I had dabbled with getting help from "organizers" in the past, but am so glad we finally went with a professional and hired Amanda. We were combining homes as well as inherited "stuff", plus we had not done The Purge that comes with kids launching: this was a huge job. I agree with everything said here about Amanda. I wish I could give her more than 5 stars! I've worked with her multiple times as we made our way through the house, room by room (bedrooms, bathrooms, office, kitchen pantry), closet by closet, drawer by drawer. Amanda encouraged me to empty out EVERYTHING and think about when was the last time each item was used, when might I use it in the future, do I have too many of that item (many times YES), and encouraged me to donate or toss. I just had the White Elephant Sale Team (benefiting the Oakland Museum) come over and take away 15 boxes and bags of stuff and we are not done yet! Amanda sorted the "keep items" and labeled each plastic bin, so I can easily find things when needed. In addition, Amanda has encouraged me to change my habits. We just returned from a a vacation and for the first time I brought back nothing - no small toiletries, no pens and pads, no gift items, no t-shirts, no caps - just memories and great photos! Amanda is an organizational master, and we were so grateful to have her help with our coat closet, pantry and entire kitchen!! I work full time and have two young kids and did not have the time, energy or skills to purge and organize all of our stuff. So here is the story...picture this...I finally get the opportunity to renovate my kitchen. Part of that work was to carve out space for a pantry. What I ended up with for my pantry was a huge room with an entire wall filled with shelves and racks floor to ceiling. It was amazing and intimidating all at the same time. I never imagined how emotionally transforming it would be to have my storage room organized! Clearing away the clutter really gives you room to breathe. I could never have done it on my own.
