My husband and I were deeply disappointed by the communication and service with Jessica that we could no longer move forward with her. We reached out to her in March 2020 to have her coordinate our wedding and had put down a deposit. Due to the pandemic we immediately had to shift plans and we asked her, the venue and our DJ if they could shift to a 5 year credit which they all agreed to. Anticipating our 5 year, we reached out to her December 7th 2023 to let her know our intentions of planning our 5 year in 2025. We were able to confirm our venue and our DJ at this time so we felt we should reach out to her as well. With no response, I reached out a week and a half later to check in. She said she was available but had increased her prices. We reached back out same day and didn't hear back a week and a half later and checked in. She had an auto-response that she would be out of office until January 9th. Weird since she never followed up with us beforehand. We reached back out on the 9th and she responded saying she got the dates wrong and thought it was 2024 and if she was available in 2025 she would be there but otherwise it would be her staff to take over. "If I do not book a wedding on that date, then I would continue as your day-of coordinator." Basically saying if another wedding of higher value doesn't come up she would serve us. This left a bad taste in our mouths. We responded back the next day, no response. A week later, no response and an auto-message. 2 weeks later and no response until the 26th even though she was actively posting on social media and going out to cocktails on her stories. Her response was that since our event was over a year out, she was spending more time on other large-scale event clients. She then explained that her socials were run by her husband and 14 year old daughter. The only reason I feel that she finally responded was because we told her that if we didn't have some type of response and resolution by 6pm that day that we would share our experience, which she still didn't respond to until 10pm. Her last response was "I'm really sorry you feel that way. I would hope our previous working relationship would have shown my attention to detail and demand for great service for my clients. You unfortunately caught me at a very busy time during, and just after, the holidays." We had no previous working relationship, and if she was referring to our earlier emails that still didn't show her work ethic. Also if she's charging more, wouldn't she have a higher attention to detail now? I can appreciate being busy, but I would never leave my client hanging and put out an auto-responder message without finishing up a conversation with a client. I would at least send a quick personal email saying, I had got theirs and would respond back as soon as possible. Every luxury planner and vendor we reached out to got back to us within 72 hours, which I find odd she could not manage as we had to wait 16 days+ for responses. We really wanted to work with someone who was excited to work with us on our special day but it seemed that from the time we booked her until we reached back out for our anniversary event, that our event did not seem aligned with her luxury business values since her contact form is looking at booking events that are $100K plus. She never apologized other than 'I'm sorry you feel that way'. She didn't even refund our deposit even if it was partial. It was a nightmare trying to get answers from her. She might market herself as luxury, but her service and standard are far from it in our experience. There are far better planners out there and we recommend looking elsewhere. read more

Jess is truly the best of the best, top tier wedding planner. I didn't realize what full-service planning meant until Jess literally made everything exceptionally easy, fun and memorable. Jess goes the extra mile with literally every detail for the wedding, I don't know how she does it!! I was so bad at the correspondence and easily got overwhelmed by all the tasks at hand, but Jess was right there the whole time, and if I was behind on a task, she would text/call me and then take care of the corresponding with the vendor. This was massive for me, because as a bride planning a wedding all while working full time and planning a move across the country, I relied on Jess for so much and she always had my back and made all the planning x10000 easier than I expected! Jess is one of those magical people who you just want on your team because she get sh*t done, has fun, and thinks of details you would've never thought of. We got married at my husband's house and had to install literally everything from a outdoor kitchen, bathrooms, electric, sound, and transform a tennis court into a tented venue. This was a massive undertaking, and one that most could not be trusted with...but Jess stayed with us the entire week leading up to the wedding to make sure every layer to the event set up was perfectly crafted. The house was so beautiful and the transformation was unlike anything I've ever seen. The way Jess is able to so effortlessly collaborate with and manage the dozens of vendors working at the house was CEO vibes. She is so calm, but energetic, direct, but empathetic, creative, but strategic. Jess brings it all to the table, and the table is freaking beautiful!! I know everyone involved in the wedding would say the same :) Which also, Jess has the most insanely talented, vetted, fun list of vendors to work with- everyone she recommended was 10/10. I had mentioned in the passing that it would be fun to incorporate our friend's favorite shots at the wedding, but it seemed challenging because it was a shot of tequila, with clementines and a splash of cinnamon. I had forgotten about it till at the wedding, Jess came on the dance floor serving a platter full of tequila shots, and clementines dusted in cinnamon and was passing them out to all our friends. This was such a highlight because all our friends just flocked to Jess on the dance floor, and it perfectly