This was my first favorite Mexican food restaurant in Denton located in the parking lot of Kroger. The food is good definitely a step above move Mexican food joints in Denton. The service is always good we never have to wait too long to get our food or drinks. The place is always clean, I wouldn't say it's the most inviting place on the inside but it does give you a home feel. The salsa was homemade, not too spicy, but had a very nice, fresh flavor. We were starving when we arrived, and unfortunately devoured our food before I thought to take any pictures! We ordered the lunch fajitas and added a $6 skewer of 10 grilled shrimp. The shrimp were small, but seasoned well and everything was delicious! The service was very friendly, and there were several tvs showing sports. They were advertising drink specials, and I'd like to go back one evening to try out their margaritas. read more

Definitely Tex-Mex, has basic flavor that can be expected and good for carry out but don't think the service is worth tipping. Half the workers are courteous (the older waiter and one of the bus women) while a young man and the other female bus person are short. Been coming here for years .... Manny runs the restaurant and is the nicest guy. His staff is fantastic , all the servers are great. I've never had a bad experiance. Very consistent. The decor is very simple , this is more of a family restaurant not fancy. I'm husband loves the Tex and I love the Mex. He gets the chicken burrito or sour cream enchiladas. I get the asada tacos , or the steak asada or the corn taquitos. Also their tortilla soup is the best I've had in Texas and the filled churros are great. Mi Tata is the Tex-Mex restaurant that I have been looking for. I have not ordered anything that I did not like, although I must recommend the chili rellenos and anything that you can put their spicy jalapeno cheese sauce on. This little cafe is always busy but treats you as if they were just waiting for you to arrive. All of the sauces are house-made and actually taste distinct from each other. If you like a bit spicier salsa, their green salsa does not disappoint, but be prepared with water or one of their delicious margaritas! We always finish our meal with a caramel-filled churro and wonder why we did not start our meal with dessert. The prices are good, the service is better, and the food is outstanding! read more

We were looking for a Mexican restaurant near our house and decided to go here for lunch. It was my first time but my husband had been here before. When we walked in, the staff looked at us and barely acknowledged us. After we were seated, the service got better. The guy who brings out the chips and salsa was attentive but didn't speak much. Waitress was friendly and polite. Food was good but the salsa was a bit watery. My husband got the fajitas, our son got the cheese enchiladas and I got the shrimp enchiladas and all were good. We had lunch here today and the quality has taken a serious nose dive in the last 6 months... we ordered the guacamole appetizer for $6.99.... They brought out a tiny pile of lettuce and an ice cream scoop size of mashed avocado... the WTF. Hubby had carne asada that was meat in a clear liquid like soup... asada means gravy... this was brown water... and gross. I had chicken enchiladas that were ok. The sour cream sauce on top is just melted sour cream... no flavor or sauce really. Lunch for two with no alcohol was $45 before tip. The quality was a $20 lunch tops... which sucks because I used to order take out all the time. read more

Nice place and great service. The Carne Guisada wasn't what I am accustomed to, but the way they made it wasn't bad at all. Very lean and tender fall apart meat chunks , potatoes and a very good tasting flavor close to what Carne Guisada with brown gravy tastes like. And a somewhat thick and chunky salsa with nice kick of hot. They started us of with chips and each person gets a bowl of salsas. Refried beans and Spanish rice was perfect with the salsas heat. Also my wife had the cheese enchiladas and she said they were delicious. The only thing I think could've been better was bigger fluffier flour tortillas. Although they were not in anyway bad tortillas. I'm from Corpus Christi and I think the #1 Mexican food capital of the world for down home Tex mex. Unfortunately we weren't impressed with any of the 3 dishes we tried at Mi Tata. My husband & I felt that there is much better quality & options nearby or worth it to drive a little further. The beans & rice were not as flavorful as we are used to, the side salad seemed low quality, the chips are from a bag not made on site or warm & the salsa was as very hot. I stood for awhile after entering before deciding to grab my own menu. I walked to the bar. I figured the bartender could take my to-go order since clearly there was no one to seat or greet customers walking in. The bartender mumbled something to me before turning her back to me. She later took my order. She was far from friendly. The lid on my soup was severely cracked. I had a grocery bag of spilled soup when I got home. The crunchy taco was soggy. The chips taste like they've been contaminated with cleaner. This place needs some serious improvement. read more

Mi Taza have some of the best tortilla chips and salsa I've ever had at a mexican restaurant. They were quite busy when we came on a Friday night, the bar seemed real busy and lot's of people waiting for a table went to the bar first. They must have some real good margharitas. The service was extraordinary throughout our meal, even though they were quite busy they made sure our drinks were refilled at all times and that we had enough salsa and chips. We tried their cheese sauce which was pretty good but I personally favor queso and the type of cheese they use in queso. I tried their Carne Asada which was pretty good. It didn't seem like it was skirt steak. I prefer skirt steak or rib eye in Carna Asada. It was well flavored and it came with salad and other toppings. The rice and refried beans were good. People seem to rave about their street tacos, I will try that next time we go here. read more
