The price he quoted me was 1/3rd of the amount quoted by a recognized accounting firm. Mr. Sherman's office completed my aunt's final tax return, calculated and mailed out all 24 1099 forms for the beneficiaries and provided copies of everything to me. He provided an audit representation guarantee that I did not need - but was good to have as an assurance. I do my own taxes using tax software, but will definitely go to Mr. Sherman when I no longer can figure it out myself - and I am reaching that point! He has competent associates in his employ and I have no complaints.

Unfortunately, that trust has been lost due to the lack of communication, professionalism, and transparency we have experienced. After our taxes were prepared, we discovered there was a significant difference between the refund amount we were originally told and what was reflected by the IRS. We immediately reached out multiple times by phone and text asking for an explanation and simply requesting communication. We were not asking for anything unreasonable we just wanted answers and an understanding of what happened. Despite multiple attempts to contact her, we still have not received any direct communication, phone call, or explanation. We were later informed through an email that our tax return had been amended, but we were never given a clear explanation of what was changed, why it was changed, or any opportunity to discuss the situation beforehand. This has been extremely disappointing and stressful. When you trust someone with something as important as your taxes, you expect honesty, professionalism, and communication. Unfortunately, that is not the experience we have had. We made every effort to resolve this privately and gave multiple opportunities for communication. We simply wanted answers and transparency, but we continue to be left without an explanation. Future clients deserve a tax professional who values communication, keeps clients informed, and takes their concerns seriously. Based on our experience, we would not recommend using this tax preparer. I truly hope this review encourages her to communication so we can finally resolve this matter. We never wanted it to get to this point. A simple courtesy call or honest explanation could have prevented a lot of frustration. We recently discovered that they never filed our returns from two years ago, despite being paid to do so. I only found out after contacting the IRS to resolve an issue with being charged hundreds of dollars in penalties and interest all due to Taxperts. Because of Taxperts failure to file our return, we were assessed IRS penalties and interest that we should never have had to pay. Melissa repeatedly promised to reimburse us for those penalties and interest but never followed through. After months of excuses and broken promises, we have received nothing. The IRS provides IRS Form 14157 specifically for reporting tax return preparer misconduct, and we have been forced to pursue that process. This is classified as crimal behavior. Based on our experience, I would never trust this company with my tax returns or my personal financial information. If they failed to file our return without our knowledge, it raises serious concerns about their professionalism, accountability, and the handling of sensitive client information. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this company to think twice before giving them access to your financial records.

I never once used the words "rush", "expedite" or "hurry" and since I still had a full week before the tax deadline, there was absolutely no need for me to have made such a request. Another issue is the lack of communication. My mom had reached out and asked for assistance with some tax forms. After weeks of silence, I also reached out with a text, email and even voicemail...all were ignored. After months with no response, Melissa finally replied that she had been ill but was feeling better. I then repeated my mom's request for help and was again ignored. Never heard back from her. Who needs that kind of treatment, especially after being loyal clients for 6 years?

I got disconnected twice during my first two phone calls, without a call back…read more Back each time to calling a receptionist, she casually admitted a problem with their phones??? Then finally I became a customer, but they wouldn't let me speak to an actual tax person to see if I was a "fit" until I paid them $240.00 deposit. I felt "wow, this must be a professional outfit, or a scam job". Then John called and was fine on the phone and we got my calculation figured out for a RMD distribution amount that I needed to withdraw from my Fidelity account. I was in their chat system by this point which seemed like a better communication style and their preferred method, which REQUIRES that you enter a PORTAL, which was fine, so long as they actually got the job done. Next, I asked what my balance was to see if my $240.00 was all spent from this one transaction or not, and to start to get my tax stuff together for him. I literally NEVER heard back from them. Also, and to conclude, John said during our initial conversation that doing an MLP stock tax form would not be a problem. Long story short, I never heard back about my balance, and I guess making that first calculation done spent the entire deposit (but don't expect a receipt or invoice showing anything from them). So I went to TurboTax for my taxes and paid an extra 50 bucks for "Expert Assist" and got my entire taxes done with extreme competence and the tax person was awesome. I am sure that Jacks would have charged me many times what TurboTax charged me, and I was just completely left with a bad taste in my mouth from the whole experience. I have no idea if my $240.00 was all spent with one calculation or not, and I'm sure I will never find out, but my TurboTax bill for doing all of my taxes, along with calculating a very complicated K-1 form and 1099s was less than $240.00 My experience was totally "jacked up". He knows nothing about customer service. I won't ever go back to him again.
