Solarponics prepared the contract to install a 50 amp outlet, including a level 2 EV charger. They provided a Wallbox charger that's programmable to limit car charging to only the off-peak hours automatically. The contract price included everything needed, including the county building permit. Although they installed my 240 volt outlet adjacent to my electrical panel as I preferred, I learned that it would have been the same price for a very long wiring run which would make it an even better value because it affords the flexibility of locating the outlet at the most convenient location for anyone. Their installation team was very friendly and did the job professionally. My project manager also applied for the 3CE rebates on my behalf, and that brought the total cost down to $250. In checking up on the status of my rebate applications, the 3CE agent confirmed that their funding for rebates is unaffected by the current federal government's pulling back of existing approved and funded programs, as well as closure of offices and various government services that provide support. We singed and got install in late December. Everything was going to plan until they said we needed a bigger panel. That would cost us an extra 7k. It's bs as they could have told us that from the very beginning. We had ZERO options to pull out of the agreement and had to pay more money. Install was December but we didn't go live until April. Why because contractors didn't have patience to wait 10 mins for someone to show up pushing it back weeks. Then waiting for a new sub panel, contractor, install, permits, money, time and energy. Fast forward to May, we got a contract to go up on our roof to white us for critter proofing and he noticed a few broken tiles which are clearly shown in some of the installed final photos. Some photos it's clearly someone covering a broken tile so it doesn't show on photo. They had the nerve to say by looking at a photo it's a new crack when no one has ever been on the roof and in hone inspection no tiles were cracked. This company just wants your money no matter what. I would never recommend this company. Matter of fact look into sun run or anyone else. Solorponics has screwed us over and over. read more

There is no question I would recommend Solarponics. From the first call with Todd to appointments made with JJ, it all went so smoothly. We needed a new roof and in fact our amazing roofers, Coastal Roofing, recommended Solarponics. They have an excellent reputation and stick to their estimate. They had to come out a second time to fix something (I don't remember what but it was an issue with our house build in 1961) and they did it quickly. Several years ago Solarponics installed a 240V outlet for my Porsche EV. The Porsche charger was used which turned out to be so defective that Porsche has now recalled the charger in the U.S. because so many installers in the U.S. use components which overheat -- actually melt -- due to some design decisions the Porsche engineers unfortunately made. However that is not the case for the work Solarponics did. No overheating and, of course, no melting of outlets. Our Cal Poly faculty condo development has 3 different buildings with 3 different roof structures. We sought out 3 vendors to see if it was even feasible to have solar panels on shared/HOA owned rooftops for the 3 building types in January 2023 with just months to go before NEM 2.0 grandfathered date of 4/15/23. Solarponics was 1 of 2 vendors willing to provide this feasibility study of 3 different designs showing equitable allocation of solar roof space knowing full well that there were 3 entities to contend with - Cal Poly Corporation that owns the ground sublease, HOA and external community property manager The Management Trust. These 2 vendors had Cal Poly affiliations as other vendors shied away from this challenge. We purchased a solar system from Solarponics. After 3 years The system was not communicating with the solar edge monitor. Solarponics came out to find the problem. It turned out to be a defective part. They replaced the defective part under warranty. Yesterday I received an invoice for $150 for a service call. I do not understand why I am being charged $150 when the reason Solarponics came to our house was due to a defective part. Not only that but I received the invoice yesterday and today it said late. It makes sense that the manufacturer would pay for the defective part. The service call was due to the defective part. There wouldn't be a service call if there wasn't a defective part. I should not have to Pay anything for a service call for a defective part. I am totally disappointed with Solarponics and will not recommend them to anyone read more

I had hoped to go solar using local folks. Sadly, I didn't even get past the bid phase before they made at least one serious omission: they provided a proposal complete with financing and final numbers WITHOUT including a major component that would raise the price of the system another third. No WONDER that first bid looked so much lower than the competing companies'. Fortunately, after sending an e-mail to the owner about the sales person (who also wasn't knowledgeable about battery products) I was included (inadvertently) in the e-mail loop between the staff. Without having ever talked to me, one of them decided to refer to me in disrespectful terms that made me wonder how far up/down the chain such customer treatment goes. If they can't get the details right on the proposal, how do I know they'll get the job done correctly? If they can't speak to/about a customer without casting aspersions on a person they've never even met, how do I know they'll respect our property/project? Nope: first impressions last. read more

