    Carne Asada Tacos 5/5

This place is a legit hole in the wall; a must trh gem of a shop in some random corner of Denton! The location does look a little sketchy, and it is super small inside with very little room to sit on a busy night. But these are quick bites, so you're not going to be sitting there for hours at a time, so as expected. Ambiance: 1/5 The service is great! The people working there were super polite and were quick at bussing tables as soon as someone got up so it would be free for the next person. Service: 5/5 The prices are good for the portion sizes you get. The meat to tortilla ratio is 2:1, pretty much. So in other words, you're getting your money's worth! I've been in DFW for about 1 year and this is basically #1 on my list for authentic street tacos. Not tex-mex that you find everywhere...authentic street tacos! Food: 5/5 I actually came back a week later because they were so good. Definitely will be returning often!

This small Authentic Mexican restaurant is a very small place in Denton. The exterior and interior are not fantastic but they prepare their food from the scratch and fresh too. They have the best Enchiladas . I recommend but don't expect a luxurious surroundings.

Got delivery through DoorDash. Fast and everything I would need was there. Chicken was dry. The salsas helped a bit, but both were red & spicy so that over powered the taste of the chicken. Lots of onion and cilantro, which I loved. Wish there was extra lime for 5 tacos; the 2 didn't go very far. I also got elote which was alright. It was kind of flat; El Taco H has a fantastic elote that's hard to beat and naturally what I compared it to. Some tajin and more cotija cheese would've made it much better; ratio was off. It wasn't terrible, it wasn't amazing. Wouldn't order it again. I'd like to try something else from here.

Como mexicana, pocos lugares con auténtico sabor mexicano. As a Mexican woman, few places with the authentic Mexican flavor.

Tortillas La Sabrocita may not look like much from the outside but WOW the food here is delicious and fresh! The best hole-in-the-wall Mexican spot in Denton that is open 24/7! Homemade tortillas and chips make the nachos the BOMB. They load the nachos up with meat, cheese, guac, sour cream, beans, and jalapeños. Highly recommend trying something new and not a "traditional sit down Mexican restaurant". You won't be disappointed!

    #1 meal.

The food looked good. Tasted ok, but I could not get over the big nasty hole in the wall of the booth we sat at. The rest of the place was not the best.... Also, the overpowering smell of fabuloso. I will never come back here.

Real deal place right here. Pretty small inside so I can peak times can be a challenge. The food was fresh. My flautos were fresh and amazing. Refried bean and rice so good. So to the salsa...amazing warm temperature but awesome spicy. Service was wonderful. Appreciate going to a real deal place and easy English. Not required but nice.

I love these chips and salsa!

I'm not changing the rating, but I have a lot more to say than I did in my last review. There are a lot of great taquerias in Denton that have my favorite of one thing or another. I'm actually obsessed with keeping track of who has the best pollo or barbacoa or carnitas. In truth, this location doesn't have the best of any of the meats. However, everything here is very, very good! So instead of having awesome al pastor, but terrible barbacoa, you'll be pretty satisfied with everything you get here. In addition, this place has the best overall price AND they have the BEST chips and salsa in town! Really, they could be 5 stars if it weren't for the extremely different experience you get on the weekends (3 star) versus a weekday (5 star). Almost the entire menu is between $5.99-$7.99 with only a couple of items being higher. They also sell meat by the pound and a la carte items, which I take advantage of when I want a snack. They have pretty decent agua fresca, but the only other beverage options are cans of soda. In my opinion, the best deal is the weekday taco special. For $5.99 you get 3 tacos, rice, beans and a coke. I usually get this and dine in, so I also enjoy the chips and salsa. It's such a good deal and I always leave full. I always get 3 different meats so I have some variety. There is an upcharge for flour tortillas (but the corn is good) and there is also an upcharge if you get this special on the weekend. The chips are their tortillas (which they make in house, of course) that are cut into pieces and fried up. They are thick and hearty, which are my favorite type of tortilla chips and have the best crisp to them! The salsa is delicious, it's served warm and is a bit spicy and has great flavor. It's not overly sweet or heavy on the tomato flavor like a lot of places, it's just flavor and heat. I think this may be the only taqueria in town to offer complimentary chips and salsa to dine in customers, and they really are my favorite in Denton. Weekday afternoon and evening service has always been quick and polite here. The quality of the meats have always been on point during these visits as well. It's more likely that you will find an open table or a table that will open soon so you can take advantage of dining in. Considering it's 4 booths and 4 tables, that's great! Everything about my weekday visits have been perfect. I've only been here on the weekends a handful of times. You would think the line wouldn't get too crazy since they are 24 hours on the weekend. That would make me think people would spread out their visits, but nope! No matter what time I come- morning, afternoon, late, off peak there is a long line during the weekend. Additional weekend notes- they are always short handed, it's less likely you will get a table (a lot less likely), if you do get a table it's 50/50 that they will have time to bring you chips and salsa, wait times are a little longer (though not unreasonable). My biggest issue with the weekend visits is the quality of the meat. I want to make it clear that they are CONSTANTLY banging out orders non stop when I come on the weekends, so I get it and I understand, but it's just not the same. I have had chunks of fat or gristle and sometimes the meat has a chewy texture on these visits. It's not every time by any means, but when it happens to me, it's only on the weekend. It's still a good meal, just less enjoyable. To be clear, I have had weekend visits that are just as good as a weekday visit, but I don't come on the weekends too often because I know there is a chance I will come across the above mentioned issues. However, I don't even think twice if I'm coming on a Wednesday, because I know everything will be great. Hey, if this place was only open Monday through Friday, I would definitely give them 5 stars for the quality of the food and drinks and it being such a fantastic value! I would give 6 stars for the chips and salsa! Unfortunately, that's not the case, so I have to factor in the 'still good, but not fantastic' visits as well. It's still a great spot for a meal regardless and I will continue to give them my business. This isn't in my top 3, but I would say it's in my top 4 for being good overall, and my top choice for overall value (and chips/salsa) because I love a good deal! Check them out!

