Was the merch girl a charming joy sprite? Yep! Were people dancing and swaying and smiling AND LOVING LIFE MUSIC AFTER TWO YEARS OF LOCK DOWN? yassss but here's what broke my heart with poignancy. 3 girls - women! out front working the gig heard I turned 60 that night and I had driven 7 hours for the privilege. heard because I said lol I asked if there were any posters of the night lying around because it would mean a lot to me. So a few songs at the end of the two hour show, one of those three angels of kindness found me in the crowd and excitedly gave me the poster she dug out in back and hurried away. for free. I want to preface this by pointing out that I am not at all- in any way, shape, or form (see what I…read moredid there)-artistic! And you know what, I am fine with that. So, when the opportunity arose to test out "A Taste of Art" I jumped at it. I wanted to see just how far I could push my lack of talent and see what results would be gathered from the experience. I attended a Paint and Sip evening at Butch + Babe's restaurant in Burlington. Upon walking in, the first thing I noticed was the intimate size of the space and that there were a few too-many-tables-to-count set up in the far right side of the restaurant for the paint event. Aside from that, I also observed a confident presence. Standing at the head of the table was a warm, eager looking lady whom I later came to learn was Sue herself! Sue had already taken the time to set up each one of our canvases, paint dollops, brushes, water, and even aprons! Though the space was a bit tight, I really felt that we had adequate room to maneuver our inner artists! Sue began the sessions by telling us a tiny bit about herself and her business. She then showed us the painting we would use as a guide and gently began to introduce us into the world of painting. I found Sue to be quite instructional and pleasant. Though she was at the very front of the space, she took the time to really engage with all of us on an individual basis. She did her best to accommodate our random artistic whims and really worked with individuals to guide them in adding character to their paintings. Sue is real, relate able, and has a calm, soothing way about her. She is very passionate about what she does and she wants to share it with the world. So go on, go hang out with Sue; bring out the artist within!

At both events Sue walked us all thru a painting (the sunflowers and the snowman if you review the photos - note - those aren't my photos!) With the exception of the art credit I need for my electives, I tend to be more a spreadsheet kinda girl verses creative.... Sue can make anyone an artist! Trust me a little wine helps with any nerves you might have too! Both results were fantastic and I have them hanging proudly on my wall. If you want a fun night out with friends that isn't your normal dinner and drinks, try one of Sue's events!

The kitchen was a huge bonus. Our hosts Sarah and Mark are wonderful and very accommodating. The beds seem new and are those thick fancy mattresses for a great nights sleep. Pool is also clean and refreshing after a hot busy day. And prices are VERY reasonable. Inside a little dated in some rooms but still clean and upgrades have been made where is counts, bathrooms and beds. Definitely worth it.

She was always readily available to speak by phone and organized all of our thoughts in one easy-to-see place, which we really appreciated. She had great vendor recommendations. She also was perfect on our wedding weekend. I was totally confident that she would handle any potential problems. Our event ran seamlessly and on time! And we had a day-of dance floor snafu (it was lumpy on that Adirondack grass) that she handled without a blink (she was at the hardware store before we even knew about it). We stayed in room 6 at the main building, which is right off the dining room as described. However, you can hear people in the kitchen/dining room as if they were in bed with you so dont expect to get any sleep after a long days hike. The kitchen doesnt open until 8am, which is a bit on the late side for getting an early start hiking. In addition, the most you get here is bread and cereal. I have been to many B&B's with continental breakfast and they at least offer a hot vat of oatmeal, especially for your hikers who need the heartiness. The kitchen also completely closes at some point. I couldn't even boil water to make my own oatmeal before we headed out. I will say that the bread that was made and coffee were delicious. I just expected a little more especially because I have stayed at other B&B's in the area. The bed was lumpy and sagging....not what you want to rest a sore tired body on. The bedroom was clean and the shower provided great hot water pressure. It is walking distance to the town which is great and a short drive to the main trail heads. Location is good.

I communicated that I would like one of the Kissing balls and I was told $50. Knowing that $50 was significantly overpriced, I said no thank you and exited the store. As I was walking away the store owner yelled, " try finding them cheaper someplace else". I responded, "I'll find someone to sell them at a reasonable price". After I exited the store and made my way to the car, the store owner chased after me calling me an asshole and giving me the finger. For the record as predicted I found the same item from another local business for 30% less.