encapsulated her attention to detail, hard work, and crazy fun loving spirit. When my husband and I first met Jessica Kuipers, we both fell in love with her vivacious sparkling charm, wit and infectiously bubbly personality. Jessica is an amazing event planner. She planned and coordinate my wedding this June at Westmont and the Double Tree in Santa Barbara and I could not have been happier. PERSONALITY. PERSONALITY. PERSONALITY. ...and seamless execution. I was 3 months away from the 'wedding of my dreams', when it finally dawned on me that I needed to begin looking for a month-of coordinator to help me cross that final hurdle. I had a few event planners in mind, but after a few calls and emails, I wasn't fully convinced that I had found someone who understood my vision. Given that our venue was unique and off-the-beaten path (for now at least!), I began reaching out to various coordinators that came highly recommended by the venue's property manager. I e-mailed a few, received immediate responses from many, but Jessica was the only coordinator who sought to speak to me on the phone directly. BINGO. From the moment our one hour phone consultation ended, I felt as though I had made a new friend. Jessica's bubbly personality is contagious! But even more impressive is her professionalism, attention to detail, and industry expertise! Coupled with friendly and firm vendor management skills (namely, keeping them on track and in focus!), and vendor networking capabilities - Jessica is a one stop shop when it comes to event management. Let me step back a minute --- I've neglected to mention a key personality trait of mine... I am what some may call an "OCD" kind of a bride. I'm very organized, very attentive to details, and hold "efficient time-management" to a high regard. Throughout the process, Jessica knew that my schedule was busy with work and wedding planning, and made every effort to accommodate my requests and questions via e-mail. This was especially helpful considering I lived 6 hours away from Jessica AND my wedding venue. From final contract reviews, facilitating last minute amendments to my lighting and party rentals needs - every issue was addressed, even things I never even thought to consider, or things I didn't know I even needed. This allowed me to allocate time to work on the handful of DIY projects that I still had left outstanding. As a result, not one moment in my one year of wedding planning did I ever become the infamous bridezilla! I've got to say, that's something I'm profoundly proud of. Come wedding weekend, Jessica and her staff facilitated the rehearsal, venue set up, pre-wedding, wedding, and post-wedding events SEAMLESSLY. My family loved her, my now-husband loved her, and most importantly, I loved her! From making sure that the groom and I didn't cross paths before the ceremony, to helping the tipsy groom locate his "missing" jeep that was never really at the venue to begin with, Jessica had everything under control --- I didn't have to worry about A THING on my wedding day. I was the effortless bride, and more relaxed than I ever thought I would be on my very special day. I soaked in every moment, enjoyed the company of my guests, and giggled during moments when Jessica, in full stealth mode, would pass by me and whisper "Do you need anything? Are you okay? I have to be honest, I hired Jessica Kuipers because she came highly recommended from my venue and my venue required me to hire a "day of" coordinator. That being said, it was the best money spent on my wedding. I actually ended up hiring Jessica as my "month of" coordinator to coordinate all of the vendors that we had selected (Michael C. noted above was one of them) the month before the wedding as well as the rehearsal day and day of. Jessica and her team were absolutely top notch. She is amazing to work with. She is a consummate professional, totally personable, AND she coordinated my wedding when she was about 9 months pregnant. She helps you plan for things that you don't even think about like "how do you want to be introduced when you walk in? "keep your toasts to 5 minutes or else your food will get cold, etc." Because of Jessica and her team, I was able to stay completely stress free the day of the wedding. At one point in the evening I didn't know where the keys to my car were and out of nowhere one of her teammates jumped in "oh they're in my pocket". They literally predicted every.single.need. of myself, my family and my wedding party. I would recommend Jessica and Bijoux Events in a heartbeat. Even if you don't think you have money in your budget for a coordinator, you should make room for Jessica and Bijoux Events! read more

Just an example of how great she and her employees are we ordered cupcakes from a bakery in buelton, ca unfortunately they don't deliver to Ojai (where we got married) the morning of someone drove up there picked up our cupcakes and brought them to the venue. LOVED Jessica!!! She was our "month of coordinator" for our Sept 2015 wedding and she was awesome!!! She was super personable, has a great sense of humor and was very responsive, and very honest and upfront about things which I appreciated. She was incredibly professional and organized. When it came to connecting and meeting at different points in the process, she was very flexible with my schedule (as I was coming from NYC) and overall goes out of her way to try to be of service. Even our family and friends (and wedding party) made comments about how great (and cool) she was doing rehearsals and on the big day. I've honestly never written a negative review, as I generally try to give people/businesses the benefit of the doubt, however in this case I feel the need to warn other brides out there & wish that other brides had honestly reviewed Bijoux Events so that I could have made a more informed decision when I was looking to choose a wedding planner. I don't even know where to start on what a disaster my experience with Bijoux Events. We chose Bijoux Events because they claimed they had