Wanna know a secret? I debated on sharing this review as I truly enjoy this place and selfishly wanted to keep it all to myself. I'm trusting y'all now I love this winery. The Balance of Energy between all things is the meaning of Orenda and it's fitting. Big red fan and I've yet to taste a red I haven't enjoyed at Orenda. In fact, the whites are good too. The grounds are peaceful, beautiful farm estate. Feels like something out of the Spain or French countryside. The hosts are knowledgeable, friendly and genuine. Try the bake goods because Tressa can bake!! I digress....Beautiful place for events or just grabbing a glass to breathe. I've yet to sit inside because outdoors is so pretty. The wine is simply put delicious. Subtle, complex, very drinkable and thankfully unpretentious. So good that Orenda is the first wine club in Washington that we've joined. This Californian is a fan. We're looking forward to the release party as I here there maybe a Spanish blend.

Had so much fun tasting here! The grounds are gorgeous and lots of people were having picnics-highly suggest bringing a blanket and some food! The wine was fabulous, we did a tasting and enjoyed everything we tried and had great conversations with the servers. They were having a craft fair when we went which was really cool. There are super sweet cows next to the winery and it was so fun to watch! The whole property had a beautiful aesthetic. I went in early spring and think this has a lot of potential for summer if they tidy up the grounds and pond a bit! Overall it was lovely

Small intimate family run winery perfect for us cuz that's what we like. There was a high school jazz band playing who were incredible. They do flights and the money you pay for flights goes to 2 bottles when you buy their amazing cab franc!

I love Orenda Winery! #ThankYouThursday full disclosure I'm a wine club member and have been almost since day 1 of their opening! I love to meet up with friends here, they have the most beautiful property to relax, bring your dog, sometimes have a snack, or even when they have a small band just enjoy the vibe. Samantha and Xander are so knowledgeable and passionate about this winery. Also, the manager Tressa is literally the best! Check it out and thanks Orenda for being a great valley place to congregate and sup on delicious wine! For those red lovers try the Cab Franc or Balance, delish! White wine drinkers who are ambivalent about Chardonnay try theirs, it's totally different than a standard Chard. Cheers

I came here for the grand opening party and enjoyed their wine and the grounds are truly beautiful. They took me back to my many visits to Napa when I lived in NorCal. The bummer was that their pours were not friendly. In two stations, people pouring the wine made errors (not pouring the right wines and marking that they did) which is fine, but it created some confusion. And in that confusion, they didn't trust the wine tasters. I believe this was very unprofessional and not smart for a budding business as it gave off very bad vibes. In every station, I was poured less wine than the two males received every time. I didn't say anything but it lended to the cheap vibe I was getting. Still, these don't speak to their wine or grounds (more towards a few employees). We ended up buying a bottle of their Cabernet Sauvignon and our friend did, too, which was very good. And we want this winery to do well....so much potential and a beautiful venue indeed! I do expect to see this place and their wine only get better.

Wow! beautiful! we had such an amazing time at the grand opening this afternoon. we came with everyone from kids, to adults, to seniors. the wine is delicious with unique flavors that we all enjoyed. there wasn't one tasting we didn't love. we left with a couple more bottles to take home and we will definitely be back again. The band was great and the snacks were yummy. The owners and staff are all so friendly and thoughtful... from the way they treated every individual guest to the way they decorated with purpose. we had such a nice time walking around just enjoying the beautiful grounds finding all the little details in everything. the kids also had fun on the hill, dancing, and playing lawn games. i absolutely recommend this winery.

Beware of Renting Blakely Hall in the Issaquah Highlands…read more On Saturday October 12, 2024, my wife and I rented Blakely Hall in the Issaquah Highlands (operated by the Highlands Council) to host a baby shower for our son and daughter-in-law with about 30 friends and family in attendance. We reserved the hall for 4 hours from 10 AM to 2 PM at an hourly rate of $150, or $600 total for the event. The guests of honor were late arriving at the shower (they had a couple of errands to run), and so we stayed a bit beyond 2 PM to finish cleaning up. A few days later we received an e-mail from the manager of the facility saying that we had stayed an extra 38 minutes. Per their policy, they rounded that up to 1 hour and charged us twice the normal hourly rate for being tardy vacating the facility, or an extra $300. We tried calling them twice to discuss what happened, but they never returned our calls. We then e-mailed them to explain what happened and to see if we could get the overage charge reduced (per their website we could have simply added an extra hour for $150 when we made our reservation). We agreed that an extra $150 was warranted for not leaving by 2 PM but that doubling the charge to $300 seemed punitive and unfair. They replied that doubling the hourly rate as a penalty was their policy and they would not work with us to lower the charge. We never heard from them again. I would caution anyone thinking about using this facility either to look for an alternative venue or at the very least be aware of the onerous way that the facility is managed and plan accordingly. We will certainly never use this facility again or recommend it to anyone.

This is a feat when 50-60 men and women bring their own beers and bar snacks all gather together and leave crumbs and debris on the floor. The cleaning staff here do a great job here. The open space in Blakely Hall is a great spot if you want to host a shower, birthday party, auction, or a charity event. It's spacious and we're able to fit 8 full size poker tables with room to spare. There's also a large kitchen with two french door refrigerators and ovens, so if you're planning on catering a party, you can do that as well. Blakely Hall is located in the Issaquah Highlands near residential area. It's tucked in a place with lots of houses and townhomes. The positive is that there's plenty of street parking and you're in a safe area with plenty of foot traffic. I love coming here once a month to play poker. It absolutely beats playing in a garage or an old hall built in the 1950's with no heat or air conditioning. It's not like I'm playing in a players-only club from the movie Rounders, but I enjoy a nice clean modern venue. If you're looking for a spot to host an event, check out Blakely Hall.

Arriving at Carnation Farms, not knowing what exactly might be there, I was firstly surprised to see the classic "Carnation Farms" logo with the exact font type and the carnation flower on the cans of evaporated milk that I have seen my entire life. Wait a minute, is this THE "Carnation Farms"? Well, yes, but also a no, but also a yes. LOL. I ended up reading the historical signs and chatting with the cashier for a while (there were no other customers - zero). Carnation was indeed the dairy farm that made the now world-famous evaporated milk, created in 1899. The business grew and thrived so well that the community of Tolt was renamed to Carnation in 1917 although the name changed back and forth two more times before it stayed with Carnation. In downtown Carnation, many businesses are still named Tolt, including the Tolt River. In 1985, Nestle brought the Carnation company. In 2016, the original Stuart family purchased the name "Carnation Farms" back from Nestle. The name rights exclude diary, but they have animals and is now a venue, amongst other business ventures. We missed a local market that was on the previous day. Today, this sleepy business sells many locally made products and hosts community events such as the local market. Limited bundles of produce represented the 'farm' name poorly, if I am being honest. I asked the cashier which products in the store are actually from the current farm. She pointed to the freezer case. I chose a frozen curry goat soup from the case. It was passable, more soup than goat, i.e. not much meat. If you want to visit, check their calendar of events and go for a museum tour or one of their many events. The shop itself is less interesting.
