We heard this place was good so we decided to try. We ordered a few items. The salad rolls was good, but nothing special. The lemongrass chicken on rice was better. The chicken wasn't dry and I can actually taste the lemongrass flavor, not like some other places. The service was okay, it was busy and there was just one guy doing the orders, getting the food and doing the till. Maybe they didn't think it would be too busy on a weekday. read more

I'm sorry but $23 is too expensive for a chicken noodle soup. That's crazy. Plus they strangely leave out the Pho soup prices on the menu. I could buy an entire organic roast chicken at Whole Foods for less. Plus they have the nerve to charge extra for a " more vegetables " request, as there's hardly any in the soup to begin with. Not a bad place for Banh Mi in the Victoria area. Got their chicken and Alysa's special to go. Both were served on fresh, toasty buns with tasty proteins. There wasnt much chicken to go around and the veggies weren't too plentiful either but the kind service from who i'm assuming is the owner makes up for it! She was friendly and wanted to talk with us and know where we were from! Overall, go here just for the friendly faces but try out some tasty viet subs too! read more

Coming from the Bay Area where there's plenty of good Vietnamese food, Alysa's Pho is really good! They make good Southern style Pho here and it's authentic! The owners are from Saigon, VN so you know it's good :). The broth is so flavorful, so flavorful that I didn't need any sauces! It was honestly good as it is. Portions are huge and service is nice and friendly. Highly recommend trying for some authentic Vietnamese food in Victoria! read more

Must have been an off day here. Stopped in for dinner based on the high ratings but all of our dishes (vermicelli bowl with lemongrass chicken and lemongrass chicken & rice + fried egg and a spring roll) were really just meh with very bland flavor. The inside of the spring roll was mushy and also bland. In every dish the fish sauce dip was the only saving grace. The place also seems to be 75% Skip/Uber etc. business as the inside was virtually empty. Staff was very responsive and nice. As far as ambience it was pretty basic with a big screen showing aquarium video and we got the feeling that they were still spacing the tables as they were during the pandemic. For me a restaurant's food followed by service and then ambience are the the top 3 requirements to strive for excellence. Here our experience was nowhere close to a 5 star. read more

This is a classic mom & pop shop that served delicious Bahn mi! What an absolute treat. My partner and I have tried quite a few Vietnamese restaurants in Victoria, and this establishment is definitely top 2 for their delectable baguettes. Not too much bun, not too crunchy, great pickled veggies and wonderfully made pork and chicken. One bite in and we were blown away. Would have had rated it 5/5 stars but we had ordered a fried roll and it was so awfully greasy we couldn't finish it.. The one waiter was so lovely and pleasant, he was super polite! read more

I recently moved to Victoria from Ontario and immediately I noticed the lack of authentic Vietnamese foods ... until I found Alysa's Pho & Banh Mi. Today I ordered for take out Phở Đặt Biệt, bún thịt nướng chả giò, gỏi cuốn & chè dậu đỏ ... and everything was delicious ... just like in Ontario. This place truly serves up authentic Vietnamese dishes. I normally don't give out 5 stars in my reviews ... but this place serves up the best Vietnanese foods in Victoria by far. Great pho you! Alysa keeps the menu simple. Pho, appetizers and bahn mi sandwiches. No rice dishes. The pho noodles were excellent. The soup base was one of the best we have ever had. It was not oily and did not taste like it was loaded with MSG. We also had the grilled pork. The French bread they use for the bahn mi is excellent. We had a great lunch. The service was excellent and the food was good and flavorful-- it was my first time trying Pho so I don't have anything else to compare it to, but this was very comforting, good portions and decent price--will be back. I was excited to see a Vietnamese restaurant had opened in Quadra village and it did not disappoint. I tried the pulled chicken banh mi and my date had the meatball pho. The meat was chewy, sweet and spicy and the picked carrot and turnip fresh and crispy. Garlic mayo in there as well. As for the pho the broth was well spiced, rich and authentic. This place is on it's way to being my favourite in the city. Go try it! read more

First time trying Alysa's today! My colleagues and I decided to get take-out. We called in a little before lunch and when we got there we had to wait just a little longer than expected. However we were greeted with the best customer service and the staff kept apologising for the delay even though we weren't in a hurry at all. I ordered the grilled chicken banh mi and the papaya salad while my colleagues all had ordered pho. BEST BANH MI IN VICTORIA! Hands down. I moved here from Calgary and I grew up with very many (and very authentic) banh mi shops around. Since moving, I haven't found a good (reasonable) one. $6 for lunch, you really can't beat that. Delicious, fresh, filling, and customer service that'll bring us back time and time again. Next time I will be trying the pho and rolls. :) read more

Quality Food & Cordial Service As a Vietnamese American couple, we could vow this place is a must try if you explore Victoria, especially because its location near downtown. We enjoyed Banh Mi -- a french influenced Vietnamese sandwich -- that is way better in term of quality than a well-known famous Banh Mi place in Oregon. Their sauce for Spring rolls (Appetizer) is just the right taste. Second, Bun Bo Hue (their specialty) is tasty, full of flavor because of their homemade effort. We also love their homemade cranberry jam flavorful with medicinal use of authentic minced licorice root and ginger. Above all, their cordiality impressed us. The restaurant owners shared with us their hard working histories and commitment to ensure their services, not only in their restaurant business, have been the best of their effort. A lovely couple, we must say! We will definitely visit them again when we return to Victoria BC next time. read more

The flavour profiles are lacking, their portion sizes are abysmal, and even if you pay extra $ for extra add-ons to bulk it up, you still don't get what you would at any other pho/banh mi place for the same amount. Came to Alysa's for some pho takeout tonight to battle a cold. While waiting for my order I was offered some very delicious vietnamese tea. The family that runs this restaurant is very kind and you can tell the food is made with love. The steak in my pho was thinly cut, the soup broth was deeply flavoured and the sprouts, herbs and lime were super fresh. the spring rolls were also the bomb, as was the banh mi (super flakey yummy bread roll!) The pho is excellent. Fresh produce used. There is a red version as well which is also good. The Banh mi on the other hand is just ok.

Just finished a meal here. Broth could use some depth of flavour. It tasted like water and hot sauce. I heard the microwave being used alot. It may have been an off day but I likely will not be making a return visit. read more
