This is the best plate of Tacos I've ever had, everything is super fresh and the worker was very nice!

Elote with no sour cream
Jon M.

In the area and wanted tacos.... But this place sorely missed the mark majorly. 1) I started with the elote with no sour cream. It was bland af. I love elote so that was sad. Most places put hot sauce, lemon/lime juice, chili powder, something to make it really good. All it was here was corn, a very little mayo, topped with powdered cheese that mostly came off when I pulled the spoon out, and that was it... So not elote at all, just unflavored corn with some mayo 2) the tacos. I am a huge fan of Street tacos and it's very much a craving, but these missed the mark as well. I ordered the bistek, Al pastor, pollo, and barbacoa. Most of the meat wasn't too bad, but the barbacoa was the most flavorless, dry, etc barbacoa that I've prob ever had (look at my reviews.... I've been to a LOT of taquerias). Also, who puts sliced cucumbers with tacos? Never seen that before 3) the hot sauce wasn't good even... The green wasn't bad, but very little flavor. The red was weird.. It was oily and bitter, with no other flavor

This is a small taco spot walking distance from the Denton Square. I tried the campechanos tacos and carne asada tacos and both were great. The food is priced well, tacos, rice, beans are good, and the people who work here are really nice. They have taco Tuesday special 10 tacos for $15 that I will definitely be back for with a larger group. Overall this is a good spot and you could eat here multiple times a week with the prices being so good!

Decided to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Ambros and I wasn't disappointed. Four tacos and rice and beans for $11! Can't beat that. I got Al pastor, chicken, carnitas, and Shrimp. Al pastor was the best. Salsas were tasty too. Got it to go, had everything I needed. Love them!

Perfect spot to scratch that authentic itch! Great service. Great menu! Had the fajitas and el pastor tacos. Would recommend both.

The staff was extremely kind and very quick to run out our food to us and give us everything we needed. The inside is small but if it's a nice day, sitting outside is lovely! The tacos were at a good price and tasted absolutely delicious! If you are looking for a good taco spot in Denton, I would highly recommend coming here!

Best tacos I've ever had. The best quality meat. If you have their secret recipe, let me know.

Steak with chorizo

Yep, I'd do that again. Cute spot with indoor/ outdoor dining and walk up window. The people could not be nicer and the food comes out quick and hot. The right blend of flavors/ grease/ fresh garnish my tacos were satisfying, I'd defiantly go back next time in the area.

Everything we ordered was delicious. The guacamole tasted super fresh, the queso was flavorful and came in a generous portion, and the salsa had just the right amount of kick without being too spicy. The only small hiccup was the chips situation--they give you big portions of guac, queso, and salsa, but the chips come in a tiny bowl. (Literally 10 chips) very sad for 6 people to fight over so little of chips. Not a huge deal, just a bit surprising. We also tried the margaritas--they had great flavor, though they tasted absent of tequila. Overall, we really enjoyed it and would definitely go back...maybe next time we bring our own chips! :)

If I could give La Fondita Mexican Restaurant six stars, I would legally change the rating system…read morejust to make it happen. Let me set the scene: I walked in expecting a casual meal and maybe a decent taco. What I got instead was a borderline spiritual awakening wrapped in foil and served with rice and beans. First of all -- the giant piña colada. When they say giant, they are not messing around. This thing arrived like it had its own gravitational pull. I'm pretty sure I saw a small family of tourists orbiting it. One sip and I was transported to a beach that doesn't even exist on any map -- coconutty, icy perfection with just enough kick to make me briefly consider texting my boss that I've moved to an island and won't be returning. Then came the beans. Listen carefully: I don't throw this word around lightly -- perfect. These beans were so good I genuinely paused mid-bite and just stared into the middle distance reevaluating my entire life. Creamy, rich, seasoned like someone's abuela whispered ancient secrets into the pot. I would trust these beans with my taxes, my passwords, and honestly my emotional well-being. And the corn tortillas... dear lord, the corn tortillas. I have had tortillas in many places, including at my own abuela's table -- and saying this feels like confessing a sin -- but these might be the best I've ever had besides abuela's. Warm, soft, slightly charred in all the right places, like they were handmade by someone who has been perfecting this craft since before I was born and possibly before electricity was invented. If I could build a house out of these tortillas, I would. I would live there. Happily. And then--just when I thought things couldn't escalate further--the huevos rancheros arrived. Eggs cooked to that perfect sweet spot where the yolk still has a little rebellion left in it, laid over a bed of everything that matters, all tied together with a sauce that refuses to be anything less than unforgettable. It's the kind of breakfast that makes you question why you ever settle for anything less in life. Comforting, bold, and somehow both rustic and wildly impressive at the same time. Everything else on the plate? Outstanding. Rice that actually deserves to be eaten and not just politely ignored. Salsa that sneaks up on you like, "oh this is nice--OH okay there it is." Service? Friendly, fast, and somehow emotionally supportive. Atmosphere? The kind of place where you immediately feel like a regular even if it's your first time. Final verdict: If you are anywhere within a 50-mile radius of Denton and you are not eating at La Fondita Mexican Restaurant, you are making a series of deeply questionable life choices. I came in hungry. I left changed.
