We were referred to Sophie from a family friend in the Ventura wedding business community and we are so glad we decided to work with her and her team. We worked with Sophie for 2 years on our wedding that was pushed a year because of COVID. When we started we thought we were working with a pretty straightforward venue...until we picked things back up and there was new ownership, they no longer provided catering, and they couldn't give us a straight answer on many things. Sometimes we would wait a few weeks for an answer to a question, but it was never something that was urgent (and this was also the most insane wedding year ever for vendors). If you are lucky enough to secure Sophie as your planner, you are in for a treat. My now husband and I lived in Santa Barbara during our college years at UCSB and always knew if we got married it had to be in Santa Barbara, and it had to be at the Courthouse. While the Courthouse had never permitted receptions before, we were the first (just this past Saturday). Naturally as a new bride there are "what if's" and doomsday scenarios that organically come up throughout the planning process, especially at a brand new venue. My advice is really ask questions and see if the planner fits for you. Amazing Day Events was the first to call back, we enjoyed Sophie's cheery attitude and can-do mood. I wish we had talked to more planners and asked more questions. I'd caution to really interview your planner-- understand what they are open about and if they are willing to bend with your ideas. You pay for what you get. There were times we leaned on our planner for recommendations/ideas. However, the moment the recommendations were not adopted, a sour taste of, "fine, you do it yourself," was felt. Maybe this was just unique to us. The day of the wedding was the day we were really relying on our planner. It is the MOST important day as everything comes into play and I think that's the hardest part. As a bride and groom, you do not want to have to worry about things the day of. There were multiple occurrences that made things more difficult for us the day of-- Cards were not taken care of, an outdated guest list was given to our venue, and there was disorganization-- when we specifically asked for everything to be communicated clearly with our guests. Unfortunately, we did not feel like we were a priority with our previous planner and noticed that the ball was being dropped. They were quick to respond to my millions of questions, from "how do you transfer 175 people to the reception" to "what color chair cushions should we order?" Everything seemed to be going according to plan until we had another very stressful situation thrown at us: our original wedding venue was no longer hospitable to events on the property due to noise complaints. Just 3 weeks before our wedding, we had to move the entire party to a different location. I was in full on panic mode, but Kelsey and Sophie handled it with grace and made everything come together beautifully. I'm not sure how they did it, because they never burdened me with the stress of it all. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect. Kelsey was there the whole day. We adored Sophie and hiring her was one of the best decisions we made through out the entire process. She was defintiley meant to be a wedding planner. We hired her on the spot. She was very direct and professional which we liked. She didn't sugar coat anything, she always made us feel comfortable and was always a positive person to be around. Sophie was such an important part of our wedding from the beginning, and up until the last song was played, she made sure everything was perfect! Throughout the process she was organized, transparent, honest, helpful and always did everything with such a positive attitude, even when I asked a million questions at a time. She was an incredible coordinator who provided invaluable recommendations for almost all of our other vendors including our caterer, DJ, florist and strings. Our wedding day was so organized that we did not have to worry about feeling rushed and got to spend time with our guests, with each other and truly enjoy our special day. USE AMAZING DAY EVENTS!!!! Sophie is amazing. She works incredibly hard before the event and during the event. We got married in September at the Mission and Rockwood, the Women's Club, and she was a lifesaver. She provided lots of great venue and vendor recommendations and was just fabulous. During the wedding she was everywhere when we needed her yet she seemed to always be behind the scenes. Even our guests commented on how great she was. I swear by how on top of things she was throughout the whole process and what she knows needed to get done. The pre-meetings were so helpful and put us at ease after each time we met with her. For brides and grooms that work in events, finding the right coordinator can be a huge challenge. At first you think, "I can totally do this on my own" and then after two months of drowning in Pinterest boards you realize that you might need some help. In my mind I pictured a wedding coordinator as a) someone who only told you what you wanted to hear. "Yes, purple and red crushed velvet would be perfect!" or b) someone who didn't offer any flexibility. "That's a nice idea, but here's what we are going to do." ... Sophie was the perfect mix of both. Someone who would both bring you back to reality and make your ideas come to life. Just what we needed. Since my (now) husband and I were planning our wedding from Boston, we did much of our planning over the phone and via email. As soon as we jumped on our first call we were immediately at ease. It was clear that Sophie was a pro and that we were in good hands. Throughout the rest of the planning process Sophie was extremely organized and kept all of our vendors on the same page (and admittedly kept us from getting too distracted by work and life - a little kick in the butt every now and again was much needed - ha). I had a small amount of fear that I would be distracted on the big day, thinking about flowers, catering, and linens. But it was just the opposite. On our wedding day, Sophie handled all of the logistics wonderfully. We were able to enjoy every moment of our day knowing that Sophie was overseeing it all.
