Sooo much fun real nice people me and my family will definitely be back!! Also planning on attending othef events with @socaldnd

This place is the worst, they don't sell drinks there so you gotta byob, the comics are not professionals they're all local teenagers and college students. One of the guys that works there always chain smokes cigarettes out front. The owner who is in charge of this hellhole is always cursing out his employees and he yelled at my friend for buying a ticket at the door and then went on some rant about being $40,000 in debt in front of everybody. Don't waste your time here there's no audience 98% of the time anyways, go to the nearest improv or laugh factory

I attended a comedy night with my nephew who is interested in standup. (I actually wanted him to see it's not as easy as he might think.) It was nice to get out and do something in a casual setting that didn't involve food and drink. It was also very interesting to see a range of comedians from beginners to those who are more experienced and confident. I also attended a daytime entrepreneur meetup at the site, organized by the owner. The other attendees and I really appreciated the energy he is putting into building a space and a community. I look forward to attending more comedy and community-building events at ACT, and I highly recommend that others get out there and support it. We need more real world spaces like this!

None of us had been before, and we've honestly been talking about it ever since. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is awesome. The hostess was welcoming, our server was fantastic, and the whole place has a fun, energetic vibe without feeling over the top. We ordered three appetizers to share, and every one of them was excellent. The burrata was incredibly fresh, the warm bread with olive oil and vinegar was the perfect way to start the meal, and the saffron meatballs were the standout. The short rib stuffed meatballs were absolutely incredible. For our entrees, we ordered five different dishes so everyone could try a little of everything. The lasagna was my favorite, followed closely by the carbonara and the gnocchi. Everything tasted fresh, homemade, and cooked perfectly. Since it was our birthday celebration, we couldn't skip dessert. The giant affogato with hazelnut and pistachios was unbelievable and the perfect way to end the meal. What really made the night special, though, was Domenico. He recommended both food and drinks, personally brought each dish to our table, remembered our names, and made us feel like guests in his home instead of customers in a restaurant. The chef even came out to say hello, which was another great touch. It's rare to find a restaurant where the food is this good and the hospitality is even better. This was a true 10/10 experience from start to finish. We'll absolutely be back, and The Red Room has officially earned a spot on our regular restaurant rotation. Highly recommend.

Food, ambience, service.... it's all there. From the moment we entered we were taken care of. Music was a vibe, food was fantastic (I got the short rib and my girlfriend got chicken pesto gnocchi which were both FANTASTIC), but it's the hospitality of the staff that will make us repeating customers. It was especially special meet the owner, Domenico, who was kind enough to show us around the space. Props to him for also allowing me to sing! We will absolutely be back. Everyone was so kind!

I give 12 Shiny Nickels 1 star. ***** MI Westside Comedy is in the alley between 3rd street and 4th street south of Arizona directly behind the big Santa Monica Parking structure on 4th. If on 3rd street, go into the food court that has the McDonald's, Candy Baron, Subway and walk thru to the alley in the back. This place is small, has a small bar, but if you go on a good night, like the Saturday 10pm improv show it's pretty good and worth it just for the comedy. I went to the 11pm show 12 Shiny Nickels, but caught the tail end of the 10pm show. If you pay for the 10pm show, they let you stay for free for the 11pm show hoping the lead in will have audiences stay, which should say something right there... 12 Shiny Nickels is described as, "Each show features twelve of the best standup comedians in a row doing their best five minutes of material. We have rotating lineup over 80 comics with a new lineup every week." The night I went was not great. If anything, most of the comics were unfocused, new, and got off the stage before their 5 min were up. I now question the phrase, "the best standup comedians" as what they are best of isn't qualified... My Boo said he would go back, I would not.

Your ten dollar admission includes an hour of standup comedy, twelve comics, and... (hope you're sitting down for this)... ALL THE FREE BEER YOU CAN DRINK. Holy moly! I don't know how they can charge so little but I'm there! Decided to check it out because Andy Dick was suppose to be there taping for his new reality show (gotta love watching a train-wreck). The doors open at 10:30pm and the show starts tentatively at 11pm. We arrived a few minutes before 10:30 and were the only people there for awhile. Next time, I'd come closer to 11. It's a little bit of an adventure getting to the theatre, it's located right behind Toi on Sunset Blvd. You go down an alley on Gardner street that looks like something out of Gothom City. A nice man is there to give you a wristband and take your $10/online reservations. You then go down some TREACHEROUS ridiculously steep stairs. Keep in mind, NOT an excellent place to wear your stilettos... Also, quite challenging after drinking boat loads of Tecate. At first, I was a little skeptical about the unlimited free beer but lemme tell you, they are not kidding! There is a bar stocked with canned beer (Pabst, Miller, Tecate, etc.) and you can get up and have as much as you want before and during the show. The show was very entertaining, although it was a little disappointing that Andy Dick didn't show. They were nice enough to let us know he wasn't going to come and offered us refunds before the show started. Not some of the best comedians I've seen but hey, what do you want for $10 and free booze? Halfway through the show they gave away free prizes to people who ordered their tickets in advance... I got a VHS copy of Men In Black 2!! Way better than the guy before me that got an at-home-pregnancy-test kit! Whoo hoo! Really nice people run this show, definitely will be back with more of my beer guzzl'n, comedy love'n friends.

It's a great place to make friends or have a cheap date night. I watch at least 2 shows a month here. They invite an interesting guest to tell true stories and the performers (who all teach improv) create longer scenes based on the stories we just heard. They offer improv classes. There is a drop in class open to all levels on Wednesdays, 101 classes offered a few times throughout the year, and advanced classes. It's not all improv. I've watched drag shows, a sea shanty night, and a fictionalized beauty pageant. The theater also hosts fundraising shows to support nonprofits. They're located inside the Starlight Theater. Just a bunch of ropes to contain the herd, about 30 beer vendors and roughly 3 food trucks, but for $35-50 entry fee it was pretty intriguing to people like myself with nothing better to do than to sample as many craft brews as possible. The "VIP" line stretched for a good 100-200 yards which was kind of a bummer for anyone like me who showed up 15-20 minutes before the stated start time (1pm) and were about 250th in line on this warm summer day. Non-VIPs had OK, though they couldn't get in until 2pm, and the ticket scanning system could have gone off a tiny bit smoother but there's a first time for everything, no? Anyway 45 minutes later I was freed from my chains and ready to indulge. Once you got in, it was fun wandering around from booth to booth to get your brew on, and pretty much all the beer was worth the wait. Many tasty choices and even frozen beer to sample, which were virtually unlimited in the number of cupfulls you could enjoy. Lines were kinda bugging at first but even though the lines didn't really get shorter, once you had a few beers in you, then you didn't really notice. Hot breezy day but didn't even notice after my 5th or 6th cup. Or maybe it was my second frozen cup. Many of the stalwarts were there like Stone Brewing, but also some of the good local ones like Four Sons, and even some tiny mom&pop craft brewers I hadn't really heard of before. All in all it was a good time and can't wait to experience more of this kind of fun and beer shenanigans, and live music which kicked in after hour two. Food was OK, that's about the one thing (besides the lines) that could've probably improved. But hey I wasn't really there for the food, just needed something to help absorb all that beer and knock down my growing hunger by the end of the event. The upcoming Newport Dunes Beer Festival is put on (organized and run) by the same folks and I'm hoping for an even bigger and better bash this time around.
