My first appointment (early December) was cancelled with less than 24 hours notice due to the physician's schedule. I lost a day of PTO due to that, but rescheduled for later in the month. For that appointment, I sent my updated insurance information by email, as they requested. Despite having 3.5 weeks to confirm, they called me 45 minutes before closing the day before my rescheduled appointment of time to say that, not only were they not able to confirm my insurance, but that my insurer told them I did not have an active plan (I do). Because the clinic called me less than an hour before closing, I was unable to connect with my insurer by phone to get the clinic confirmation. I ended up cancelling my appointment due to frustration and lack of any options provided by the most clinic's administrators. They would not allow me to bring proof of coverage to my appointment, a typical practice for any other reputable physician's office.

I never saw his face, only heard his voice in my foggy, just-waking-up condition. I asked where I was going, and he encouragingly said "to a nice, comfy room where everyone will take care of me." That was the sweetest thing to hear after the stress and anxiety of a traumatic surgery. Everyone checked my wrist band and answered my questions without hesitation. Top notch care from start to finish. I would give more stars if I could.

Cannot do.COVID has shut down surgery. Was Feb 2020. Recall in May. OK for surgery.Only me allowed in Surgicenter. General anesthesia. Non weight bareing 2 months Had injection preop to numb my operative site. Hmmm Was given by Anestesiologins using floor to locate nerve. Stuff happens. My tendon is fine. Compensating for numbness in foot. Painful at end of day. Ankle has edema up 2 inch thick Now I know to demand MRI for any chronic pain. My right leg is 1 inch longer after AGH did hip replacement for arthritis. A complication. Now I have to wear a lift in right athletic shoe. Right anterior hip surgery sure left a scar. All docs cavalier. Just the surgery can do this. Lots of nice shoes I'll never wear. At least no more cane.

As far as dental office visits go, my recent visit went really well. Although I have been to Pittsburgh Oral Surgery for prior dental work this was my first visit to their Fort Couch Road office. Normally I go to their Monroeville, PA office, rescheduled my appointment because of work related scheduling problems. Arrived approx. 7:00 AM for an 8:30 AM appointment and was warmly greeted and made to feel "right at home." The person working in the office asked me to update my existing on-file information. I asked if there was a place in the building to get a cup of coffee, she promptly offered to make me a cup; it was very good and appreciated. After returning the paper work a short wait ensued and then a dental assistant escorted me back to the place where the procedure would take place. The room was exceptionally clean with a great view out of a large window; all of the furniture and equipment seemed up-to-date and in a good state of repair. Next, I met Dr. Eric Smiga; he greeted me with a great smile and positive demeanor. He explained the upcoming procedure, reviewed my paperwork and x-ray, examined my tooth, discussed the potential implant, injected some painkiller, made sure I was comfortable and said he would return after a few minutes. In the interim, another person came in to explain costs and insurance terms & conditions; a very transparent and upfront process -- no surprises. Shortly thereafter Dr. Smiga returned for the "main event." He gave me an "insurance" injection of painkiller and proceeded to remove the tooth. Before I knew it, the procedure was complete and the dental assistant was explaining post extraction procedures that should be followed. Someone in the office called my prescription (an antibiotic) into my local pharmacy and I was good to go. Before leaving the office, arranged for a 1-week follow-up appointment with Dr. Smiga at their Monroeville office to make sure everything was healing the way it should. Someone, don't remember whom, suggested taking an over the counter pain pill as a proactive defense against pain when the procedure painkiller wore off. No problem had some Tylenol in the car. After arriving at my car, took a pain pill from my backpack and glanced at my watch before heading off to work -- it was 8:20 AM. I was out of there before my appointment was scheduled to start. Follow-up; took one Extra Strength Tylenol three times 6-hours apart after the extraction and have remained pain free, no issues. Had my follow-up visit this morning -- no problems, everything looks good. I don't think anyone looks forward to going to the dentist, but from beginning to end, Pittsburgh Oral Surgery made this a very positive experience.

I had the scheduling card with me and they still were angry at me. Not exactly how you want to be sedated during. That doctor was gone the next year. Sadly when these practices get too big the patient suffers due to a lack of care

Everyone from the nurses, the pain management doctor, to the anesthesiologist were so friendly! They had me laughing and at one point I almost forgot what I was there for. I've been to Forbes for blood work, the surgery center, xrays, the cancer center and the emergency department. The closest to a negative experience was the ED and honestly, the staff there were great, it was just a crazy long wait. (Forbes is a trauma center, so the amount of people in the ER waiting room is not a great indication of how long you might wait). For example, I was there with my daughter. When the intake person realized just how long we would likely be waiting, they contacted Children's Hospital for us, got us in the line there and made sure we had things like emesis bags for the drive over. Every department I've been in the staff has been courteous, empathetic and attentive. The hospital itself is well maintained and clean. Obviously no one really wants to go to a hospital, but I feel fortunate that we have such a great option so close to home.

The staff in the office are very nice and super helpful anytime I need anything or call. Dr Berstein is great and a very good listener. I could not imagine going to any other Neurologist after going to Dr Berstein. She is great , She has a great personality and is super friendly. I will continue going to Dr Berstien.
