including the Yelp Helps Big Wheel races BUT This does NOT change the fact that Yazoo's Annual Big Wheel Championship deserves each and every one of the 5 stars that I happily give it. So, while I like to wax poetic in some of my reviews, let's just stick with the facts man, on this one, shall we? Fact 1: This event is super affordable. Put together a co-ed team of 4 and it only sets each team member back $10 and you also receive your first beer a fun custom team teeshirt for FREE! Plus, it's FREE to attend! If that's not deal, I don't know what is... Fact 2: They always connect a charity element with the event so you're big-wheelin' and brewin' for a good cause. As far as I know, they have had Toys For Tots on board since the inception of this event nearly 4 years ago. The reserves and soldiers are on site to collect on behalf of children in need. Fact 3: You will have a good time. Although, I was not able to participate this year, I did in the inaugural race and our Yelp team had a blast! I should also mention that I am pretty terrified of anything on two wheels due to a freak biking accident that included a Huffy and a beach towel when I was 11 years old... yeah. Fast forward to the Big Wheel race and of course my team was doing pretty swell and as soon as I jump on my bike and race down the hill (in lightning speed BTW), I start to feel the bike shake and jostle... OH NO. CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH! My worst nightmare happened. My bike fell apart and I was somewhere between laughing my ass off and mortified because the bike had positioned me in (ahem) a somewhat compromising position. FInally, I was untangled loose with some assistance from event staff as bikes were whizzing past me... I could have thrown in the towel, hell, I didn't even have a functioning bike! But, you know what? I could blame it on a non-existent head injury but I started to Survivor's "Eye Of The Tiger" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btPJPFnesV4) playing in my head. I. NEED. TO. FINISH. THE. RACE. So. Amongst the cheers of the crowd (reminiscent of that scene in the movie Rudy), I gathered myself together, snatched up the disconnected Big Wheel steering wheel that was lying on the ground, and I just started to run. (perhaps reminiscent of that scene in the movie Forrest Gump) And, although I am no Jackie Joyner Kersee, I crossed that finish line like a boss. Sure, I was a sweaty mess with scuff marks on my jeans and a slightly bruised ego, but when Neil came trotting over grinning from ear to ear as he high-fived me and the crowd went nuts, I knew that this event was epic. So, are these events based off facts? You bet your ass they are! Did I also wax a little poetic in there too? Perhaps. What a great event!…read more I'll admit...I was totally "scurrrred" after witnessing some crash and burns and equipment malfunctions earlier in the week during Yelp Helps. These people take big wheelin' crazy serious. But despite my apprehension, I joined in as a proud member of the Yelp Nashville Team, and I had a BLAST! To start, we were given t-shirts from Yazoo, and encouraged to decorate as we so desired with spray paint, stencils, and fabric markers. Super fun. Each team member also received an "Army Man" as a drink ticket, since the first Yazoo brew was on the house. I ended up with the sniper man...#soappropriate. Even with a beer in hand, I was nervous! I don't think I even rode a Big Wheel as a child! So naturally I thought, "What the f$@! am I getting myself into?!?" These people looked serious with their game faces, running gear, helmets, and crazy costumes (including a Power Ranger)! Luckily, we were all given a chance to ride the course in a practice round. I rolled around once, and it was over...I. WAS. HOOKED. Even though we didn't take home the prize, we still placed second in the first round. For this batch of Big Wheelin' newbies, we're very proud! Oh yeah...I plan to do this again. Serious fun times! (As a side note, the burgers served up with a bag of kettle chips for around $2.00 were pretty damn good too.)
