Red Mountain is an awesome community theater that offers broadway like productions throughout the year. The shows are professional, and the talent is impressive. The Red Mountain Theater organization has been providing Birmingham with musical performances for many years, but they didn't have a permanent home until now. The new location opened in 2021, and it is spectacular. It is located in the heart of the city on 3rd avenue about a block away from Regions Field. The new location is not just a theater, it is an arts campus that encompasses everything to support musical theater. The main theater seats about 450 people. The theater is very well designed, and there isn't a bad seat in the house. You need to experience it to truly appreciate how nice it is. Red Mountain Theater is one of those little gems that makes Birmingham special. The permanent campus is amazing, and a game changer for the arts community. read more

I am so very happy that Red Mountain Theater finally has a grade A home! The theater offers a variety of youth and adult dance, acting, and other art related classes. They also put on fabulous productions throughout the year that reflect their hard work. I've had the pleasure of experiencing RMT personally (as a guest) and professionally. My fav show was their 2022 holiday spectacular It was a collection of songs performed by kids of all ages and a few core adults. From the streamlined check-in and seating processes, to the tasty drinks prepared by the in house bartenders, everything flowed smoothly. Whenever I've worked with the RMT for smaller productions or professional development events, their team has been quick to respond and very supportive on the day of. Drew, their Director of Operations, is a joy to work with. You'll see him zipping around the theater tackling different tasks but he manages to keep the ball rolling every time. I've also grown fond of their ushers who also step in and assist in a variety of ways. This is so much more than a local community theater. The Director was borrowed from Broadway, yes, the one in New York, to do a show here a few years ago and he loved it so much he stayed. I'm Susan member and wouldn't miss a show for anything. a lot of the talent is local and some is brought in. The theater is comfortable and every seat feels intimate. Love the Red Mountain Theatre! I had avoided it for so long because I pictured a dinky little community theatre. I also love watching the touring broadway shows and just thought this place wouldn't meet my expectations. I was really blown away by Beautiful the Carol King musical - some of the lead roles had broadway experience. The production was great. Every show we have seen here has been phenomenal! There is so much talent in each production. We love to grab our fish food (they have free goldfish snacks), a cocktail from the bar (use your RMT tumbler to take it in the theater), and settle into our comfortable seats for some of the best entertainment Birmingham has to offer! My sister invited me to go with her to see the Color Purple at the red mountain theater. Walking in, there was a lot of excitement as people was getting the drinks and the theater had free gold fish snacks out. When it became time for it to start people poured in to find their seats. The theater had very nice ushers helping everyone find their seats. The play itself was perfection. The cast's performance and singing was out of this world. The stage props, lighting, and the costumes were great. Everyone did a wonderful job and is very talented. I would highly recommend going to see these performances at the red mountain theater. read more

This is one of my favorite theaters in town. The layout provides for an intimate setting and their isn't a bad seat in the house. Surprised my beauty and the beast obsessed daughter with tickets to see Disney Beauty and the Beast Broadway Musical the week of her bday last June. We have really enjoyed my mother-n-laws season tickets. When she first told us that she had gotten season tickets, I thought oh no we are going to have to go to plays all summer. However, it have been really fun! My husband and I went and saw Little House of Horrors and it was really good. It was super long but good. This production was located in the smallest theater. And they have complimentary gold fish with is kind cool. You can also buy other snacks, drinks, beer, and wine. My mother-n-law and I went to see My Fair Lady and it was AWESOME!! This was a bigger production and was located in a bigger theater. We had an awesome time and the actors and actresses are great!! This is a great, fun thing to do! I highly recommend it!! read more

I LOVE this theater! So far Ive experienced a movie screening and the Tragedy of Carmen and while they were both completely different experiences, they were both great! My first visit was during the Sidewalk Film Festival. I originally went to the wrong location so be aware that this is located in DOWNTOWN BIRMINGHAM. When we did reach our destination, we were surprised by the location. We had no idea a theatre was hidden below the corporate blocks! A security card ushered us in and we proceeded down tbe stairs into the basement theatre. It was such a nice place! Tastefully decorated with intimate and comfortable seating. There's a bar in the back and Wi-Fi that you're free to use. We really enjoyed the movie screening and this new gem! read more

This is my second time visiting the theater. The first time was for an environmental film festival and tonight I had the pleasure of seeing The Color Purple. I love how nice and intimate this place is. The lighting is just right and boy did I have great seats. I really felt like I was apart of the play lol. The cast did a great job and they put on one heck of a show. The singing was flawless and I was amazed by the performance of every single cast member. We just saw Mary Poppins. The show was wonderful. It was beyond my expectations. This was our fourth time to see a RMTC production. We have seen Grease, Young Frankenstein, 101 Dalmations Jr. and Mary Poppins. The other 3 were at the Cabaret Theatre which is in a basement. We think of it as Birmingham's hidden gem! I had no idea it was as is until we decided to check out Grease. Now we are hooked! It's great for date nights/afternoons, children for some shows and a place to take someone just visiting the area. I grew up in England attending musical productions in Oxford and London. I am glad Birmingham has RMTC for a little piece of home and to introduce as a parent. read more
