Alyssa took a lot of time explaining to me the process of what she was going to do and how she was going to do it, and she made sure to get the opinions of other stylists in the salon before beginning. I felt fully comfortable and aware of how it was going to go and what it was going to look like. It turned out great! When Alyssa opened her own studio, I had to follow her. Alyssa is the BEST! I was so nervous to find a new salon in San Diego when I moved here four years ago. After my first visit with Alyssa, I was hooked! From then on I wasn't about to let anyone touch my hair. She has also been so helpful with catering to my needs. For example, I was getting blonde partial highlights when I first met her, but had a five month deployment coming up. Obviously my root growth wouldn't last the whole deployment but Alyssa has the perfect fix. She transitioned me to balayage highlights which allowed my roots to grow out in a natural fashion vice a harsh line and it was perfect! This review is long overdue as I have been going to Alyssa for years and can't ever imagine going to anyone else for my hair. When it comes to coloring blondes, I spent years trying to find the perfect blonde colorist in San Diego only to leave salons with green or orange hair, color that washed out and dulled quickly and highlights that indicated my colorist did not understand the meaning of "subtle." I must have gone through almost 2 dozen stylists/salons in my search before I found Alyssa. She does INCREDIBLE color and cuts and most importantly, she really takes the time to listen and understand what her clients need and are asking for... even if they don't quite know yet and can't articulate it! She's a mind reader in those situations and I always leave loving my hair. I'm so happy she has her own studio now and I love going to her little zen den of a space. Raw talent and ambiance are probably the most important things when looking for a space and colorist to trust your hair with for 3-5 hours at a time, but on top of that Alyssa just happens to be one of the sweetest people I've ever met.