Choose Solarponics... You won't be disappointed! We had one home battery (Powerwall 2) and had an opportunity to add a second battery at a partially reduced cost due to a PG&E rebate and Federal incentives. Due to the rebate, we had a somewhat tight timeframe and needed to work with a company that knew what they were doing and would stay on top of everything throughout the whole process. I reached out to two companies and it quickly became apparent that Solarponics was the place I needed to work with. They got the process started right away, they answered every question I had quickly (and patiently if I needed a little clarification on anything), and they did everything they said they would, *when* they said they would do it. There were no delays and no excuses. On the couple of things that are outside of their control (city inspection and PG&E "permission to opperate") they gave me clear expectations and communicated with me quickly when they received confirmation or when anything changed. My main point of contact was Dominick (amazing!), but everyone I interacted with throughout the whole process was terrific. Troy answered some questions up front and took care of the plan set. Installers (Fabian & Adrian for the main install, Jeremy for a small follow up) were polite and professional, making sure we were in agreement on the plan *before* starting, and answering questions as needed. Caleb provided great support with understanding some nuances of the Tesla app and gave me some insightful recommendations on how to get the most out of our battery backup system. And shout out to the office staff who helped along the way (Annie, McKenzie) who got me documents and answers fast. I know there were a few other people who helped along the way (sorry to leave out a few names)... everyone was professional, polite, and just plain helpful. The project was done ahead of schedule (even with my tight timeframe) and met or exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. While I can't promise you that they never have a project that has some "hiccups" along the way, mine was smoother than I could have ever expected, and done by a team that is motivated to do things right. Done! Massive success! And gorgeous! In addition to our house, we have 2 vacation rentals on the property. So we're talking 3 fridges, 3 microwaves, 3 sets of w/d, 2 a/c units, four 50" flat screens, plus I drive an EV and my husband drives a plug-in hybrid. Etc, etc! And our well uses a huge amount of electricity. We have 3 separate meters and 3 separate monthly bills. We were able to aggregate them together, which means that while the solar array is attached to only one meter, all of the meters' numbers are factored together. I just did the math and our average monthly bill from Jan to Aug was $526 (3 meters combined). I just paid off my energy bill for September: $54 total for all 3 meters! Woo hoo! This more than justifies the monthly payments we'll be making on our equity line of credit. I am SO glad I chose Solarponics. Choosing a solar company is a big decision with a massive amount of my hard-earned clams on the line. I literally spent about 4 years deciding on a company. And believe me, I made them work for the money! This year was the 3rd time I asked them to come out for a quote. The anecdotes that people share about their solar installations with other companies ranges from awesome to (very often) worst-nightmare-of-all-time. I would recommend Solarponics to anyone looking into Solar. I had heard great things about them, but I had also heard that with so many people wanting solar right now, things were moving slowly with all companies. That was not my experience at all. We needed a new roof and none of the reputable companies were taking new clients this year. Solarponics were able to get us on the books with a great roofing company. As soon as the roof was up, the panels were on. I think start to finish, the whole process was about 2.5 months. They kept us on track and were really great about communicating when they needed us to do something. Also, we didn't pass final inspection. Not due to anything they did, but due to an issue with something when our house was built. They came out and fixed it, so that we could pass. They didn't have to do it, they already had our money. They could have just said, "your problem, call us when you fix it and we'll hook you up", but they didn't. All in all, we couldn't be happier that we went with Solarponics. read more

Last summer, I spoke extensively with Solarponics' Todd Burnett, who convinced me that a Tesla Powerwall battery backup to my solar array was a good idea. With time, Todd told me that Tesla was no longer making batteries for anyone who didn't also buy a solar array from Solar City. He then told me that he recommended LG batteries instead because he "could get them right away". My contract is dated August 16, 2021. There are no batteries. There is no completion date. Every time I call someone at Solarponics, I get the old soft shoe! Today, after not getting the most recent promised call back from weeks ago, I read Todd Burnett the riot act: the completion date of this project is now July 31st and, if the job is not completed, my attorney is being called in. Don't get me wrong: 12 years ago. Solarponics did a fine job installing my original 18KW solar array and a solar hot water system. But I have no idea where my $31,625 for THIS project went. If you do a job with Solarponics, don't accept a contract without a guaranteed completion date! read more

What a great company! Each time I've dealt with them, they've been honest, done an excellent job and have been flexible with scheduling. They clearly take pride in their work and leaving the area "cleaner than before." With so many new solar companies springing up, Solarponics is one of the few that has proven itself with decades of quality work and happy customers. I first called them, because they were the ones that originally installed my solar hot water system in the 1980s. After more than 30 years, the hot water storage tank was finally starting to leak. They could have made a lot of money by trying to sell me a new one. Instead, they told me that it was an outdated technology, and I'd be better off removing the tank and disconnecting it. They never pressured me to put in an expensive new system to replace it. They disconnected and removed the old, leaking tank, and then hauled it up several flights of stairs with no damage at all. By the time they left, you never would have known it had been there. The second time, my water heater was leaking, and I was without hot water. They rearranged their busy schedule and installed one the next day. Once again, they did a great job. I got better water heater installed by professionals for the same price as one at Home Depot. Both times, Service Manager Ryan Montague was incredible to work with and Deana del Sol went out of her way to work with me on scheduling. When we replace our flat roof and go solar, we're definitely going to go with them. They've been around so long, because they're that good. read more

Just a quick update to my review. The service to our underfloor radiant heating boiler/system involved a training component for Shane. Although they checked the system before leaving, and it appeared to be working properly, unfortunately, the next day after the service visit, we did experience an error message from the boiler and did have to have an emergency follow-up visit from Ryan. He was able to identify the problem immediately and fix it. I believe ultimately it was a "teachable moment" for both trainer and trainee! A couple days later, Ryan and Justin (our original installation team) both came out to follow-up on an additional feature of the boiler that came to light as a result of so much attention to it over the previous few days. For us, the error message situation was a little scary but, again the immediate responsiveness of Ryan and follow-up of the office staff and Justin is what we expect and appreciate about this super professional business! Many years ago I had solar panels installed by Solarponics, then a few years ago I added a Tesla battery backup system. Both installations were professional and I was extremely satisfied. PG&E offered a rebate on the battery but PG&E was very slow and difficult to work with to get the rebate. In the meantime I sold the home and it was nearly impossible communicating with PG&E. The reps at Solarponics assisted me in contacting PG&E and with facilitating my rebate and finally, nearly 3 years later, I received a sizable rebate from PG&E. Solarponics could have just washed their hands of it, but they didn't. Their customer service went way beyond my expectations and I highly recommend them to anyone! read more
