We were in the area to pick some lunch. Often, we like to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and the warmth of the sun while we eat. This also allows our dog to hang out and maybe get a nibble or two. Today's weather was not conducive to sitting outside. Fortunately, this park was across the street, had a nice view and plenty of available parking. We saw several other people with dogs and some adults with young children. There's a boat ramp, a dock, fishing pier, public restrooms, a playground, two volleyball nets set up and as I said earlier, a great view. Considering that the park itself is not huge, there's quite a bit to do. read more

I discovered (Alvarez) Ninth Street Park on Yelp, when I was looking for a beach to go to that I haven't been to. The reviews mentioned there's a beach at this park. I wanted to check it out and actually see the beach before I plan a beach day when the weather starts getting hot. Its a cute lil beach! I would call it more of a sandy bank by the water. It's not very big from what I can tell. I would dip my feet in the water... not sure about going deep into it because of the rocks and the tides. I took a short drive (only 30 mins!) and I arrived in no time! There was plenty of parking! This park has a children's playground, boat loading area, a dock for fishing (a man was out doing some fishing when I was there), bathrooms, benches throughout to sit and enjoy the beautiful views, and a huge grass area to bring a blanket to bask in the glow of the sun and/or have a picnic. The outside wall of the bathrooms have a map of the bay area with notes of fun things to do, local museums, and trails to take a trek on. I took a short stroll and sat at one of the benches facing the boating area. It was so tranquil! The water, views of Carquinez bridge, and hills in the distance are such a treat to look at! The sea breeze made it all the more relaxing enjoying some time outside. Mission accomplished! :) I just added this park to my list of favorite parks. I definitely will be coming back! :) read more

Driving around Benicia we came across a small city park we had not seen before (probably because on most visits we stick to downtown Benicia). Unusual for Benicia, there was tons of parking along 9th St for the park. The park itself is nothing special, you could walk from one end of the park to the other in a few minutes. A family with kids was in the small playground. I spotted a couple lonely picnic tables and what might be a deserted volleyball court. But the views are spectacular! The park overlooks Carquinez Strait, with the Carquinez Bridge in the distance. Just gorgeous views! Down the hill is a small beach and more kids were frolicking in the sand. Great place to just come, hang out, and enjoy the view. read more

A very quaint place to take a stroll, walk your dog, barbecue, take your kids to the playground or splash around in the water at the beach. I even saw someone kiteboarding in the water. The park/beach is near a neighborhood and there is a spacious parking lot available. I used to come to this park as a kid and collect the sea glass at the beach. The beach is small and intimate, it's a perfect area to set up some chairs and watch the sunset. There's signs posted that dogs aren't allowed at the beach area but no one heeds by this- please leash your dogs and pick up after them if that's the case. read more

Wow, this is such a nice and versatile location. We took the grands to play on the beach, splash in the water and enjoy the playground. It's nice that they have bathroom facilities. The only downer was that there was more trash than the bins at the bottom of the stairs to the beach were overflowing. I'd recommend bringing your own bag to put your trash in and take it home with you. A great place to take the family. Free Parking. And a boat ramp also. read more

This is our go to park for picnics on days the kids have Judo in Vallejo or Benicia. There is actually a place you can get in the water and swim. They have P launch for boats also. Huge parking area and every time we come to this park there's really not that many people here so not too crowded. They have a small beach area where you can get some sun. Beautiful area. Not really a beach but Beautiful walking area. Grasslands near the cliffs. A side by here is called Southhampton Bay.

We had a family photo shoot here and it was a hour drive from our home. We went on a Sunday around sunset 6 ish and it was packed with families. My buddies and I headed out here fishing for Striped Bass. The pier is very small and limited. If there are boats roaming around, you'll have limited areas to cast. However, you may cast off the shore if you please. Unfortunately we caught nothing here. It could be very well be a bad day or due to us being limited to the pier. All the bites we gotten were from Dungeness Crabs which is prohibited to keep in these waters! There are probably better spots on the Carquinez Strait. This park is tucked behind a neighborhood so don't let it throw you off. At first I thought I was lost, but eventually realized I was close to the waters. Perfect spot for a picnic with ample of open space and a great view of the water. There is also a play set and 2 sand volleyball courts. The times that I've gone there have been children playing, folks playing volleyball, folks playing spikeball, folks flying kites, others also having picnics. There is a path to get down to the water. I personally have never gone into the water but I have seen some people do so and have even seen a couple of wind surfers and kite surfers. Bathrooms were open and clean. read more

This beach was splendid to spend some time during the phase 2 of COVID. After being stuck in my hot house 20 minutes away, we drove to this beach for the first time. It was quite crowded as it was one of the only places to be during quarantine, but the water was beautiful and cool (and not too murky. Easily swimmable). People were super nice and just trying to keep their distance the whole time. I'm very happy I spent some time to go here during quarantine, I'm definitely coming back. No one wore masks, though, so please keep that in mind when you go/if you go during quarantine! read more

I can't believe I never knew about before park before! Located off Military East about 5 minutes from the freeway this place is perfect for outdoor fun. Plenty of free parking and bbq pits near the volleyball nets and play area for kids. The best part is there's a small beach perfect for the little ones. This park has it all: stunning views of the strait, a beach, a field to run in, volleyball nets, a nice playground, a picnic area... it's awesome! Definitely my favorite park in Benicia. I love taking my child there to run around and enjoy the waterfront view. There's always plenty of parking and it doesn't get too busy, probably because it's tucked away in a residential area. It's hard to tell there's a beach from the road, but if you walk down the hill on the paved path there's a cute little beach with space to swim and play. Heads up, dogs are not allowed but there are almost always some there. Just keep them on leash and clean up after them, please! We celebrated my child's birthday at this park last summer, and here are some tips if you plan to do the same. The picnic areas with barbecue pits are first come, first serve and if the weather is nice they do fill up. Come early to snag a spot. Also, I recommend bringing some sort of sun shade since only one of the tables gets any natural shade and it can get very hot. Unfortunately we haven't been here in a while because this winter a huge flock of Canada geese has taken up residence in the park, covering it in bird poop. However, we'll be back once they move on. read more

We had a wonderful day, until right when we were about to leave. A family of four came, with an unleashed dog. There was clearly a sign posted that said there were no dogs permitted. The wife and husband left the area, with the unleashed dog roaming around the area, sniffing and running on our blankets, and around my 5 year old daughter, my 2 nieces (that are afraid of dogs) and my 8 year old nephew. I had to tell the young boys that were left "attending" the dog to come and get it. When the man and woman came back, I said to the guy that there are no dogs allowed, he waved me off and walked away. A few minutes later, while we were packing up our things, the guy came back, extremely close to my teenage daughter, yelling. The lady he was with then tied the dog to some type of board. Him and I exchanged words. Overall the park/ beach was nice. I don't know if that type of thing happens where people have a blatant disregard to other people and the rules, my only suggestion is to periodically have someone monitor the goings on of the beach read more

This park and beach was perfect for kids. Granted it's not the ocean, but the waves are very calm making it easy for my three year old and five year old to walk out in the water. It stays pretty shallow as well. There's a little beach with sand to play with sand toys. The playground was fine and normal. The views are beautiful of the bridge. Highly recommend for Solano county residents that don't want to drive over an hour for the beach. read more

I was really surprised by how nice this park is. The play area is decent. The kids loved it. The view here is great. I definitely wouldn't go in the water even though I saw others do so. The only bad things here is the bathroom location. There's only one waaaaay away from the park. Second, the size of the BBQ grills. They're so tiny!! And lastly, no shade.
