According to the Blueberry Patch, they specialize in "Exquisite gifts for women and men, home decor, and baby accessories...plus a few items to pamper yourself!" I stumbled upon them in the Journal Plaza during a recent trip to Lake Placid and was pleasantly surprised by the large inventory of cool items. When you walk up they had a discount area that was 50 percent off. Inside the store some of my favorite items included the orange blossom scented candles from The Grove, the exquisite jewelry, succulents, kiwi and watermelon slices coasters, wish jar kits, Lake Girl T-shirts, map decor items of Lake Placid, and handbags. I saw many one of a kind items. If I have one small criticism it is that everything that was not on sale was very expensive. They did have some more sales in the store on jewelry and those items were very affordable. If you picked out a gift from here, I am sure the recipient would be very happy. Blueberry Patch has an eatery in the back called the Good News Cafe but it was closed during my visit. This is exactly the kind of store I love to browse around in. You can get a ton of ides for your home decor. If money is no object, you are going to love shopping here. read more

We were driving through town and went here because most other restaurants were closed. Boy did we luck out!! It's a store in the front and a sandwich shop in the back. Love the building and decor. We ordered turkey sandwich hot pressed with lettuce, tomatoes and avocado. The bread was warm and crisp in contrast with the cold turkey and veggies. We ordered the soup of the day which was cream of broccoli. It was perfectly seasoned and had little chunks of broccoli and carrots. Very fresh and you can tell it's all homemade. Absolutely adorable and the food is so fresh and delicious!! read more

Cute shop...terrible customer service. New to the area, I was excited to check this place out when they reopened after all the COVID closures but was quickly disappointed. When I entered the store, two gals were at the register chatting amongst themselves. It wasn't until a minute or two later did they look over to acknowledge another patron who had entered. It was obvious by the greeting that she was a returning customer. I browsed around for 20-30 minutes and not once was I acknowledged by any of the staff. I picked up a few items that I wanted to purchase and headed to the register. I had a couple questions about a few other items I was interested in as well. I stood there at the counter, products in hand and cash to spend, but again was ignored. After a few minutes of that, I set my items on the counter and left. Clearly, this little shop with items priced on the high side, in this tiny little town doesn't want or need new customers. Quite surprising since most other small businesses that had to close during the height of the virus took a financial hit and are doing all they can to bring new and old customers in. Having trained hundreds of people in top notch customer service, many times at 4 and 5 diamond resorts around the world, I realize my expectations are very high. However, greeting and acknowledging customers is customer service 101. As a small business owner myself, I am very passionate about supporting the little guys, but I am also mindful of spending my money with people who value their customers and want my business. I should make the distinction that the Blueberry Patch is the gift shop and the Good News Cafe is the cafe. Both businesses are 4-stars for me. Blueberry patch loses one star just because it is VERY expensive for Lake Placid. The stuff is super - just highly priced. The Good News Cafe is great, but it is SOOOOO slow. Sometimes I'm really craving something they make, but go elsewhere because I'm short on time and can't wait 20 minutes for a smoothie. If time and money were not factors, they would both be five stars all the way. read more

Yes, this place is still open & well worth a visit. They have lovely outside seating area with a big grassy area to welcome dogs & children tired from a long car ride. Lake Placid has many wonderful murals which you can see on the way to the restaurant & on the side of the building. The food was delicious & healthy, and the bathroom was very clean.
