When we decided to elope to Santa Barbara for our vows, one of the hardest parts was to trust someone we met online to be our officiant. My husband (!!) and I are both religious but also very spiritual and it was hard to find the right balance. I talked to a few people and decided that perhaps we'd just do the courthouse thing and then take some photos in our formal clothes. We love Patrice! We were sooo lucky to find her! My husband and I were planning on having a very simple ceremony, just us, at the Santa Barbara courthouse. We would be married by someone they provided. Somehow we got very confused on the gov websites (you know how that goes!) so by the time we called to book, it was all full. We were devastated for about a minute until we called Patrice. She then told us she would give us a short notice wedding there at the courthouse and charge her short notice fee. I thought wow thats probably gonna cost us a lot more! But no, it cost less,even better. Plus she married us outside there at any location we would like. The courthouse wouldve charged us alot more to have them marry us outside. We then met her there with her trusty witness Lawrence by her side. She suggested a beautiful spot to marry us at and even ensured that there would be no unwanted distractions for us by shooing away a buss that was idling nearby. Beforehand she had us send her any sentiments that we might have for one another and used them to make our ceremony very special and personal. I did my best to not sob the whole time looking into my hunnys eyes all the while Larry lovingly took pictures of us with our camera to commemorate the special occasion. I even requested that we not say the " till death do we part" thing and she had told me not to worry and that she never says "the death thing". She made it so beautiful and special for us there on that March 20, 2014 first day of spring, outside with the sun shinning and the birds singing. When we were done she even went in to the office with us and made sure that we received our marriage documents on time since we were moving outta state soon. Im not gonna say what she did nor do i know if she could do it again but this woman knows what she is doing and is a definite go-getter! So helpful. She was even so nice that she even left us with a book of our personal wedding vows to pull out on our anniversary. So very sweet!
