WOULD NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANY BRIDE! Scheduling an appointment for my wedding was quite the challenge and took nearly a month - I should have known at that point that this was not the place for me! It was so convenient to our hotel, though and I thought convenience was going to be important for my morning wedding. I booked a trial with Curtis more than a month before my wedding and then they called less than an hour before my appointment and asked if they could reschedule because he wasn't going to be in. Since I was on my way out the door when they called, I was a bit frustrated, but went ahead and rescheduled anyways. I went to my rescheduled appointment with Curtis and he did a great job - it took more than 2 hours, but we found something I loved! 2 weeks before my wedding and I asked my fiancé to drop something off for me at the salon, which he did. Well, the next day I get a phone call telling me that Curtis is away for personal reasons and they don't know if he'll be back to do my hair for my wedding (come to find out at my appointment that he quit weeks before), but they could reschedule me with another stylist to do another trial and I agreed that I could do that. . .well, I was there for 2 hours and the girl was really nice, but when I described exactly how Curtis had curled and styled my hair she must have had earplugs in because she made me look like a poodle bride from the 80s! It looked nothing like what had been done before and it didn't look like any effort had been made. She also used so much hairspray that my throat was hurting when I got home. When I got home, my fiancé could tell right away that she had made it way too curly and that it just wasn't even close to what had been done earlier. When I left the salon that night I wasn't happy at all and they said they had one other stylist who does weddings and they would call me to schedule something with her - well it's 3 days later and still no phone call! MY ADVICE: IF YOU'RE LOOKING TO HAVE YOUR HAIR DONE FOR YOUR WEDDING, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! I NOW HAVE TO DO MY OWN HAIR FOR MY WEDDING BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE TIME OR MONEY TO KEEP TRYING OUT NEW STYLISTS. Did I mention my wedding is in a week? First of all, this review is LONG overdue. I was introduced to Amaci Salon after receiving a Groupon as a gift. I initially just went in to have a quick trim, by I ended up having my hair completely restyled, colored, as well as beautiful highlights that really accentuated the gorgeous color that my stylist helped me select. From the moment I walked in on my first visit ever, I was made to feel so welcomed by the staff at the front desk. I was slightly intimidated, and also a little nervous with a new salon, but Amaci's staff was overly friendly & accommodating. My coat and scarf were taken and hung up for me, and I was served with a beverage until I was ready to have my hair wahed and shampooed. I then received a gorgeous haircut from Amad, who was absolutely wonderful. Amaci has been my go to salon ever since. From cuts, coloring, foils, eyebrow threading & waxing, I received top notch service from Amad & his wonderful staff. I was extremely surprised by their pricing. For a full service salon located in the Back Bay, I always leave completly satisfied without the cost of other salons in and around the Back Bay/Newbury Street area. I was so happy with the way my hair came out with Amad, that I talked my son into getting his haircut as well... he hasn't been back to his barber since! Everyone speaks and understand English but they will speak other languages on top of you 9. The owner complains about working , his wife , his employees , anything to make you feel sympathy 10. Paying money to be his therapist 11. Products suck 12. I got a rash on my neck from the sinks 13. Go to rosemary or Michelle 14. Better yet don't go at all 15. Everything from the robes capes towels are dirty stained smelly and in-between clients just thrown in the dryer. 16. Dusty 17. Hair all over the floor but no clients in the salon 18. Your paying high prices for products the owner gets at a local Sally's beauty supply 19. The coffee don't get coffee it will take 30 mins since they're kuerig is broken and splashes coffee everywhere instead of in the cup 20. Lipstick on my water cup 21. Haircut was no good 22. Finding the right hair salon in a new city usually takes a series of traumatic trial and error. I researched, read reviews, and decided my first trial would be Amaci. I recently transitioned to natural hair --- No more hiding my natural beauty under relaxers, extensions, and color. The hairstylist, Aretha, explained my options so I could understand because I have no idea about hair lingo. In the end, I was so impressed. I never knew my hair could be so straight without a relaxer. I had a very trendy, modern, yet professional style I could wear to work. I loved it times a thousand. I felt so glamorous. I should have been on a magazine. That never happens leaving the salon. Usually, no matter what you tell a stylist you still end up with the same, boring, grandma-church-lady look that you have to go home and fix yourself. I was ready for a night on the town with this hair. Everyone loved it as much as me. Only issue was parking was pricy (but they validate) and so is the shop (I spent $350). But they know how to make black hair beautiful and healthy in a nice, comfortable environment. And realistically, I would have ended up spending that much after getting a relaxer every six weeks anyway or trying to fix the botch job other salons did to me. I'm so glad I found the right salon on the first try. I'm looking forward to my next appointment. read more