Everything we ordered was delicious. The guacamole tasted super fresh, the queso was flavorful and came in a generous portion, and the salsa had just the right amount of kick without being too spicy. The only small hiccup was the chips situation--they give you big portions of guac, queso, and salsa, but the chips come in a tiny bowl. (Literally 10 chips) very sad for 6 people to fight over so little of chips. Not a huge deal, just a bit surprising. We also tried the margaritas--they had great flavor, though they tasted absent of tequila. Overall, we really enjoyed it and would definitely go back...maybe next time we bring our own chips! :)

If I could give La Fondita Mexican Restaurant six stars, I would legally change the rating system…read morejust to make it happen. Let me set the scene: I walked in expecting a casual meal and maybe a decent taco. What I got instead was a borderline spiritual awakening wrapped in foil and served with rice and beans. First of all -- the giant piña colada. When they say giant, they are not messing around. This thing arrived like it had its own gravitational pull. I'm pretty sure I saw a small family of tourists orbiting it. One sip and I was transported to a beach that doesn't even exist on any map -- coconutty, icy perfection with just enough kick to make me briefly consider texting my boss that I've moved to an island and won't be returning. Then came the beans. Listen carefully: I don't throw this word around lightly -- perfect. These beans were so good I genuinely paused mid-bite and just stared into the middle distance reevaluating my entire life. Creamy, rich, seasoned like someone's abuela whispered ancient secrets into the pot. I would trust these beans with my taxes, my passwords, and honestly my emotional well-being. And the corn tortillas... dear lord, the corn tortillas. I have had tortillas in many places, including at my own abuela's table -- and saying this feels like confessing a sin -- but these might be the best I've ever had besides abuela's. Warm, soft, slightly charred in all the right places, like they were handmade by someone who has been perfecting this craft since before I was born and possibly before electricity was invented. If I could build a house out of these tortillas, I would. I would live there. Happily. And then--just when I thought things couldn't escalate further--the huevos rancheros arrived. Eggs cooked to that perfect sweet spot where the yolk still has a little rebellion left in it, laid over a bed of everything that matters, all tied together with a sauce that refuses to be anything less than unforgettable. It's the kind of breakfast that makes you question why you ever settle for anything less in life. Comforting, bold, and somehow both rustic and wildly impressive at the same time. Everything else on the plate? Outstanding. Rice that actually deserves to be eaten and not just politely ignored. Salsa that sneaks up on you like, "oh this is nice--OH okay there it is." Service? Friendly, fast, and somehow emotionally supportive. Atmosphere? The kind of place where you immediately feel like a regular even if it's your first time. Final verdict: If you are anywhere within a 50-mile radius of Denton and you are not eating at La Fondita Mexican Restaurant, you are making a series of deeply questionable life choices. I came in hungry. I left changed.

We started things off right with chips, jalapeño ranch dip, and queso, which is honestly the only proper way to begin a Chuy's visit. The queso was warm, creamy, and exactly what my soul needed, and the chips with that jalapeño ranch were the cherry on top. Speaking of cherries, we also got the Tito's cherry limeade, and it was the spring we didn't know we needed to bounce. Crisp, cold, a little dangerous in the cutest way, and honestly adorable -- the perfect little kick to start the meal. Our waiter was top notch: kind, attentive, and somehow always there right when we needed something without ever hovering. That kind of service makes the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. For food, we ordered the Baja shrimp tacos, and when I say the shrimp is BIG, I mean it (and no, we're definitely not out here flattering any men ). The shrimp was cooked perfectly, flavorful, and absolutely the star of the plate. They came with rice and beans, and even though I forgot to ask for the cilantro lime rice , I was still super happy with everything. We also got the steak fajita Tex-Mex burrito bowl, and every single bite just kept getting better. The steak was tender, packed with flavor, and once it all got mixed together with the salsa and scooped up on the crispy tostada, it was perfection. This meal was such a good reminder of why Chuy's became a favorite for me in the first place -- fun atmosphere, great food, amazing service, and one of those dinners that just hits from the first chip to the last bite.
