Cocktails & Dreams behind the bar. IYKYK

This is my 2nd year in a row visiting Pier Summit Ski Lodge. It's a cute pop-up with fun 80's vibes (neon, outfits, music, games, etc). The drinks are good but pricey. There are two different colored viewfinders on the tables: one has cocktails and the other has the food menu. I like the viewfinder idea since you can see the pictures, price and ingredients on the viewfinder. Whenever someone orders shots on the shotski they turn on the snow. Make sure to cover your drinks and try not to get any in your mouth and definitely don't snort it (it's soap and stings). This venue is outside in the Kimpton courtyard so make sure to bring a coat or don your finest apres ski outfits. They do have heaters scattered around and two fire pit areas to keep you warm. It can be difficult to find a table on a weekend, but just wait it out and you'll find one. This is not a party here all night bar, but maybe a 1-2 hour stop somewhere in your night. I'd say night time is the best time to visit so the neon lights come on as they really add to the esthetic. They close at 10pm so no late night drinks. We ordered the fondue both times and the accoutrements that come with it this year are not good. It comes with broccolini, bread and potatoes (too many carbs). It would be nice if they had some other veggies. I wanted to order the raclette this year which I'm happy they added to the menu because I love it, but I was having too much fun and forgot. I'd recommend a visit for anyone wanting to try something new and seasonal. It definitely gives Hot Tub Time Machine/80's Apres Ski Vibes.

This is a seasonal pop up bar at the Shorebreak hotel in Huntington Beach! Reservations aren't needed but the place can get pretty busy. Went on a Saturday at around 8pm and although it was busy, we were still able to get cocktails fast. I got the Big Foot $20 - woodford reserve bourbon, marshmallow simple syrup, laphroaig, graham cracker crumb, toasted marshmallow. It was delicious and a strong cocktail! I didn't see anyone eating food here, just lot's of people ordering the drinks. The place is very instagram able. Also the fake snow seems to come out every 15-20 mins. The "snow" is really soap so cover your eyes and cocktails! Overall, it's a fun experience worth checking out if you're in the area. I wouldn't drive from far to do this as it's pretty small. The hours are limited to only 10pm so plan accordingly and come early!

I will admit-- social media got me and this place looked epic on tik tok and IG. I was bummed I wasn't able to make it last year so I was sure to make it opening month this year around. Pier Summit is located in the Kimpton Shore Break Hotel in HB on the second floor. Parking in the structure was a flat $10 for us. Pier Summit it currently running until the first week of January and its a fun 80s theme snow summit pop up. Granted this is a pop up bar but I was expecting it to be much larger. Its actually fairly small and they don't do reservations so you have to hawk for a table. The second ding is even if you get a table before ordering the waitresses are non existent so you have to go to the bar to order. So it leaves a long line of patrons at the bar. We waited around 35 minutes to order our drinks as it seems they were under staffed only two bartenders for the whole pop up which was kind of crazy and I felt bad for the gals. They def were hustling but just the whole concept of ordering was inconvenient. We also ordered a ski shot for two $24 and it is on a ski but can only be done at the bar-- if I knew this prior I wouldn't have ordered as it slows down the ordering line. The ski shots were delicious though and they have a snow fall whenever someone orders which is very cute. Surprisingly the food was delicious-- but that took another 40 minutes to arrive. We just ordered the west slop hosti which was potatoes and we added a bratwurst which was DELICIOUS! I was surprised! I did see patrons returning food as it took too long and they were over it. I am not sure if in general this place is understaffed as everything took quite a while for a Wednesday night so I can't even imagine a busy weekend night. I think if they had actual waitresses to attend to the tables, more bartenders then this place would be more enjoyable. The drinks were $17 and up but pretty solid. This is a fun place to get into the winter spirit though!

I was expecting a little more from this place, but it was still fun. I wouldn't plan a night here, maybe as a first stop for a quick drink to start the night. It's a cute pop up, they play good 80s music, and the drinks were good. We tried the snow bunny and the espresso martini. There was only one bartender and the line was pretty long the whole time we were there. It does "snow" - be aware the snow is HUGE and since it's soap, cover your drinks and hair if you don't want to get wet. We went at opening and it was already completely full. A one time thing if you're in the area.

This pop up was really cute and fun for a date night. It's located inside the hotel and the drinks are phenomenal. The decorated interior and snow effect really set it off!

