Brought hubby along to enjoy the amenities ($18 walk in plus towel rental). Before my session, Allison & I went over what body parts to focus on. I mentioned I'm also a big fan of the hot stones. And during the session, she included them also. After riding more than 2600 miles on the motorcycles to get to Durango (and still pushing more than 600 to get home)- my body really needed this. I literally walked out of Amaya with no aches and soothed out muscles. Allison gave my back a nice adjustment & worked out a kink on my leg. Highly recommend their services. I visit Amaya every time I'm in Durango-I've had different massage therapists each time, and each one was amazing in her own way.

My massage was great (Barbara was amazing), but overall my experience was not. I was booked for cupping with a therapist who doesn't provide that service, so that was disappointing. The cold tub wasn't very cold, and the hot tub wasn't very hot. Furthermore, they need to have more strict rules with people getting in the tub fully dressed (shoes included). That experience shortened my soak drastically as it was very awkward and the man who entered the tub fully dressed made me very uncomfortable. read more

I don't really want to tell you about this place, as I like to keep secrets, but I also want them to stay in business. Some friends showed me this place on a Sunday afternoon. And, man oh man, what a treat! So for $14, you get to soak in an outdoor hot tub, and there is a dry sauna room and a cold dipping tub. If you forgot your bathing costume, no worries, they have some on hand for you. There is also hot tea and plenty of water on hand so you do not get dehydrated. Showers on hand, so rinse before you get in tub and after. I hear the massages are nice here, but I have yet to try it out. This is now my favorite place in Durango, well next to Father's Daughter Pizza (I am a New Yorker, I am loyal to my pizza) and Sweaty Buddha (I am a hot yoga addict, so nothing is gonna top that). The place looks tiny, but once you get into the hot tub, all your troubles melt away. Then once you have had enough of the hot tub, spend some time in the dry sauna and do some double pigeon poses, while sweating out all your toxins. Then go dip in the cold tub. Now, repeat for the next 2 hours. The little things in life like stretching make every bit of life bearable. I love love this place. You betcha I'm gonna be here after long hikes but also in the winter when it is bone chillin' cold. Oh, I can't wait to warm up my muscles and get a nice stretch in. Meow. You can't go wrong with any of the massage therapists (gabby and wendolynne are two of my absolute favorites and add a cool spiritual element to their work). After you get to soak in these amazing Japanese style soaking tubs, hit the dry sauna and dry off/read in their beautiful garden. This place has nothing but good vibes and is owned by two very caring wonderful people who are also massage therapist and active in the community (Don and Tricia). Anytime there has been a slight admin or billing issue (nothing major, these things happen) the management take immediate proactive steps to correct it. She listened to my needs, intuited some of my unknown sore areas based on me working a desk job, and incorporated some movement of my body into the experience that was so relaxing. After a few days of snowboarding (in this case, iceboarding) my neck and shoulders really hurt. A trip to Amaya was just the answer. My hotel didn't have massage and Amaya got me in on relatively short notice. If you arrive early you can soak in their hot tub, which is al fresco. There is a cold plunge adjacent so if you're so inclined, you can do hot/cold cycles to really get your blood pumping. The facility is kind of funky--in an old house with lots of little rooms for men's/women's changing, massage, etc. My masseuse (Michelle I think?) was great. She had an excellent knack for moving my hands and arms so that she could access different muscles in my shoulders and forearms. Before my next trip I'll make a reservation in advance! read more

Jennifer is the best. She's very knowledgeable and listens to your needs. I have suffered from back pain for about 3 years. The pain was getting worst to the point where it was shooting down to my toes. I could barely finish a workout and was in need of medication almost daily. After 2 sessions of massaging and cupping, my pain decreased. I was able to squat down and carry a bucket full of dirt (40lbs) in a Spartan race without any pain. I have completed a total of 5 sessions with her so far, and I can say I have never felt this good-nerve pain to the toes is dissolved. Thanks to her, I am no longer taking pain medication. read more
