Decided to see "The Glass Menagerie " on the last day. I was able to park near the entrance but I can see when classes are not in session there is plenty of parking spaces. I purchased my ticket at the box office and the young man as well as the ushers were very cordial. The center is nice and welcoming. We were in The Sirote Theatre. The seats were comfortable and the view was great. Overall a nice experience and the cast did an awesome job!

After being at about 4 events I have come to a conclusion ...I absolutely love this place. My most recent Adventure was the Tango show. What a treat it was to have such incredible performers right here in Birmingham. What an even better honor that we have such a wonderful state-of-the-art facility to host such Talent. The thing I love most about this facility is that it is so well-maintained. Even the events that don't use the stage, for example the Yelp Gathering, are always well laid out and there is plenty of space to be utilized. What more can I say than I really am excited each time I get to go to this place for an event

Brian McKnight was gracious enough to bask concert goers with his presence after the show- circa 2013

Love this venue! A few years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Brian McKnight here after a stellar concert. I had always wanted to see him perform, and the Alys Stephens Center was the perfect choice for such an intimate concert. My date and I loved the performance and the ambience. Ive also attended the annual Local Fest here, and a few other events and I can't say I've ever had a bad experience. Can't wait to attend another event here soon!

Always a good time here. Tonight? Symphony. Next visit? Victor Wooten!!!! You never know who you'll see in the audience.

This is a spectacular venue that is right on UAB's campus. I have enjoyed everything from Symphony Orchestra performances, to Sam Bush Bluegrass, to Matisyahu reggaie. This is a truly smorgasbord of music greatness. The facility itself is incredibly beautiful. And the staff has always been friendly. The lines are fast. The seats are comfortable. And the performers they bring in are of the greatest quality in what they do. I have sat all over the concert hall and I'm not sure there is a bad seat in the house.

Beautiful performing arts center. They have great shows and events. It's a non-profit and needs local support. Checkout their schedule.

It is a beautiful and elegant venue that has been renovated over the years but kept its identity to its original state. I've attended several events here over the years, from concerts, to movies to guest speakers. My high school graduation was held here back in 1997. There are usually snacks such as popcorn available for purchase and beverages. I don't remember other food being available. The staff is always pleasant and ready to assist. Pro Tip: The seating on the lower level is much more comfy than upstairs, especially if you are hippy or curvy or just want more room. Buy your tickets keeping this in mind.

I'm not sure about prices, I didn't have any. I don't think any of the seats are bad for viewing the stage.i do think that they should invest funds into renovating or replacing the seats. The seats are short, low and small. They also do not have an elevator. Be prepared to climb many stairs if you don't purchase floor seats. They seemed to have improved the sound system, which really made the musical experience better. I thoroughly enjoyed Orchestra Noir and can't wait to see them again next year. I will definitely go back.

Theatre Downtown might be for you if you're downtown and you like Theatre!…read more I really had a great time viewing the production of "Bob: A Life in Five Acts" here at this venue. If nobody told you about it, I'm really not sure how you'd know it's here. It's tucked away in the upper level of an antique store. Sounds really random, and it is, but it somewhat adds to what this place is offering! Before the show starts and during intermissions, you'll be able to tour the upstairs of the antique store... which is large btw! Real character, this place has. There's popcorn and candy for purchase before entering the theater. It's pretty much a black box with stadium seating, a short platform stage and everything from sound to lights seemed somewhat rigged but fully functioning of course! You don't have to go Broadway to see a good theater performance and this Birmingham locale is the perfect example of such! This ecclectic theater atmosphere just may suit your fancy for a new evening activity in the city!

Theatre Downtown is great alternative place to experience the theatre here in Birmingham. Located…read moreon the top floor of Fifth Avenue Antiques, this location is certainly unique when it comes to the performing arts. The actual theatre itself is on the smallish side, which I think makes for a more personal experience. Because seating is limited, be sure to get there early for your front row seats! The first night of each show is "hobo night" where you can pay whatever you want to see the show. Theatre can get expensive, so I appreciate this option. I'm not sure if there is an age-limit to the shows here, but I'm going to assume that most aren't kid friendly as there have been pretty adult themes (language, particularly) in the shows that I've seen.

In all honesty the credit for that goes to our hosts who were most gracious to have us come and celebrate their daughter's nuptials. Onto the review. The buffet was good. The bartenders understood the task at hand with an all knowing wink indicating they'll do it, but it's a bad idea. As to the ambiance, as is well known, you can't beat the view.

I had the corn and green tomato soup (not pictured). I thought it would look and taste differently. It was a broth base, and I assumed it was going to be more or a bisque or puréed vegetable base. It did not look appetizing at all. The tortilla strips served on the side should be left off the plate because they aren't good and add no value to the dish. I was craving a steak and the kitchen graciously not only gave my options (flank vs. petite filet) but agreed to make it. However, I wish they had said "no" and said they couldn't do it. It was extremely underwhelming. I had to send it back because the first dish was gray and overcooked for medium rare. The set-up on the plate was fine (succotash and gnocchi), but I hated that there was little color contrast with the yellow pea shoots as a garnish. It definitely took away from the overall presentation of the dish. There were other issues with the temps of the food st my table as well. It appears that there's fundamental difficulty in cooking at either end of the spectrums but they do a great job at medium. Overall, great service, great view...food- completely underwhelming and glad I didn't have to pay for it.
