To ritzy and too glamorous for the Town of Lake Placid, I said. Nothing negative about the establishment - I just thought, well - it's Lake Placid. Nothing survives long in Lake Placid. I was wrong. Amber Louise Boutique survived and outlasted several different coffee and ice cream shops in the very same Plaza. Kate reminded me of this when visiting Lake Placid last night with her little sister Rebecca. Owing a house here since 2002 - and in town for an event - we visited this quaint little boutique once again. Kate even signed up for a rewards card. Women's clothes, jewelry, accessories and a bunch of stuff for anyone else but me, my 6 and 11 year old didn't have a problem spending money. After all, it's Christmas and the kids are purchasing gifts for themselves and their mother. It didn't hurt that wine was being served with Christmas cookies for a "downtown Friday" type holiday shopping event. Great job and cute little boutique, Amber Louise. Well, where it's located is a cute plaza with historical murals. This store has a connected coffee shop to it. On the weekend there's a farmers market. Right beside the coffee shop is a dog friendly brewery.

According to the Blueberry Patch, they specialize in "Exquisite gifts for women and men, home…read moredecor, and baby accessories...plus a few items to pamper yourself!" I stumbled upon them in the Journal Plaza during a recent trip to Lake Placid and was pleasantly surprised by the large inventory of cool items. When you walk up they had a discount area that was 50 percent off. Inside the store some of my favorite items included the orange blossom scented candles from The Grove, the exquisite jewelry, succulents, kiwi and watermelon slices coasters, wish jar kits, Lake Girl T-shirts, map decor items of Lake Placid, and handbags. I saw many one of a kind items. If I have one small criticism it is that everything that was not on sale was very expensive. They did have some more sales in the store on jewelry and those items were very affordable. If you picked out a gift from here, I am sure the recipient would be very happy. Blueberry Patch has an eatery in the back called the Good News Cafe but it was closed during my visit. This is exactly the kind of store I love to browse around in. You can get a ton of ides for your home decor. If money is no object, you are going to love shopping here.

They seem motivated to help you find anything you're looking for whether or not they have it in their inventory. The shop was very clean and organized and it appears they continue to expand their space as needed and the prices seem fair. I definitely recommend stopping in if you're in the area and have some time to browse, you won't be disappointed.

On the day I visited people were going in and out of the gift store, the Blueberry Patch and sipping beers at Wet Dogs Brewing. You can dine at the Good News Cafe. Many other shops like the Chic Chick Boutique and restaurants are a few feet away from this plaza. Free street parking is available. Lake Placid Journal Plaza is on Main Street. It provides a centrally located gathering spot for events, dining, and shopping. It is also surrounded by the murals Lake Placid is known for. If you are in town you will want to check out all of the offerings in this cute outdoor space.

OReillys sold us the wrong oil filter and caused our engine to blow. We were stranded on the lake…read moreand had to be towed. We went back to store to tell what happened and see what they would do. They admitted they made a mistake but wouldn't help us with the Adamaged engine. Offered us oil and the CORRECT filter is all. We had to send engine off and cost us $5000. I think we will hire an attorney or file a claim in court. So upset! And yes we went to District to ask them as well. Be careful when asking for parts because what info they put in the computer and the part they give you may not be correct.
