The highlight of my stay in addition to the skiing and spa, was the Club Lounge on the 8th floor for guests staying on that level. So far, it's a disaster: In room thermostat control does not go beyond 71. Tried to call front desk, calls get disconnected after minutes of ringing. Tried to call again in hotel phone, 45 minutes without answer. Called maint to the room, took over 10 minutes, maint guy showed up, and said "Something IS wrong"...not a good sign. We are told to call the front desk to change room temperatures...except no one answers the call! What a brilliant concept! ===========*=* Mick came down, told the front desk and us that it is now working, we went up to the room, it is again not working. Mick looked at the room thermostat panel and said "you can just press here (up/down arrow for temperature control) ... not sure why it's not working" So the 'secret method' the front desk mentioned is...press the buttons on the wall thermostat? ------------------ Another 20 minutes, and they can't find a room where the in-room thermostat control is working? I never knew this is the Taj Mahal where it will take days to go through the rooms ? ------------- For a place that is understaffed, they sure got securities available to intimidate customers ---------- Another update: director of rooms stopped by, because the person at the front desk Ozzie (?) does not have authority to do anything. Of course, she isn't happy with the fact that she has to come in her time off to handle a situation that took more than 2 hours that Ozzie can't handle. She said Ozzie said he gave us several options of different rooms, while in reality, Ozzie had only sent us back to the same room with the defective heating (507). Hard to deal with someone in the 'hospitality business that lies. Ozzie mentioned during this of an upgrade, but never actually offered an upgrade to us. Quite a pity they have to rely on the word of a dishonest employee over that of a customer and actions of their own maintenance crew. --------- This place is sad when they can't staff the hotel properly, yet have plenty of security around to keep an eye on us. The Alyeska Nordic Spa is very relaxing and appreciate the many amenities throughout our stay 30 March 2026. The only downside to the whole experience is the lack of Vegan friendly options at the Bistro spa restaurant. The only viable option for us was the hummus veggie tray $24 which looked like someone chopped up some vegetables and threw them on a tray. They did have a spa bowl $35 where you pick between a salmon protein or tofu. All the sauces available with the salmon are not offered (Animal products) for the Vegan option so basically you're left with a bowl of rice with no sauces. Some of our friends who eat meat have also been disappointed with the lackluster offerings and have started bringing their own food to eat in the locker room. We've traveled the world and experienced many Vegan fine dining/bistro experiences that were exquisitely prepared. It seems the Bistro spa is more of an after thought or doesn't garner as much support which stymies the chefs and kitchen staffs creativity. If the spa bistro can elevate the culinary experience with their guests this will become a draw for diners with exceptional tastes. The hotel honestly looks like its from The Shining lol. But in all honesty, you're paying for this place for it's isolation. The hotel itself, and the rooms, are a bit run down and begging for a renovation. Even the parking lot had numerous large pot hotels that made the drive a bit treacherous. Absolutely loved this resort! Held a work meeting here and the staff was fantastic from start to finish with accommodations, activity booking, food & bev and more! Highly recommend upgrading to the diamond level floor. Not only does it include a dedicated team of a superb customer service, but also a private lounge with continually stocked goodies, a special breakfast buffet, and the views are breathtaking. We stayed here for one night on our way to Denali. What a beautiful resort with nice grounds. While we were not here for skiing, we enjoyed our stay. They do have a cool tram that you can take to the top of the mountain, and there is a nice restaurant to enjoy. If you are coming, book this restaurant in advance ( we did not and could not get a table for dinner). A dinner reservation also means you do not have to pay for the tram fare. So while we could not stay for dinner, we enjoyed cocktails at the top of the mountain. Rooms were spacious, clean and well kept. Staff was very nice. This was a very disappointing mountain and resort for our entire group who loves Tahoe, Jackson Hole, and Colorado skiing. For $1,000 a night it is not worth the expense and will let you down. The ski in and ski out was great but not worth the added expense. If you want to come choose Airbnb closer to the Day Lodge for easy lift access. Let's start with the good: Most of the staff were friendly and accommodating, it is a beautiful location (Alaska is beautiful and a must experience!), there was plenty to do other than skiing in the surrounding town and a few decent (not great) restaurants on premise. Anchorage was only 45 minutes away which opens up even more options and makes for a short drive to the airport unless the weather is really bad. The highway to the resort is kept very well maintained. Even though a lot of the mountain runs were black and double black most of the runs could be done by intermediate skiers and the advanced ski instructors were interacted with were very good. The bad: 1. I was pretty disappointed with the customer service when it came to our reservations. We booked our late February trip for 6 nights back in November of last year and as told we could comfortably fit 4 people with 2 beds and a rollaway. Then we say a Black Friday special for 40% off and cancelled our original reservation and book with the special. When we called the week prior to make sure there would be a rollaway in the room when we arrived because it would not be until 1 am. When we called we were told that our original reservation would have accommodated that but the special was a renovated room that could only fit 2 doubles but there was no room for a pull away bed. In order to accommodate us we had to pay an additional $1,500 because we had to upgrade to a suite to get a pullout because the other types of rooms were sold out. They would not honor the original rate or the special. To make matters worse, the quote we received by email was $2,000 more before the large tax and resort fees were added. I have worked in customer service most of my life and this is just bad customer service. 2. This is out of their control so I am leaving this out of my rating but be aware that the conditions were not worth the trip. We got snow throughout but since December the weather has been above freezing and the only half way decent conditions were at the peak or if you go heli-skiing (which we could only get 1/4 day on the first try and 1/2 day on the second out of 5 ski days because of the ongoing weather). When speaking with the locals I was informed that due to the where the mountain was and the elevation the skiing was very similar to East Coast skiing. We expected great snow because this Alaska and further North and West than California. Nope! Expect sticky packed snow that melts during the day and freezes towards the middle and upper mountain at night. The snow was so wet and the light so flat that between the sun and slush sticking to my lenses I could not see a thing half the time. The night skiing was fun and I could actually see. The mountain is one the smallest I have been to. The map makes it look huge but it is deceivingly small. 3. You have to rent a car or take a shuttle to get around the town. Ubers were non-existent. It cost us $250 to get 5 people with ski bags and luggage from the airport to resport. If you get in earlier than we did you could possibly find a cheaper option, but this is who the hotel recommended. Global warming is really unfortunate for those of us who love to ski. This far north they have been more impacted than other areas surprisingly. You could get lucky, but the last really good snow storm was in November according to locals. Even when there is now the East Coast like conditions are not great and for the large price tag of a room and poor customer service you would be better off skiing elsewhere for a big trip. read more