Amaci salon is the best. I recently moved to Boston from NYC. I tried a lot of the top salons in NYC, and they are nothing in comparison to Amaci. I went in to see Amad (the owner of Amaci) for highlights. I was so happy with the color that I wanted a cut (despite it being around closing time). He stayed late to give me a great cut/blow dry/flat iron. I am absolutely amazed with the results, I have never been so happy. I can't stop singing his praises. He is an artist, and a master of his craft. But most importantly, in midst of running a very successful salon, he has not lost sight of what's important. For one, he has a great and genuine energy/vibe to him, and he is a person you will enjoy spending an hour or two with. Secondly, he makes you feel like you are the only client in his salon. His number one priority was making me happy. He does not rush you, and he puts in that extra effort to make sure that you are 100% satisfied and comfortable with your experience at his salon. Also to note...another stylist named Curtis was working while I was there. His clients walked out looking amazing too. Book an appointment at Amad, and I promise you that you will come out looking and feeling like a million bucks. read more

I can't say enough things about this Salon. I had great amount of trouble finding a good hairdresser in Boston. I tried both high and low profile places ranging from local hairdressers in Brookline and high end Newbury street salons. when I realized that I had enough of all that bs, trusted the huge amount of yelpers for this salons, and the result: extreme success, definitely found my hairdresser and never going anywhere else. going into the details; I was greeted by a friendly (friendly, not fake like one of those high end salons) host and invited to wait couple minutes and Amaid came to greet me shortly. First, we had a quick talk about the processes I did to my hair and style I used, then we decided to make it healthy. It's my style to leave it basically up to hairdresser to decide on the length, since I want to see if they can judge which style looks best on me, and Amaid took an amazing shot on that. I washed my hair first time today after that haircut and it even looks more amazing. This Salon also has eyebrow threading, If you have never gotten your eyebrows threaded... First and foremost, I have been getting brazilians for years, but this by far was the WORST and most painful one I have had. Ana was quick, but not gentle at all and I was very uncomfortable but she just kept going. It was really painful because she did not press down before removing the strip. I am very comfortable getting brazilians and I usually have no pain, but this was an absolute torture. If this were my first time getting a brazilian, I would choose to never get it again. Second, I had been to the salon once over 2 years ago. Recently I found a groupon for 2 brazilians so I purchased it. I called and made an appt, gave my name and phone number, but they mentioned nothing about the groupon being for first time comers (they should have known I had been there based on my phone number). After I walk across town, check in and go to their waxing space, she asks if I had been there, and I told her I came once in 2017. Lady refuses to accept my groupon and charges me full price of a terrible brazilian. I normally go to European Wax Center which has amazing service that is actually worth the 60 dollars (no pain, they take their time). 60 dollars for 5 mins of torture!!! are you kidding me? read more

