My 92-year old mother moved into one of their assisted living studios in the fall of 2014. Up until that point, she had lived on her own, so clearly, she wasn't very enthusiastic about the move. She wasn't as engaged in some of the activities as we might have liked, but it wasn't for lack of the staff's teasing encouragement (which she enjoyed). When her health deteriorated a year or so later, she moved into the more intimate memory care wing in a studio almost identical to the one she'd had, where the staff could keep her under watchful eyes. Before long, a hospice crew became part of her care team. As prickly as my mother could be, she was loved by members of the staff. Several of her caregivers wept the day she died and for me, that said it all. Difficult as it was, we had made the right decision. One other thing worth mentioning: it's not a huge community, so if it's important for your loved one to be in a place where everyone knows everyone else, this is a good choice.

Staff is super attentive since its a smaller facility, there's someone always easily findable. Made small talk with a really kind employee, it's just all good there! This is top of the line when it comes to elder communities/memory care facilities. Bartlett is a beautiful and safe town with a lot to do! They recently just remodeled it so it looks really nice inside and always is super clean. My dad has lived there five months now ( in 2021) this was one of the best decisions for our family. In early Feb 2019, I was suddenly facing the fact that we need to move a loved one from Texas to Illinois; who was showing advancing signs of memory loss/dementia. Dennis, 72 years old, needed to be in a safe place to live, with doctors and caregivers to watch over him and see that he took his prescribed medicines and was provided 3 good meals every day, which he was no longer able to do on his own. The caregivers at Arden Courts are kind, compassionate and so very patient with these residents who have been diagnosed with this insidious and sad disease. At Arden Courts it really is possible for a person with a diagnosis of dementia to have a good quality of life. Arden Courts lives up to the promises in their brochure by providing structured, daily activities allowing their residents to socialize and interact with other residents and staff, adding to their quality of daily life. The entire staff, especially Pam, Justine and Nurse Nina have given our family total piece of mind 24/7. Their monthly support group offers a wonderful opportunity for family members and caregivers to know that they are not alone in navigating this journey with their loved ones. She didn't want to be bothered but they made sure she ate and took her medications. One night when I was on the phone with her they knocked on her door to see if she wanted dessert. Very sweet! My son liked to visit and see the birds and fish. I wish they would've showed her how to administer her insulin injections before we left. She didn't know how. She said they always just did it for her. I also felt very rushed with the discharge, due to insurance.

The memory care unit is self-contained, consisting of a living room atmosphere surrounded by private bed/bath rooms. The resident does not need to navigate hallways or elevators. Everyday they have activities to exercise the mind and/or body. The staff turnover is low which is a plus. The nursing staff is one of the best, not just for the resident, but also for helping us manage expectations. We went from a one-star arrangement to ta 5-star arrangement at a lower cost and highly recommend River Glen.

I felt at home within the first week of our move. My husband took a little longer, but has made the adjustment. Everyone, staff and neighbors, have been very friendly and have made this transition a good one. There are plenty of activities available and our own ideas for activities are readily accepted. There is a lovely walking path within the courtyard of the townhomes and a lot of green space. Best of all, we were able to bring our dog, and she loves it here. There is frequently someone out sitting in the shade on a bench to give her attention. It is wonderful not to have to worry about outside. Maintenance responds in timely manner to issues arising in our home.

The caregivers make sure each resident is fed, hydrated, changed, bathed. We have never gone there to find my mother in law in any distress.
