I have color treated hair and wanted to make sure it would be OK before having such a harsh procedure done. Lisa the owner outright lied to me saying it would be fine and made my appointment. I came in two days later for the perm only to have my hair fried beyond belief!!!!! My mom had gone to her for perms in the past and has known her mother for years. I expected better service as well as honesty. My mom told me that she had been in to get her hair done more recently when Lisa admitted that she wanted to perm my hair since the other lady working there had refused and she needed the money. Shady business practice at best!! Imagine how I felt all this time thinking she had made an honest mistake. I wouldn't step foot into this business again. Nor will I ever recommend it to anyone! I will warn all about her greed and lack of ethics!!! It now has taken two years to grow out my hair to a healthy condition again. I couldn't even get a pick thru it for the first year. Had to spend several hundred dollars on treatments, shampoo, conditioner, creams and nothing helped since it was burnt beyond repair. It had to be cut off until all the damaged hair was gone!!! Was totally embarrassed to walk out my door every day. Guess making money is her only goal. NOT doing hair well, giving good service or her reputation in such a small city such as Marshalltown. Where everyone pretty much knows each other or talks to each other at some point. I have not one good thing to say about my experience going there and wish I never had stepped foot there, in the first place. If I could give her a negative amount of stars on yelp I would give her a -4. Only because I'm feeling generous!!! I did not have much options of where to go to have it fixed and styled. I took my chances and went into Great Clips in Marshalltown. The SWEETEST, KINDEST soul helped fix my hair, and bring back it's style and shine back!! Charlotte, she fixed the damage that happened and brought it back to life. She was veryyy familiar with Asian hair. She gave me back my layers, even touched up on the split ends, and gave me some styling tips!! She was gentle, kind, polite and she even knows Sign Language!! I had taken the class in past college classes, and she helped me brush up on my signing. She was so kind and the absolute sweetest person I have met here. I have since then, been back to her a few times, and my husband even gets his haircuts from Charlotte as well!! We both enjoy her giving us a nice, clean, fresh hair cut! She always asks us how we have been, if anything new is going on, or if we are okay. She is the most kindest person who puts her own feelings aside to make sure her clients are cared for! Charlotte is the nicest stylist I have met here in Marshalltown. I told her about the few times I cut my hair off to donate it to children with cancer, and she had informed me that Great Clips in Marshalltown does that!!