I came to Amaci for the first time a month or so ago. My only regret is that I didn't start coming here sooner. Amad gave me the best haircut I've had in a long, long time ... maybe ever. Suffice it to say that my days of going to Supercuts and subpar hair salons are over. If you care at all about your appearance (which most of us do, let's face it, and hair is an important part of that), it really is worth it to pay a few extra bucks for a good haircut. The difference is amazing versus the haircuts I was getting before, and a number of people have commented to that effect on my haircut. That's not to say this place is expensive, because it's really pretty reasonable for a prime-location, quality hair salon in Back Bay. All I'm saying is you get what you pay for, so if you choose to get your hair cut on the cheap (i.e. $15 at Supercuts), the price will probably be reflected in the result. Back to Amaci, the level of service is amazing too. Everyone treats you like a highly valued customer, from the hostess/receptionist to the woman who washed my hair and gave me a scalp massage (which I loved, btw:), to Amad himself. I just wanted to take the time to reach out here because I believe in giving credit when credit is deserved. I know there is a lot of salons and hairdressers in Boston are a dime of dozen, that's why it's important I commend one that I just recently had an appointment with. I had an appointment with Jaclyn who made me feel like I was at home and extremely comfortable like I was her friend the second I walked in the door. She greeted me with a huge smile and took a good amount of time speaking to me about what I wanted to do with my hair and the goals I wanted to achieve with my hair for the future. As the appointment went on, she guided me and told me what she was doing, never made me feel nervous or anxious of how it was going to look. She gave me a full foil, cut and glaze. My hair couldn't have come out more perfect, she gave me what I have been wanting to do to my hair but no hair dresser could achieve it- but she did!!!!! It was perfect!!!!! I recommend everyone to go see Jaclyn for not only to have the best hair but for how comfortable and important she makes you feel! I was long over due for a hair cut and I had been debating chopping my hair off short like i usual do every other year; however I wasn't 100% ready to commit to such a drastic change just yet. Instead I decided that I wanted to get a nice cut to clean up the end and add some layers. Additionally I had been thinking about adding some color to the ends, like some sort of ombre. I had never colored my hair before so I was a little nervous but Jaclyn put my mind at ease. When I arrived at the salon Jaclyn sat me down in the chair and asked what I was thinking of doing and I showed her a couple of pictures. She told me that she thought that a balayage might look nice on my hair and that she wouldn't need bleach which was very exciting news to me! She seemed very knowledgable and confident which put my mind at ease. At the end of the day my hair came out amazing! I absolutely loved the color and the cut was just what I wanted. I have gotten so many compliments and I am more than satisfied with how it came out. I love this place! Every single time I go there, I get the best hair cut of my life. To become an expert in anything takes a lot of hardwork and skill. The employees at Amaci know their stuff. They understand hair as if it were a human being: they know what it needs to be fed, how it needs to be cared for, and how to keep its health up. You can tell that each and every one of them is knowledgable in hair care. However, not only do they know they're stuff, they care about the work they do. Your hair is their masterpiece, its their work of art, and its something they take pride in. When I went in earlier this year, I hadn't gotten my hair redone in a while. After my appointment was done, my hair dresser booked an appointment for me to come back in because he didn't all of his hard work to go to waste. Overall, I was impressed with everything: the expertise, the skill, the talent, and the pride taken in their execution. I moved to Boston from New York around a year ago, and have been very reluctant to find a stylist to cut my long hair for fear of them being too scissor-happy (which has happened to me in the past). But I was way too overdue for a trim, and decided to go to Amaci, a salon I have passed walking by many times. I always thought it looked chic and clean inside, plus they are always busy. So when it was time for a cut, I decided to give it a try. My stylist was Jaclyn, and her friendly and bubbly disposition immediately put me at ease. I have always had long hair and get anxious when I know I'm due for a trim, but Jaclyn made me feel so comfortable. She consulted with me in detail about what I wanted, and suggested some long layers to give my hair movement, all while promising I would still have my length. I am so thrilled with my new style. Jaclyn was so knowledgeable and gave me a lot of tips of how to care for my hair and attain that "salon" style at home. I decided it was time to try a new salon, something close to where I work in Back Bay and stumbled upon Amaci Salon - I am so glad I did! (On a side note, after going to the same hairdresser in the North End for over 20+ years, I decided it was time to find somebody new after she decided to chop off all my hair, after I told her to cut 1 inch off, and gave me one of the worst dye jobs I've ever seen. Not to mention she had been very icy towards me the last several times I went there. Not good. It's been six months since I last went to her and she hasn't contacted me since - so much for loyalty!) Amad, the owner of Amaci, has