Connor at check in was wonderful! Friendly, efficient, helpful. He offered a borealis wake up call. I had no idea that was even an option! He got me a lovely room with a beautiful view. Your rooms are incredible. And clean. So many lighting options. I used the spa for the outdoor hot pools and sauna and steam rooms. Expensive but worth it! What a magical night. My only complaint was my fault. I ordered some meatballs from room service and got upsold foccacia. It was not up to par with the rest of your hotel. The meatballs were very good however. read more

We were so excited to go to Oktoberfest. The food was awful. See pix of the Apple strudel. It looked like something bought from Costco and cost $9.50. It didn't have hardly any apples. The vanilla sauce tasted and had the texture of melted soft serve ice cream. The pretzel was the same thing - looked frozen from Costco. It was served with canned sauce. I don't remember how much it was. When McDonald's apple pies are better, there's a problem. For the 45 minutes we were there, the music was from a boom box. Huge waste of time and money. Also really disappointing considering that Alyeska has fantastic restaurants. Please bring back Java Hut and/or make this a community event like Forest Fair. As it is, don't bother next year. Do not believe their snow reports. Also when reading the snow report don't worry about the how much snow is reported at the top of GBX because it is not skiable terrain and the few trails they have up there are never open. They report 367 inches however the accurate number is recorded from the top which is 107 Inches. This practice about reporting how much snow you have out of bounds on terrain that is never open should be illegal. They do this so they can report the most amount of snow possible When in reality they don't get much snow year to year. read more

The staff at the hotel are not trained to provide minimum assistance. Communication between them is unreliable. The rooms have been updated, however; they continue to be unbearably hot (75 degrees) with no way of turning the thermostat down. Do not get the ski package. More often than not this year the mountain is not skiable or barely so and the lift tickets are nonrefundable. read more

