Last summer after a K-Nails pedicure I ended up with an ingrown toenail so deep that I had to have a podiatrist's help to correct it. But a few weeks ago I went impulsively. I asked for a basic pedicure with no polish. The technician did a superficial job, very little grooming, just clipping and filing, no cuticles, no lotion. Another staff member arrived while I was there, turned up the salon music AND turned on her iPhone's music, then ate breakfast at her station. I did not complain because I should have known better, paid the $50, left a tip because I felt bad for the obviously inept and inexperienced technician, maybe straight out of school and didn't know any better. But I know better and I won't be back.

But while she was doing my nails she would slam my hands on the table and now I bruises all over my hands and my nails are chipped but also it was not clean in there they used old nail filles and they were not nice. I was there on a nice vaction with my family and I live in NYC and i went to my nail tec in NYC and they said " this is a awful job". There were some other people waiting and there was only 2 people working and the owner was on her phone the entire time that i was there. It is very sketchy and I felt very assaulted by my nail tech. DO NOT GO THERE!

The minute we entered we were greeted by the owner, Christina, who got us set up for our massage. I had Melissa as a my massage therapist and couldn't have asked for a better experience. She was very warm and kind throughout the massage and very intuitive in tending to any unspoken needs. The owner Christina is a gifted healer and has created a sacred sanctuary for people to retreat from the chaos of the busy world where you can come to reconnect to yourself and truly leave feeling rebalanced and filled with peace. The energy of this space is extraordinary and filled with magic and love. It is rare to find a place with this kind of energy and is all a result of Christina's pure heart, intention and incredible gifts. She is a rare gem who is so needed right now! I am so grateful for the place she has created. This place is truly a gem and I cannot recommend it enough! If you are in the Lake Placid area and unsure of how to spend your time I highly recommend trying out one if there services and feel confident you will not be disappointed! Jackie K

Planning even a small wedding in 2020 is an exhausting and endlessly challenging task. But with Amber's support, arranging services that were safe and professional was straightforward and simple. Amber was consistent throughout the planning process and thought creatively about how we could work together to create beautiful hair styles. She brought my dream to life, as well as the visions of my bridal party members. Amber is a delight to work with and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a exemplary professional for their wedding or special occasion. Thank you for helping us to feel so beautiful on my big day

Let me start by saying I LOVE the ladies at Rustic Roots and they're great people. Jenna has been…read moredoing my hair for over a year now and does a great job. When she relocated, I decided to try working with Amber. I was a redder/chocolatey brown when I first came into the salon. We lightened me up to a really pretty dark orangey blonde, but it was still a little too warm for me. So I went back to Amber and asked to be lightened up a bit more just a little less orangey, but instead left completely bleached blonde and totally fried, and it was not a good look. Desperate and two days away from a wedding, I asked her to tone me down to an ashy brown instead. I left the salon with a mix of grey, purple, brown? and green hair. My naturally curly hair was absolutely fried and pin straight from the damage. The next day I went to another salon and they fixed my hair up fabulously and you wouldn't even be able to tell it was multiple colors originally. I was the second person coming from Rustic Roots to get their hair fixed that week. My hair is now dyed back to my root color so I can leave it alone and let the damage grow out completely. My once kinky curly hair is now half curly/half straight and fried to a crisp. I hate leaving such a negative review, but the lack of education and attentiveness for hair care was sad. And I do understand that everyone makes mistakes, especially with hair, but a trained professional should not be producing work like this. I've seen great work come out of Rustic Roots and I'm disappointed that it didn't work out for me.

Lucky for me, Katie at the Mirror Lake Inn spa grabbed her hot stones and got to WORK. The 80 minute massage I experienced was truly next level relaxation. I made the appointment for a Friday one week before, and was so excited to get in. The spa itself is gorgeous, though a huge bummer that the sauna and locker room aren't accessible at this time due to COVID. I took a walk through and had envy for everyone who got to enjoy that level of LAVISH. Still 5 stars even though I didn't get the full experience. Staff was fantastic and you can't beat the location. This is the biggest, splurgiest "treat yo self" I'll do all year, as an 80 minute hot stone massage ran me more than $200 with tip. She's not cheap but I will continue to rationalize this experience in my head as 100000% worth it. The need to not pay attention to anything but my back feeling better for an hour was a gift only $200 can buy. This business page is confusing and the photos are more indicative of the INN then the spa. I stayed at the next door high peaks resort and did a service here, and you do not have the stay at the inn to enjoy the spa. Happy relaxing and thank you to Katie and the team at the spa for such an awesome experience!

The Inn looks out over Mirror Lake with spectacular views of the lake and Adirondacks. Our room was large, comfortable, and beautiful. The Inn amenities include small lake front beach, indoor (heated) swimming pool, and the largest hot tub I've ever seen in my life. There are three dining options - upscale restaurant, casual bar (they share the same 4 diamond restaurant kitchen) and a waterfront pub. We spent time at all threes spots. Food and drinks at all were perfect. A great place to stay for a romantic getaway.