a no-nonsense, straightforward approach. He was very welcoming and re-assured me that he knew which color would look best for me - He definitely delivered. My hair looked and felt completely different - Thick, full and glossy. Suddenly I am getting compliments on my hair all the time! His staff was also very courteous, friendly and accommodating. I'm new to the Boston area and was looking for a Redken salon to get my color refreshed and my hair cut. I had an appointment with Jaclyn and she did a wonderful job. I'm pretty controlling about my hair, but she understood my vision and executed it well. I'm a quiet/introverted client, so going to salons can be awkward and anxiety inducing for me, but Jaclyn was very personable and helped me to feel relaxed as we got to know each other. She even offered me some hot gingerbread tea that was a gift from her mom, so sweet! The salon was very clean and had a friendly atmosphere. The only cons I would give to this appointment were that it took longer than I expected to finish everything and I left with pretty flat straight ironed hair. I usually expect to leave with some healthy bounce and volume, so I had to fix it a little at home before I went out that evening. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with the cut and color, I've gotten lots of compliments, and it has been very easy to work with at home. I plan on returning next time I need a refresh while I am living in Boston. read more

At one point I was living 3 hours away but never hesitated to make the trip. She is a true artist when it comes to color and is always a pleasure to chat with. I see her faithfully every six weeks and have never been unhappy with the results... Sonia gives me a completely different look every time she colors my hair. I trust her so much in fact that i let her do whatever look she feels will look good at that time. She changes my look according to season and current styles. I am not a person who usually writes reviews but I always like to read what others think about a place. Usually I find that people are more likely to write a negative review rather than a positive one. I had such an amazing experience at this place that I felt the need to create an account just to write a review for Anna. I recently moved to Boston and I've been trying to find a place to get my eyebrows threaded. I couldn't find much information, so I randomly chose Amaci. I have been to many many different places and I have NEVER found anyone who is this good. Anna really takes her time with your eyebrows and they end up looking impeccable. They were honestly the perfect thickness and the shape was amazing. It's pricier than what I'm used to at $18 but since my eyebrows are important to me, it's definitely worth it. Anna's also really friendly and I've been there a few times now and each time, I walk out feeling great. I can't comment on the rest of the salon, but I would definitely recommend Anna without a doubt. read more

I have followed Jaclyn around from the Merrimack valley to Boston. Amaci is a beautiful, clean and fun salon. I could not be happier with the location or Jaclyn's work as a hair stylist. Not only is she the friendliest and most fun person ever, her skill level and professionalism is far beyond any stylist that has ever cut my hair. I had been getting my eyebrows waxed for years, but my skin started to become extremely sensitive and would burn every time. Needless to say I was sick of walking around with scabs under my eyebrows. I wanted to explore threading as an alternative so I took to Google. Surprisingly enough there are not many eyebrow threaders in Boston, according to Google. I found Amaci and gave it a shot. This was over a year ago and I continue to go back. Ana is AMAZING! My eyebrows are a bit coarse and she shapes them perfectly. Flawless every time! I get a number of compliments on how great they look and always credit Ana's amazing work. I live and work in Boston, but the salon location is not really convenient to either and I have no problem going out of my way for these services. They are also fabulously flexible with scheduling, which is perfect for my ever-changing schedule. All in all job well done! read more

My mom and I have been coming to Amaci for years!! Amad works magic when it comes to hair. We both have thick and heavy hair and have heard so many hair dressers complain about it! Amad has the skills and knows how to thin your hair out without chopping your hair off. We've always walked out feeling so much lighter and fresh!! I recently got balyage highlights for the first time and despite being nervous, Amad reassured me that I will love my hair by the end of it. I wasn't completely satisfied and told him, he acknowledged my concerns and stayed at the salon for an extra couple of hours to change it up... All this with a smile on. I didn't once feel guilty or burdensome and that is not common. He is patient and extremely client oriented! I am in love with my hair and highly recommend Amaci! PS.
