He had many illnesses that could take him at any time, and hospice provided me with extra services so I could take care of him at home. The doctors and nurses, as well as myself and my father, thought that he would still hang on for a couple of more years! He was full of life. Little did we know that only 6 weeks later we would be going to his funeral. The nurses and CNAs and staff of Health First hospice helped us every step of the way. As my father's Health deteriorated quickly, his nurse came sometimes every day to provide assistance as needed. I could not have gotten through this without them!

The compassion and attentiveness provided by the whole VITAS Team Staff was no doubt remarkable during a very difficult time in our lives. When my Mom's Healthcare Oncologist informed us that we needed to begin coordinating Hospice Care...VITAS Team swiftly responded and came to our home that evening. Not really understanding Hospice Care a representative arrived within hours to help explain a care strategy. The experience of preparing and planning for the needed care of a loved one was not easy. The VITAS Team really gave our family amazing support through a very emotionally time from early Home Hospice Care to final Facility Hospice Care located at Rockledge, FL. The VITAS Team ensured my Mom was comfortable through the entire process of care. VITAS Representatives and Teams listed below were all superb in our experience! Yes, we lost our Mom but do know, she no longer must deal with the pain of cancer, other illnesses, or worries. This facility literally killed my mom by refusing to give her her blood pressure meds and sent her into shock!!! NEVER TAKE anyone here unless you want the clones for nurses to ignore you and do not believe the lies that the oh so sweet and calm social workers tell you. Death is their business, NOT LIFE, even though it is short. The brochures say they will continue the meds..............LIES!!! They admitted my mom after hours with NO DOCTOR to check her and NO MEDS available, yet after 5 was when they do admissions!!!!

She would always call me right after her visits every week to report on his status. She was always pro-active, in trying to maintain his quality of life and care. If she needed to come in more than once per week because of a problem, she would be there. She made my father feel special, and that he mattered to her. He would always smile when she would come in to see him. The other workers that would come in to help him were just as attentive. Allison, who would shower him 3 times per week, Donna a volunteer, who would come every week to see him, Stanley the Chaplain, who would give him comfort, and Jason the social worker, who would visit him often as well. She was also consistently available, making us feel like we were never alone in the process. During a moment of crisis, she truly went above and beyond--responding quickly, taking control with calm confidence, and guiding our mom through what was a very scary situation. Her steady presence and ability to act with both urgency and compassion made all the difference. Dessarae provided hands-on care with such kindness and gentleness. She treated our mom as if she were her own family, always attentive to comfort and the small details that made a big difference. She also cared deeply for our family, offering comfort and reassurance throughout. Her warmth and compassion will remain in our hearts. Together, they created an environment of peace and dignity that we will never forget. Their care extended beyond our mom to our entire family, offering comfort, understanding, and genuine empathy when we needed it most. Having to make…read moredecisions like this are never easy but we are beyond thankful for the compassion shown to us by ALL of the staff at William Childs! She was treated with dignity & respect in her last days. All of the staff were informative on every move taken with her & spoke to us daily giving us updates and even reached out to the family to be sure we were ok & if we needed anything! The facility & her room was so clean, comfortable and nothing like a hospital room, with enough space for overnight family to stay if needed. A screened in porch allowing some fresh air into the room affording the chance to be outdoors while still remaining close by! The gratitude we have for this facility is beyond words or star ratings! They will all be forever in our hearts ! THANK YOU just doesn't seem to be enough.

They really consider the families concerns and the patients wishes. The rooms are very big with couch, private bathroom and patio attachment. very bad hospital we are on the 2nd floor my father is very delicate we brought him to this…read morehospital because on the 2nd floor they have a place called Francis which is for patients who are at the end of an illness and supposedly here they provide us with a lot of peace and tranquility until the day they die, we just arrived today we ask that no one bathe him because he has very delicate skin and only I bathe him his daughter who knows how to do it there everything is fine my sister stayed taking care of him and I went to do some pending things at my house when I returned they gave my father something to sleep and in 2 seconds he fell asleep my sister and I said to ourselves well let's sleep now that he is sleeping so when he wakes up we can take care of him well it is not like that, there is a very upset nurse yelling and with a very bad attitude 1st I called her because he had to drain the fluids from his stomach it was not working and she says that if she barely touched him the machine started working 2nd that she needs the papers to cremate my father 3rd how and with that I have to bathe him, I claimed 1st that she speak quietly that she is in a place where people need peace 2nd why if we are caregivers of a patient she comes so many times in the middle of the night to bother us she told us that it was her duty to check on him and I told her that he is the patient not us and that we want to rest because it is 3 in the morning and he hasn't let us sleep and she got very upset saying that she had to take care of my father and I explained that it is okay for her to take care of him not us, we have been 20 days in a hospital with him and of so many nurses, cleaning staff, doctors and other people with us, we had no problems none were as unpleasant and as cool as this lady, I think she is not qualified to be in this room, tomorrow morning we will talk to the manager and we will go to another place that really has specialized personnel in these difficult issues for people.

This place saved my life. I will be going home in a few days after being here for almost a year…read more I was in bad shape, physically and mentally. I didn't want to be here (or anywhere). I was put on bed rest for a month and steady nutrition. I was hand fed because my hands were shaking so much I couldn't do it myself. Kindness, no judgement. Then the meds. It took several months to find the right medications for my needs. I got physiatric care with the same psych nurse weekly. Got P.T. from great therapy staff. All this took time. I couldn't go to the bathroom. I was afraid to transfer from my bed to the wheelchair. I was afraid of showering. I was afraid of the walker. I got over these obstacles with the kindness of the CNAs and nurses. Administration was helpful with questions, paperwork and insurance. I feel a sense of family here but I'm eager to go home!
