After having paid, and upon document review, I found that there were errors in the paperwork, to include the incorrect vehicle and called to address it. I was told they corrected the vehicle and it was now $87 more. I explained they needed to honor their quote, but they refused, over $87. They do not care about their customers or what information they provide AND, I couldn't even get my own agent on the phone to address this. I DO NOT recommend Theiss Insurance.

Unfortunately, I am a livid green consumer when it comes to the enormous nuances in insuring flood versus homeowner/ hurricane and " other perils" damage, especially for coastal property. I have dealt with Chubb Insurance for 40 years with large homes antiques etc in NY, VA. And MN so this was all GREEK to me. With 20 years experience in consumer products Mktg I tackle finding insurance head on with expansive (7 different companies called) and thorough. " market research". Alicia I soon realized did not realize the depth of my ignorance, and so naturally did not ask a lot of questions. When I phoned her back one day, Marcia answered the phone and immediately confronted me with the question," what are you doing with Alicia". We are a tough nut of a customer because after acquiring the condo a few years ago from his family estate ( buy out of siblings), my husband moved in and decided he did not need insurance (!). Wrong. So Alicia graciously explained she could not go to 10 other insurance companies they represent and stated they were not responding as well. So this left us with just one insurance group. While working with her I was calling interviewing other agents as well and from them, learned about the new Florida laws that protect insurance companies even after a contract is signed, if they conduct a 4 point inspection later -- called a " point of claim " underwriting, they can drop the policy! Beware. I also learned that " Hurricane ". does not include water/ flood damage, and you can have a terrible storm with wind ( hurricane- homeowners policy) AND storm surge bringing rising water that can decimate walls furniture electrical panels etc ( flood insurance policy= anything damaged by water ). So I later learned from others that I need a lot of insurance for BOTH. The one policy she could offer me came in as the second highest in cost, and at that time I ignorantly was seeking just $15,000 in flood insurance, and $135,000 in homeowners coverage ( small 2 bedrm condo). This 2 week telephone conferencing project has been tough, peril less and unnerving !!! A lot is at stake when you move and reside (me, seasonally) in stormy Florida. If your property is older than the 1970's you may have aluminum wiring, polybutylene pipes. Etc etc. and the insurance policy even after accepting you, can reject your future claim if they find these and many other items in your damaged home. Yikes. Be thorough, educate yourself well. So, a 6-month policy is only good for the last four months, don't drive within the first two months or you'll be dropped should something happen, but you still must pay!
