Let me start by giving the history of why I needed a locksmith. I recently bought a 1955 Chevy 3100 Truck that only came with 1 key. I called around to multiple shops and wanted to deal with a storefront, I figured a physical store would have more items in stock to choose from. Nothing against a mobile service, I just knew what I needed and wanted. I live in East Contra Costa, AM/PM was my last call, I spoke with a person on the phone, told them my issue, and sent a pic of my key to his number. A few minutes later, I got a text that they had my key plate in stock. I made a trip over the hill to their Concord store on Meadow Lane and they hooked me up. I had 3 copies made, they let met check each key to make sure they worked on my 55, each copy was stellar! I felt like I got good value and service for what I needed and it was worth the drive to get keys made for a 70 year old truck. Called them at 10 to ask for some automotive lock keys made, showed up at 11, left us for hours to work on another job before coming back, only got one door working, and charged us $140. Also, if you ask them to come to you and you opt to pay by card, the way they accepted it was by asking for our card number and calling someone at the store to manually type it in. I came here to have my FOB reprogrammed. They were having trouble getting this done because I have an older car. Finally, they were able to program it and I paid $90. I also needed my front driver door lock adjusted as it was intermittently sticking. The guy said he could do this for $180 and that it would take 90 minutes. I didn't have time that day so he said to come back during the week (I was there on a Saturday). The FOB worked for a few days, but then stopped working. I decided to have it looked at when I brought the car back for the lock. When I went back the guy who I had worked with on Saturday was not there. I told the guy who was there that I had been quoted $180. He said, "We usually charge a lot more, but I'll do it for $180." I told him about the FOB and he said it would be "no problem" to fix. Watching him and his colleagues try to fix my lock was like watching the 3 stooges with my grandma. They had 6 different guys looking at it, running back and forth with different tools, etc..Finally, they were able to get the door lock to work, but told me they couldn't fix the FOB because it "had never worked." Huh? One of the guys who had been standing around on Saturday said that he had been there when I had previously come to the shop and that the FOB had "never worked." I asked him, "so I paid $90 for a FOB that never worked?" He said, yes. Maybe there was a language barrier. I told him that if the FOB had "never worked" then I needed a refund. I had an electronic receipt and he refunded me in cash only the amount of the FOB. Not the tax. He told me he "didn't need to refund the tax." What? I informed him that he did, indeed, need to refund the tax. As I was leaving, one of the younger guys tried to get me to buy one of the car gadgets they have for sale at the front of the shop. This place is a joke. Go elsewhere. read more

I gotta say that this is probably the best service anyone can get. I accidentally broke my main key fob and my cars anti theft alarm activated causing it not to turn over, i took it to the dealership but they didn't want to preform the service since the cars aftermarket tuner "blocked" their software. I called AM PM and i told them about my issue and they were quick to help me out that same hour, they sent me a mobile technician named Javid and he preformed the job quick and didn't waste any time whatsoever. This company was contacted late in the day for a same day appointment. They provided me with a time of arrival, and when it was a little past the arrival window, I called and they told me exactly when they would arrive - which was within 15 minutes. Two people came, replaced/rekeyed 5 locks and were diligent in making sure all of them worked perfect. One door was not functioning well to begin with, but they persevered to get it done. They were polite, efficient, and a great way to end an otherwise stressful day. I had waited all day for a previous key company who never showed up, never called and actually lied to me three times, so my patience was thin when I contacted AM PM Locksmith. I would highly recommend this company and was so pleased that they exceeded my expectations 100%. The price was fine, although I cannot say if it was high or low since none of the other companies would give me so much as an estimate until they saw the job. This is in response to the owner's response: He stated he arrived to "the backside of the house";there is no backside to my house. In addition, that my car had been "sitting for years" which effected the quote- I stated that my car was no-op for years and I could not find the keys, I just needed a key to move to storage, not to drive, needed a key to turn the ignition- not actually start the car (which would mean I needed new battery, etc.) he was well informed of my mustangs condition prior to arrival. Original review: Total scam- I called at 5:35PM for a quote to replace the key to my mustang; I'm quoted $185. Then the price goes up to $220 because my key "has a chip" (didn't they know that when I first gave my car info?). The guy calls me at 6:02PM and says he is outside. I go outside, he is not even on my street, but continues stating he is in front of my house. I'm like "no, I'm standing in my driveway, I can see down my street". He gets here, gets all of my car info, and then the price is suddenly $310. Wtf? I said- "no, I'll call someone else". He said I need 2 keys to program my car, and it will cost an extra $80 for the additional key- again, why did they not know this before coming to my house? So anyways the guy tells me $300, instead of $310. I said "no" then he said $280 and that it is more expensive because it is "after hours"... what? I called less than 30 minutes ago. How would I know that by the time you get here, it will suddenly be "after hour" and more expensive? Why was the additional "after hours" cost be included when I called "after hours". Then he told me I'm "wasting his time"- I'm like I need a key to my car, you quoted me $185, then ask me for $310 when you are here? Such a convenient location for me! I was able to walk right in without an appointment and get two keys and fobs for my 2010 Prius in only 25 minutes. I also got a discount for getting two, so everything worked out great. The Concord site was GREAT! Got everything I needed quick and with a discount. I would say, even if you can't get them on the phone, just head down to the Concord location. This next part is not about the concord location, but why I would not go to the San Ramon. I did try and call ahead to check if they could fit me in, because I always like being prepared, but found the online phone numbers lead to the San Ramon Store. I would have been fine if they had transferred me, but instead I was told to just go to San Ramon because they would be so much faster than Concord, even after I told them I lived in WC (it is hard for me to believe a place 5 minutes from my house will be slower than driving to San Ramon).