We experienced a few minor issues with our reservations; however, the resort was very accommodating in relocating us to a different room. They are very polite and respectful to their guest. The Black Diamond 8th floor is well worth the upgrade. The attendants and service are there almost all day and evening. Sharon, who has been taking care of us this week, is wonderfully helpful and hard-working. The "forte" restaurant has a great menu. If Crab pasta sounds good, it is so much more than that; it is remarkably delicious. If you go, ask for Max. He is a great server, and he will take very good care of you. We plan to return to the resort every year. It is so relaxing in the summer. I am sure the skiing is excellent, but my wife and I have knees that have been through a lot. We are too old for that. So the beautiful summer days with sunshine and mid-60s temps each day. The resort is a great relaxing stopover on a summer vacation. Note: As others said the rooms are older. As opposed to other's opinions that it's "outdated", I see it as rustic/hunter. Could it use a refresh? Sure. Personally though, I like the look. Off-season Activities: Hiking, sight seeing, swimming, resort restaurants, massage, spa, fireside relaxing and fine dining on the summit. This is my second visit in 6 years and service/food has consistently been good. What's better: We beat our record hiking Aleyaska Mountain! Though, on the lift down, someone saw a black bear !! This hotel was a pure disappointment. I can't express to you enough how low quality this façade was! The entire place was run by children, and I felt no luxury from any area of this hotel whatsoever. To start no one offered to help us take our very large bags to our room, now I understand that is a "champagne" problem but that's not a great first impression. Then we get into the room and the view is nice, since it is the only hotel/ building in the mountains for miles, so every room has a beautiful view. The room itself was tiny. 550 sqft is listed on line and I'm sure they're counting the bathroom and closets. But the hotel we stayed out in downtown Anchorage was a lot cheaper and had better hospitality and the room felt a lot bigger. And they had chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us at our check in. The restaurants in the hotel itself were closed and unavailable the gift shops that were available were only open for maybe an hour that we were there and then closed the rest of the day and didn't open until after we checked out for the day the next day. We made a reservation for dinner at their Seven Glaciers restaurant and had high expectations for that experience and again was completelylet down. First things first the view was amazing so you're definitely paying for that. The food was OK above average. The service was definitely above average. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable and kind. He did make us feel a little rushed at the beginning. I did express for him to pace himself and slow down which he did and then the rest of the evening went by a little bit more smoothly, then there was a couple, of young women that were seated directly behind my husband's shoulder. They were slovenly dressed in ripped jeans, flip flops, and tank tops. I told restaurant briefly how the two women behind us made our dining experience uncomfortable. The server expedited their food and slowed ours down. They discussed inappropriate things like drugs and spending daddy's money and buying additional plates of dinner and not caring about the cost of anything, just things that were really unrealistic and inappropriate for dining experience that we were trying to have during essentially our honeymoon dinner. None of them maintained any sort of professionalism in front 2 well dressed hotel guests. So what did they do? They started swinging the tram, aggressively. (About 5-10 minutes) I was so stressed I went I was on my was my back font the restaurant, literally tears were running down my face. We went to the front desk and told them what happened and want the name of the server, we explained that the server wasn't on the tram and they were just restaurant staff. What looked like was seemed like a teenager went to the back to discuss the issue with someone else, she came back chipper and laughing. She said that there was nothing she could do because she could see we were checking out at 6am and they were going to give us complimentary breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel, but they won't be open in time. So they didn't have anything to offer. Nothing. On our honey moon. The least they could do would offer a couple glasses of wine for the room or some chocolates, something! I called my travel agent to have her talk to her connection in Alaska to tell them all about our experiences we had with the hotel and the restaurant and detour future business from them and I don't ever plan on making a return visit there nor would I ever recommend this place to any of my loved ones. read more

what an incredible place. ONE huge (yea, I know, first world!) complaint that seems to be a pandemic. Resorts like this always try to funnel their COFEE and HOT BEVERAGE business thru a vendor that is on site. That is fine. I'm certain it makes most $$ sense for all. But, like MANY experiences, this one was AWFUL. The shop vendor had a single employee working at 7:30 a.m., there was a line of 10 people, and each order was taking this poor kid a few minutes each to process thru. He was working hard, so definitely not on him. Summary: it is completely rediculous for an incredible resort to swing and WIFF on something as basic as a cup of coffee. Can't stand this as a process and it fails more than it succeeds. read more

We had a lot of hiccups here. First, our room's HVAC was malfunctioning and our room heated up to 80 degrees (it was mid March and 20 degrees outside). Luckily, they were able to move us to another room. Additionally, we were accidentally double-charged for the spa, since we booked it with a stay package but the receptionist....didn't understand that. We spoke to the front desk and got a refund immediately for the double charge. Despite these hiccups, the view is incredible. We don't ski, we were there for the spa, and the spa was heavenly. It was a chaotic time for the resort, apparently their last day of spring break and ALSO a wedding, so maybe that caused more hiccups than usual. I'd still recommend it, just make sure you communicate with the front desk if you have any issues. read more

Although I did not stay overnight here, I was fortunate enough to spend the day here and had a marvelous time! I highly recommend taking the gondola ride to the summit. My husband and I purchased round trip tickets which included a pint of beer at the summit- score! There's a cute gift shop located at the summit along with a restaurant. There's hiking trails located throughout this area and you can also hike your way to the top and vice versa, treat yourself to a burger and beer, FYI! This resort is really an outdoor lovers paradise. It's beautifully landscaped in the summer, with sweeping mountain views! read more