It was super cute! I saw this experience on IG. If there is a pop up bar in my neighborhood I had to try it! I got there just in time to snag us a seat. Because the place got super packed fairly quickly. The hot cheese fondue platter was all right. It stayed hot for this cold night. The drinks were way over priced but super fun. Ample flare to keep your eyes entertained. And foam disguised as snow for extra fun. But cover your drinks! The foam will go in there. Pop up bars are fun. The experience is what you are paying for not the service. I am excited to see what pops up this summer or next winter.

The Pier Summit Ski Lodge is a winter pop up 80s themed bar at the Kimpton Shorebreak resort. My friend found this on tiktok and decided to check it out. I would recommend arriving early since we had a 45~ wait time to even get in. We waited at the hotel bar which was pretty close but there's also an area where you can chill or play games (like ping pong). The place itself is small and it's outside so definitely plan to dress warm! We ended up getting drinks and chocolate fondue. Everything is on the pricier end so I would opt to just order the drinks over the food if you're trying to save. The drinks here are pretty cool and all have unique names! I ordered the snow bunny, which was delicious! My friend ordered feeling nippy, which comes in a cup completely made of ice. We also had the big foot and you get a toasted marshmallow with that drink! We also had the shot ski with ski lift. When you order the shots, you'll get to take it from a ski and they'll shoot out snow in the air. It's pricey for a shot but overall a good experience! Theres street parking if you get lucky and there is a parking garage for the hotel. The hotel won't validate parking though and I think we stayed there for about 3~ hours (including when we waited to get in). Overall this was a fun experience!

The place was buzzin on Saturday afternoon which I immediately took as a good sign. It was an extremely hot day (cue Cali heat wave) and standing inside the restaurant didn't help. No AC and hot open kitchen made for a sweaty time. Ordered an Ai Pono Poke bowl and Roots plate to-go. Our total was $38 between the two items. Got home in about 25 mins and immediately dug in. For a $16 poke bowl, I guess I was expecting a bit more fish. Also, the rice had a sour ish taste (according to me). The Roots plate quantity was solid but the short rib was very chewy. Definitely a preference thing but chewy short rib is not my jam. The flavors were good though. There wasn't much of a service aspect to our experience cause we took our meal to go. Unfortunately was a bit disappointed as the food didn't hit the mark but very open to trying again in the future.

[Parking]: $15 per vehicle for on-site parking just to enter the OC Fair & Event Center. [Admission]: Our party purchased the same-day tickets and paid a $16 per person entry fee. [What to expect]: The market was approximately half food vendors and half arts / crafts / gift vendors. There were solid craft and gift vendors, but not too many art vendors. The food was extremely overpriced ... a simple appetizer = at least $15+ & a filling meal = at least $25. The only real positive? There was a mahjong area that offered free lessons. The performance stage was alright. [Food]: Our party ended up getting only 6 pieces of soup dumplings (aka XLB) from Dumpling Dream for $14 and a cup of gelatea from Boutcha for $7.20 (one of the most affordable and best item to get at the market). [Conclusion]: If I ever come back to 626 Night Market, I would probably stick with the Arcadia location as parking is free and the admission fee is slightly cheaper. I am still having a hard time digesting the fact that getting into the market cost $30+ before even buying any food if I come here alone and I would also need to spend another $25+ just to feel like I had eaten a legit meal. I am good with this one-and-done visit.

We started with the mussels, served in a light garlic broth with a thick slice of charred, garlic-rubbed bread perched on top and finished with fresh microgreens. The bread alone was worth it, crispy and blistered on the outside, soft in the middle, perfect for soaking up the broth. The French onion soup was rich and deeply savory, with a broiled cheese cap that held together beautifully when you broke through it with your spoon, finished with fresh herbs for a little brightness. For the main, the grilled lamb chop was cooked exactly to temperature, great char on the outside, tender and juicy in the center. It came with a hearty herbed grain salad and a vibrant chimichurri that cut through the richness perfectly. We also had a couple of their cocktails, one with a sugared rim and both really well balanced, not overly sweet like a lot of happy hour drinks tend to be. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, wood tones throughout, low lighting, lively but not overwhelming. For a first visit, this blew my expectations out of the water, and I'm already planning my next trip back for happy hour. Highly recommend.
