I just saw a 5 star review for the Naperville office which is not as close to me as the St. Charles office, nonetheless I would not hesitate to engage them the next time I need a home health aide. It was very difficult to even get these people to call me back after leaving my initial voice message. They were not quick to respond and when someone finally did they cut the call short with a promise to call right back which they did not do. I kept chasing them down since I really needed help and they sounded so good on the website. It took over a month to get 'care' started which I did not need as badly then as I did when I first called them. After a few weeks I had to cancel their service due to the 'care' giver failing to assist me into the car after a doctor visit which resulted in my falling on the ground. Fortunately no bones were broken but I was bruised and in pain for several days. A short time later I realized that a few pieces of expensive jewelry and some other items had gone missing! It would be impossible to say with 100% certainty that it was someone from Homewatch that took these these things but I am reasonably sure that it must have been one of them as they were the only outside people in my home during the time that the items disappeared. I strongly recommend that you avoid the St. Charles office of Homewatch Care Givers should you require home care services!

She had a caregiver 24/7 when she lived at home and the quality of care was really poor. The care that my mother in law is getting is exceptional! The caregivers make sure each resident is fed, hydrated, changed, bathed. We have never gone there to find my mother in law in any distress. The caregivers know when something is bothering each resident and are very well in tune to each one. The house she is in is immaculate. Her caregivers are very knowledgeable on geriatric care. If we knew about Halina's when my father in law had his stroke he would have been there!

From not changing, bathing, or moving my grandfather out of bed, my grandmother asking to get up and walk and them not helping her, and to the promise (it was a promise she told my family from day 1) that no one would get bed sores but my grandfather got one and said that "he came in with it", I feel that I was misled and let down from the care that I was told they were going to receive. Hearing my grandma say to me while people were touring the home, "I wish they knew what really happens, the truth" I felt a part of me being crushed. My grandfather has passed away and not a day passes by that I wish we never moved them into that "home".

There are over 400 types of dementia and Silverado trains their staff in a way to recognize and support these variances instead of training their team to ONLY manage the needs of those with Alzheimer's disease. This approach takes a lot of stress away from primary care givers and family members. Dementia often comes with personality changes and behavior changes that ultimately lead to family members seeking help. We witness the staff gently redirecting our loved one, treating her with dignity, recognizing and celebrating who she was before the disease and who she is now, stimulating her mentally, and generally providing compassionate and loving care. This has a lot to do with the current administration in place and how strong the Silverado St. Charles care team is. The facility is new, beautiful, all on one floor (makes us feel good in case of emergencies), and a calm and peaceful place. Leadership is responsive and communicative with families and they did a great job of explaining their positions and thought behind COVID19 changes to processes and procedures. We as family members felt part of the solution and part of defining what the new normal is for our loved one. My family and I highly recommend Silverado St. Charles if you are looking for a safe and caring community for your loved one where they are treated with respect and dignified.

My 92-year old mother moved into one of their assisted living studios in the fall of 2014. Up until that point, she had lived on her own, so clearly, she wasn't very enthusiastic about the move. She wasn't as engaged in some of the activities as we might have liked, but it wasn't for lack of the staff's teasing encouragement (which she enjoyed). When her health deteriorated a year or so later, she moved into the more intimate memory care wing in a studio almost identical to the one she'd had, where the staff could keep her under watchful eyes. Before long, a hospice crew became part of her care team. As prickly as my mother could be, she was loved by members of the staff. Several of her caregivers wept the day she died and for me, that said it all. Difficult as it was, we had made the right decision. One other thing worth mentioning: it's not a huge community, so if it's important for your loved one to be in a place where everyone knows everyone else, this is a good choice.

I interviewed many agencies and felt that Home Instead was the best fit for her. Since then she has had the same caregiver come every week. The caregiver is a lovely person who has really come to care about my mom. Earlier this year my mom fell while I was out of town. While I was still at the airport to fly home, I called Home Instead again about what her options could be. They responded right away and worked with me and my mom to get her the help she needed for the next couple of weeks until she got her strength back. I have only good things to say about Home Instead. They have gone the extra miles to make sure my mom is safe and happy and to help her keep the independence that is so important to her. They have been flexible and have adjusted to her needs and requests, and they really care about her. My mom wants to stay in her own home and maintain her own independence, and Home Instead has been an integral part of that.