We had hear this resort had a lift to the top of a mountain with a restaurant and it was near Anchorage so we planned a day. It was a nice old-time hotel...lots of wood with a big fireplace. Connected to the main hotel outside is the lift to the top of the mountain. The 1st price I saw was $89 which I thought " that's to expensive!" The clerk quickly said look near the bottom and I saw $37 each with $20 credit for food so that made it better. At the top it started to snow and there was snow on the mountain. The food was good, hardy sandwiches, fries and such. Of course the main business would be ski time but this time of year people still like to see the scenery and such. read more

Hands down the nicest place we stayed in AK. Now this is the type of hotel that speaks to me! This place was perfect from the moment we drove up. Big Deer Valley, UT vibes. After a road trip and stay overs in several other small towns wrapping up my birthday trip at Alyeska felt special. This hotel smells sooo good, it's one of those. I love it! The rooms are very nice, robe game on point and the salt water indoor heated pool and hot tub are heaven! A literal dream. We booked the 10p and it was limited to ten people total which was perfect for social distancing. Part of me wishes I would have booked in here the entire week but it really did end an otherwise odd trip in October to AK. I did eat breakfast here on our departure morning and it was fine enough, nothing too special. The property is very nice and I can see returning during winter season for the full experience when you can hit the slopes and all. read more

The hotel nearly doubled their prices last year, and now there's an additional upcharge of $30/night for remodeled rooms. I understand the property needed a refresh, but the designer must not have ever stayed multiple nights in a hotel room before at a ski resort. They made the room less useful for staying and just more aesthetically pleasing. They eliminated the sconce lights next to beds, replacing with a lamp, taking up valuable counter space. Rooms used to have two lounge chairs, tiny table, plus a desk, chair and bench; it's been "re-designed" with only one desk, one chair, and tinier bench, at the entry, mind you. No more table that you could eat room service on, replaced with a desk with a hutch and ONLY ONE CHAIR. The desk is pretty, with an undercabinet light and handy outlet & USB, but less useful for the room. The drawered-bureau was replaced with a cabinet that has three drawers, a slidy thing that's just in the way, and shelves. It should all just be drawers. Still no microwave for popcorn, but at least there's still a keurig with Kaladi coffee and a mini fridge (no freezer in it, tho, so you'll have to eat that Wild Scoops from the Sundry in one sitting). No actual creamers, just the one packet of powder and sugar in pre-made coffee "kits." And would it kill them to put a gazillion more hooks in the room and bathroom? Towels from pool/showering and snow gear need hooks to hang on. The "designer" thought NOTHING of snow gear, ski/board boots, etc. Why not a handy set of shelves at the door that would fit these ski boots? Shelves or hooks for snow gear?? They should've asked me or sent out a survey! I get that buying new chairs for rooms is expensive, but it could have been so much better - or just keep it the same and stop raising prices. read more

We enjoyed a two-night stay in mid-June. Great experience and accommodating staff. It is extremely quiet here which was very refreshing. We took the tram to Seven Glacier Restaurant and enjoyed the "Nightcap Menu." (Did not have a great view as clouds had settled in, but the ambiance was lovely). Summary: Breathtaking location. Wonderful staff. Fun excursion options. Dated rooms. Average food. Mosquitos. First vacation to Alaska and we stayed at the Alyeska based on recommendations of friends. Was a good trip in and stopped off for Moosetooth pizza on the way in. One the way, we saw a momma moose galloping on the highway with her calf. The common spaces are gorgeous and it's hard not to be impressed. The suited are more dated-- very much a 1990s/2000s feel. For folks like us, inexperienced with Alaska daylight, its is really trippy to have sunlight at 10PM-- thank you for the blockout curtains! Excursions are accessible from the resort and the concierge was super helpful. We did the trek with the huskies and the girls loved the puppies and were adopted/watched over by one of the older female dogs. The glacier cruise was enjoyable; amazing to see the wilderness and ice formations. Also visited an animal refuge where we saw moose, bison, bears, and more. Food options were only okay. Seafood was more their forte. But the cost and quality were a miss for us. Expected a higher caliber for an impressive location and impression. Note that mosquitos are ever present guests at the resort and it's important to bring some Off/Deet. We encountered them upon arrival, as soon as the driver opened the doors. They are less present in the rear courtyard areas, at least. It's wilderness, so we should have expected and one just needs to be prepared. read more