experience with Indian weddings and opted for the partial planning package. From the beginning it was hard to get a hold of her. She doesn't work on Mondays and Wednesdays & most Fridays and weekends she had events, so we literally had 2-3 days a week that we could possibly get a hold of her & even then it was hard to get responses to our emails....she seemed to always have excuses that she had other weddings going on up until about the week before our wedding. Our florist literally tried contacting her for a MONTH (via text/phone etc.) before giving up and having me intervene. We also had multiple guest and vendor complaints about how rude and aggressive Jessica was. I had to awkwardly apologize on Jessica's behalf to three of the vendors during different parts of the wedding planning process & was genuinely concerned that some of the vendors were going to drop out because of how condescending she was when she spoke to them! It seemed like if we chose a vendor that wasn't HER pick, she felt that it was appropriate to be rude to them. At one point it got so uncomfortable being on a text chain between her and the vendor and seeing how disrespectful and rude her responses were to my vendor, that I had to literally ask Jessica to please treat my vendors with respect even if they weren't her choice. Even worse was the number of comments we received from wedding guests after the wedding about how rude she was at different times during the weekend. Guests also were amazed at how rude she was to vendors and commented at how she would yell at vendors... in front of guests! I don't know if she doesn't do well under stress or what, but it was honestly plain embarrassing to have SO many guests tell us how rude she was at different points of our weekend weekend. Beyond personality issues, Jessica and her team totally belly flopped on the day of the wedding ceremony. Part of the reason we chose Bijoux was because they claimed to have experience with Indian weddings. We put together a lot of information for our other vendors who had limited experience with Indian weddings, and they were all able to understand what was needed from them. I'm honestly sure if she panicked or what, but she literally did not end up coordinating the ceremony on the day of the wedding! Yes, you read right. She no joke passed the buck to my cousin a few minutes before the wedding ceremony was to start, asking her "if she had the ceremony" under control and proceeded to spend the 1.5 hour ceremony shuttling guests, but beyond that we don't understand how/ why she literally went MIA and did not do any of the ceremony coordination! My cousin literally ended up coordinating the whole ceremony ad-hoc, because Jessica was nowhere to be seen! My cousin had to lead the groom's procession into the ceremony, had to organize the order that people walked down the aisle...everything! It was honestly bizarre and hard to believe. I've heard of horror stories from bad wedding planners, but for someone to straight up not do the basic coordination for the ceremony (for as simple as something as coordinating the order that people were to walk down the aisle) is unacceptable. I could go on and on about what a disaster our experience in working with Jessica was, but I'll save you. She missed the ball completely on the most important part of the whole weekend and didn't seem to have a grasp of what was important and what wasn't. We've heard a slew of excuses and mean accusations from her end following the wedding, but to this day I genuinely don't understand how someone who calls herself a wedding planner could conduct herself the way she did and be so unapologetic about what a disaster the wedding ceremony turned out to be because of her lack of professionalism and responsibility. At the end of the day there are so many wedding planners in southern California. Save yourself the stress and money and go with someone else who will carry though their responsibilities with reliability, honesty, kindness and professionalism! EDIT: I have received multiple yelp messages from both vendors & wedding guests who all experienced similar disasters & commented how similarly rude/unprofessional Jessica was at different times. Additionally, the 5 star venue where we got married at no longer recommends her as a preferred vendor after seeing what a disaster her and her team were. Pretty bold statement... read more

I actually started my wedding planning process without a planner. I had a trunk load of ideas and I am a creative person so I felt like the planning was really something that I was not only capable of, but I really wanted to be in control of by myself. However, anyone who goes through the process finds out pretty quickly how tricky it gets to make decisions that satisfy both the bride and groom, and the rest of the family too! Those struggles combined with handling venue restrictions, finding reliable vendors and all the growing costs became very overwhelming. I had found I really lost sight of what I wanted in the first place. That is when we brought Jessica on board. Immediately we realized we should have just started with her. She came in and gathered all of our work, organized it and made everything instantly simple. She found great vendors, made sure we utilized every inch of our venue in the most creative ways, and really brought our dream wedding to life. The planning became this calm experience that I was able to actually enjoy, and the wedding itself exceeded my hopes and dreams enormously. Jessica is truly the best! From the moment we first talked over the phone, I knew I was in great hands. When I arrived in SB for the wedding weekend, she followed up with every last little detail and never rushed any meeting we had together or forgot any of our concerns. We hired Jessica with Bijoux Events for her one month of wedding planning and we were thrilled with our amazing wedding and reception. We wanted a lot of special touches and for the event to be special and fun but also intimate for ourselves and all of our guests.
