I spend quite a bit of time on a motorbike. I went to Dr. Sweet with a bad ringing in my ears after spending two full days riding. She told me the dangers of not attending to the constant noise problem that I was encountering and had me fitted for custom ear plugs. But here's the kicker. Not only did she get me setup with custom earplugs, the earplugs themselves were headphones!! Not only could I block out the road noise from the wind, but I could listen to some SWEET tunes while doing so. Anyone who needs anything ear related I would recommend to Dr. Sweet. I had a bad motorbike accident a few months ago and have had horrible tinnitus, noise sensitivity, and dizziness since. I called all around to find a doctor that would speak with me BEFORE the appointment because I want someone who cares, who is a real person, and who can also help me. I'm leaving this review to let others know that Dr. Sweet has compassion for her patients. Maybe I fully recover, maybe I don't - but I do feel better every day and it helps to know that I have someone to talk with who understands me. In this internet age I fell victim to self-diagnosing and overthinking my injuries by searching for help using online forums. Never a good idea. It is nerve racking to be told you have a hearing loss (called deaf by most) and have to get help. I found Dr. Sweet off of Yelp and just said a prayer she could help, because I had already spent three months wasted on another Doctor of Audiology not committed to my needs. I have been a professional actor, singer and musician for 18 years. Trying to learn to hear correctly after a lifetime of reading lips and turning everything way up has been one of the most difficult processes to dial in. Most importantly, you want a Doctor that can LISTEN critically and sometimes creatively service each patient's individual needs. For a solid six months, Dr. Sweet worked with me as I sang in her office, played guitar, tried several different devices and constantly adjusted the levels as my brain adjusted to the new sound waves. No one has been more helpful to me than Amanda Sweet, and of course a big shout out to Gwen too, who keeps the tight ship running. This review covers my experience with Amanda Sweet, AuD back in May 2013. I needed a HINT (Hearing In Noise Test) examination as a part of my medical evaluation for my process as a Law Enforcement Officer. From the get-go, Amanda was nothing but helpful and kind. She was able to accomodate me with my last-minute request for the exam, and treated me with nothing but the utmost respect and professionalism. There's a difference between someone who is just "doing their job" and going through the actions, and someone who truly listens to your concerns/needs and addresses them. Amanda listened to exactly what my requirements were for the HINT and made sure that her results/findings covered those guidelines. Ater having some other testing Amanda Sweet got right to it.She told me about hearing aids that are 100% invisible in the canal.Her testing was quick and efficient and she has a lovely personality which you need to deal with hearing impairment in adults and children. I first visited Dr. Amanda Sweet in 2014 for hearing tests and replacement hearing aids. Since she first called my name in the waiting room Amanda has exceeded my expectations. Right from the beginning her smile, professionalism, and kindness were visible. She assisted me in performing a hearing test, explaining the results in an understandable way, picking out hearing aids that fit my needs and wants, fitting the hearing aids, and completing medical records and a letter for a job that was requesting the information. All of this was done in an extremely short period of time. After all of the above had been completed, Amanda continued to exceed my expectations. I received follow-up communications, touch-up fitting, and updates concerning the hearing aids that I chose. She's always available to fit me into her schedule when I have a need concerning my hearing. I had some ear blockage that was causing me to feel uncomfortable and hearing loss. Dr. Amanda Sweet's name came from a friend's recommendation and when I called to make an appointment, it was no problem. When I arrived for my appointment, Amanda was very friendly and understanding. I told her what was bothering me and she assessed the situation, by putting me through a series of tests. After hearing test, ear scope and some balance testing, we came to the conclusion that some ear wax was building up in my ear. Amanda took me back to the exam room and used some of her tools to remove the ear wax from my ear. As soon as it was removed, it was a huge difference. She then told me to be careful and be aware of putting things in my ear, as it can cause blockage. Dr. Sweet is vey professional and I would highly recommend her for anyone who needs help with ear and or balance issues. read more