I can't say enough about this place. I fell in love with Girdwood already, and this place was the cherry on top. It is five star, beautiful and displays everything you could ever imagine when thinking about Alaska. I came here for a massage at the spot and a dayin the springs and saunas after playing in a hockey tournament, and I had the best massage of my entire life. This place is magical. We've stayed at the resort with great rooms and restaurants, but mostly we come down on day trips from Anchorage to Snow Ski Baby! If you like to ski or snowboard and have beautiful winter vistas and the perks of top tier amenities here's your place. 2020 skiing/snowboarding has, this year, been PHENOMENAL with great snow dumps making the slopes the best in 3 years! The weather has had some beautiful clear days for skiing. I'm a Blue and Greens skier. I've done Black Diamonds on the East Coast, Ha, but West Coast Alaska boasts Double Diamonds! I'm not there yet but years ago we got our daughter Leila the figure skater into skiing and she took to it like a duck to water! In only the first season of taking classes from the ski school, she moved up to the top level! She's a Double Diamond skier to this day! Judy not skiing in the last couple years when she wants to get into it again, she takes a refresher course, they have really good deals for Ski Classes with equipment rentals. We have some of our own equipment, like boots, goggles, poles and helmets and rent the skis which at the Day Lodge they give a discount when renting if you have some of your own stuff! But we just bought Leila new skis online yesterday will get them fitted at REI. If you go to the Lodge ticket counter inside, close to the Tram you can get Student Passes that give a discount to HS and College Students 20% Off. Add a credit card to the Student account and anywhere they can get food and drink and it hits your card only after using a lift when skiing. Here's a TIP - Annual passes are 50% off if you buy them in Summer! What's $1200-1500 is $600-$750 WHAT!!?!! Yup! Soooo, go get your ski or snowboarding on in Alaska! read more

Love Alyeska! Always great views and good service! We took our kids to their annual egg hunt and went to their Easter brunch event. It was all well done and full of holiday spirit! My only suggestion for the hunt is that they split the age groups up for the hunt more. The age 6-12 group was far too broad a gap between the youngest and oldest. You'd have to be one fast and furious 6 year old to get many eggs! My 8 year old didn't find any and there two others around her age who didn't get any either. In reality it's not that big of a deal, but when you are trying to comfort your kid while they're looking at everyone else coming back with huge bucketfuls, it's not super cheery. The petting zoo was the BEST touch and our saving grace lol. My 5 year old did find about 10 eggs, but he was pretty overwhelmed by the intensity and pressure of trying to beat other kids to the eggs. All and all neither of my kids wants to do it again next year - too anxiety provoking! It probably just really depends on what type kid you have, but it's good to know what to expect before you go! Plenty of other kids really seemed to enjoy it! The Easter Brunch was delicious, but considering how much we paid for it, not worth it. Disneyland Character breakfasts are cheaper if that gives you an idea. I was expecting a little more to be honest, like at least an Easter Bunny appearance or door prizes or SOMETHING that would justify that price. It's really just a buffet, and the kid- friendly options were pretty minimal and basic for how many kids there were. Do a pasta bar or something! So many parents were using this opportunity to try to get their kids to try new things....if the event had leaned into that a bit more I might have considered it to be a bit more worth it. They charged a mandatory 20% tip and the wait staff never even came over to refill coffee or drinks. The set up is also not great for someone with PTSD - there wasn't a single table or chair to sit where there wouldn't be people walking behind you. My husband's a veteran and he was on edge the whole time. Not an event I'd specifically recommend spending a whole lot of money on, and I'm now a bit skeptical of their other events, but the hotel itself is excellent:) read more

This review is mostly for the spa. A few things to note for those hoping to use the spa and I hope the spa management sees this review as well. - Please provide an option for re-entry for the all-day spa. Much too expensive to not have this option. - why put drywall in the hallway of the sauna? It's a poor choice of building materials in an environment that's constantly humid and damp. It was cracking and had some water damage, possibly moldy. - Broken light inside one of the saunas made it an interesting adventure, feeling your way through the dark and hoping you don't grab a stranger by accident. Also a safety hazard for obvious reasons. - they were salting the walkway with de-icer. which was very concerning considering that people walk over it and then walk into the pools, and chemicals are seeping into the water. - Much too expensive for what you get. Considering these faulty areas, it's just not worth it. With that said, the hotel itself is very conveniently located near the ski resort which makes for a fantastic experience. Restaurant options were decent, not great. The fancy restaurant on top of the mountain was wonderful. read more

We drove in just for the view. The kids hiked to the top and the Grandparents took the tram. Got to the top, took some pics and drank a beer. Nice clear day. read more
