Saying that Rachel and her team at Collector Care saved my life is only slightly hyperbolic. Last fall when I had some urgent medical tests due to be done on my heart, lungs, and various other organs, I actually suffered a panic attack that prevented me from leaving the house. My grieving family was the target of unnecessary hostility. After my father-in-law passed away, my wife hired Collector Care to clear out a building of his. This was an incredibly stressful task facing my wife and mother-in-law at a vulnerable time in their lives. We paid a premium to go with Collector Care because money was not our concern. Our only consideration was the level of support our family would receive to navigate this difficult time and we had read positive reviews. The day of the cleanup was over 90 degrees in the Gilroy sun. After several hours of work, at about noon, my wife and mother-in-law were hot, dehydrated, stressed and exhausted. They informed a Collector Care worker that they were going to go to the nearest fast food restaurant to use the bathroom and pick up food and fluids to bring back and continue working. I stayed and continued working as I had been doing all morning, helping Collector Care complete the job with my additional free labor. When the owner noticed my wife and mother-in-law were gone, she started berating me. She said she did not give my family permission to leave and they were "absurd" for doing so. I explained the situation, including that they needed to get food, fluids and go to the bathroom. She said that was no excuse and it violated the contract. I asked her, "Does the contract specifically say they can't take a lunch break and they have to remain working for 8 hours straight?" To which she emphatically replied, "Yes!" (I looked later and of course it does not). I asked the owner to call my wife and straighten out the situation, to which she sarcastically replied, "Oh, I am here 'schlepping' the garbage all by myself and you are asking me to do one more thing!". She called my wife and yelled at her for leaving to get food and water, causing my wife to cry. While they were coming back, the owner continued to angrily admonish me stating, that she was told it was an 11'x16' building and this was much larger. We later checked the email and text messages and at no point was she ever told this was the size. She also said she was not told about a smaller room and that she refused to clean it because it was not "in the scope of work". We checked and we did indeed send her pictures of the second room when we asked for a quote for the job. Again, money was no object here. We would have paid whatever it took for as many days it took in order to minimize the stress of this experience. No one was going to blame Collector Care if they weren't able to finish. Our priority was supporting our family in whatever they needed. I can only guess that the owner either had us mixed up with someone else when she bid the job, or never looked at the pictures. In any case, they handled it with a complete lack of professionalism or even basic human decency. The quality of the cleaning itself was fine but I would never hire these people- especially for work with people who are in sensitive or vulnerable state. read more

For those of you who couldn't face clearing your clutter on your own (even trying to do just 5 things at a time to start), I highly recommend calling Collector Care! I can't express how grateful and appreciative I am of the work that Rachel and Stacy did to help clear my house of clutter. My 10 year-old son didn't even want to venture into half of his huge bedroom (re-purposed upstairs bonus room) which was filled with piles of unused/neglected toys, books and games. I've been looking for a service like this. I had a garage filled with stuff I had no idea what was in there and most of the boxes were to heavy for me to move and look inside. Rachel and her team came. They brought all the boxes to the center of the garage. I went through things I wanted, things to be donated and things to be trashed. The items I wanted to keep, they transferred them to clear storage boxes I bought and organized and marked each box. So all the Christmas decorations were grouped together, wrapping paper and ribbons altogether, etc. the heavy items I wanted to keep were brought to ground level so I had access to it. We recently moved and have been very busy working. We also have two young children and three cats, PLUS a lot of "things!" It has been overwhelming trying to sort through where to put things, and this level of chaos has been very stressful! I have worked with Rachel three times now and will continue working with her probably for the next several months to years. If I wasn't such a hands on person myself, I would easily be able to tell Rachel what I needed and she would get it done but that is sadly not how I am able to do things for the most part, and Rachel's style is to work within each of her individual clients' parameters. I was in a unexpected and dire situation. An elderly family member fell ill and had to live in his home with full time care. I found out while visiting him in the hospital that he assigned me as his POA, and that he had not lived in his home for years, used his house as a dumping ground, and his house was unhealthy and uninhabitable.I have never been in a hoarders home. I did my research and found Collector Care had almost all 5 star reviews and the comments made me feel this was the right fit for us. I gave Rachel a call, and she scheduled an appointment with me a few weeks out. This gave us time to sort through what should stay and what should go. It was so bad, we wanted to dump it all, but he was still alive and going back to his home, and deserved his dignity. So we sorted through most of the house which took us 4 weekends, and we were beyond overwhelmed. We were ready for Rachel and her team to come in to do the deep cleaning from top to bottom and inside every nook and cranny of each drawer and cabinet. There was still a ton to organize, and somehow they managed to do it all! Our office needed to relocate to a larger space - unfortunately at the same time we were all working on an all-encompassing, high pressure project. We realized just two weeks out that there was no way we had the time to make the move go smoothly on our own. We reached out to a number of professional organizers and office relocators to no avail. Then, we found Collector Care. Tony visited our office the next morning. He quickly developed a plan, budget, and timeline. On moving day, he and his team were early (a good sign!). Absolutely amazing! Had two great gals (Rachel and Stacey) come to my Mums apartment and they cleaned the two bedroom, two bath place out in two days! Every cupboard, drawer and nook was filled with things. Lots of storage bins. Not saying that's going to be your scenario, but it was for ours. 50 years of things being "saved."
