After months of researching solar installation companies, we made the decision to go with, who seemed to be, the best rated company on the Central Coast, A.M. Sun Solar. In December of 2024, A. M. Solar installed a new roof and solar panels on our home in Paso Robles. A.M. Sun Solar rep, Sonny, was knowledgeable and informative, describing not only the product(s) but the installation process. The installation was professional and efficient. At the end of work each day and at the completion of the project, the areas around our home were thoroughly cleaned up. Communication from the office and crew was excellent. We were updated daily by the friendly crew chief, Sal. We were quite impressed and satisfied with the process, beginning to end. Then, ten (10) months after the installation, we placed our home on the market. During the home inspection process, the inspector noted that the roof did not appear to be as new as we knew it to be. He provided photos to support his findings. After a series of communications with A.M. Sun Solar attempting to find the cause of the issue, we were told the Certainteed shingles were defective. By this time, we were in the process of negotiations with a buyer, within a month of closing. The options to correct the issue were to wait for Certainteed to financially compensate for the shingles, which A.M. Sun Solar told us would most likely not happen. And, if they did, we or the buyers would be paying to have the solar panels and roof removed and both reinstalled. If the new buyers purchased the home with the roof 'as is', they would be purchasing a roof which was not what was stated. Meantime, we had paid a total of $48k for the roof and the solar panels. The other option, to keep the home sale moving forward, the buyers requested compensation from us for 1/3 of the cost of the roof, approximately $6600 given they were not receiving what was advertised. We did credit the buyers with that amount. We requested that compensation from A.M. Sun Solar as we had paid for something we did not receive and were told, since the shingles were defective and not their work, they would not compensate us. Through no fault of our own, we found ourselves in a situation where we paid full price for a roof we did not receive and then lost another 1/3 of that cost compensating the buyers for the issue. Given the extremely positive interactions we had with A. M. Sun Solar we are quite disappointed in this outcome and will be seeking compensation through other means. read more

The company was negligent to let us know pigeons can roost up in the Spanish tile and cause a pest problem. Never even mentioned it during sale or install. Now we have a pest control bill in the high thousands that offset the whole reason why we went solar. All A.m solar did was try to pacify the situation and basically washed their hands of it. I had 6 panels installed. The reps were so nice. They answered all my questions, with no hype or pushy sales techniques. I get email notices that help me to see the days when there have been particularly high Solar collection. The panels are on the South facing roof so that is optimal. Sales guy responded quickly but sent us to someone else who scheduled an appointment to come to our home and then called 10 minutes after the appointment to say she was too busy and overbooked. She rescheduled for today and didn't show, didn't answer her phone when we called, and has not reached out to us since then. We recognize every solar company is busy given the upcoming change to NEM 3.0, but most are requesting basic information and providing quotes before site visits and actually showing up when scheduled. When I first started looking for solar I spoke to several companies and AM Sun Solar was by far the most professional and the most communicative solar company out there. We had some concerns about the exact style and type of mounting we would want (ground mounted & away from the house view) & not only were they accommodating they drew out on a map and then staked out the location and moved it 5 feet per our request no questions asked!!! Every time they came to work they would politely knock on the door and if we were not home they would leave a note with what they did that day and of course they kept everything very tidy and cleaned up after themselves every single day! We had an issue that could happen to any company where we were having trouble getting them on a train to work and they stayed very communicative again in getting the problem resolved not only that we had an inverter unexpectedly go out after a month and they got all over it had a new one air shipped in and brought it up installed it that day and arrive to their warehouse not to mention again leaving a know about what they did and how sorry they were that this had happened. Interestingly, using my experience as an example, the weakest part of this company compared to the others was in the sales department. The sales staff call themselves "energy consultants" which I felt was a stretch since the other companies did a much better job with the initial consultation. Besides that fact, I have no regrets going with this local company because I strongly feel they will address any future concerns or issues. They clearly guided me through every step during the installation, even when there were some issues during the final inspection. I also appreciated the quick response by one of the owners to my questions and concerns and treated those concerns with upmost efficiency. Why go with A.M. Sun Solar? I contracted with A.M. Sun Solar to install two Tesla wall batteries on June 18, 2020 through the PG&E SGIP program. They were given a deposit to navigate through the PG&E program and I was approved in November of 2020 after having to resubmit documentation I had already provided. Due to battery shortages from Tesla the process was delayed for over a year. It has now been 27 months (September 21, 2022) and I have had to apply for three extensions with PG&E and A.M. Sun Solar now says they are backlogged and do not have enough help to install the batteries. They cannot give me a date for installation and they have not once reached out to me to update or give me any information. I believe this to be terribly unacceptable and consider them very unprofessional. I would highly discourage using this company. read more

DO NOT give them your phone number. I was genuinely interested but had just had spinal surgery. I explained this to 3 different people the first day. I had "won" fair tickets but no wristbands,( I didn't need them and gave them away) Meanwhile, no matter what I said, they kept calling. I had set up an appt with one of the ladies a few weeks down the road.She said she would make sure the calls would stop. They havent. Today they texted me, then called to apologize for texting. We spoke with 3 different companies and decided on AM Sun Solar partly because they didn't flinch at a ground mount install plus we discovered we had friends who had worked with them and liked them very much. Blake and Damon were our installers and they were awesome. They really knew what they were doing and didn't let anything ruffle their feathers. They worked very hard digging holes and trenches in the 100° heat and never once complained. We had a very large tree limb fall right in the middle of where they were planning to trench and they didn't miss a beat. Blake said not to worry about it they'd just cut it up and move it out of the way. Even when I told them we might have tree trimmers working around them they were fine, no problem.
