This review is partly for AMC Braintree, and partly for my AMC stubs account. First off, the folks at the Braintree theatre do their best to be helpful. Kudos to them! Second, the new recliners are already showing wear and the theatre needs to reupholster some of their more used seats. Having purchased tickets in advance, you have a specified seat and are stuck if you get a bad one. I have had issues with my AMC stubs account two times in a row. This has as much to do with the online site as anything else. The AMC response to my email was rude, did not address my issue and suggested i go back to the theatre to discuss my issues. NO MORE AMC STUBS for me, ever....and i definitely will choose other theatres in the future...... read more

Loved this theater! Very rarely while I am on vacation do I get the itch to go to the movies, but today was an exception. Hubby and I visited this theatre to watch Straight Outta Compton and we were amazed at the amenities. While we did not purchase any snacks, popcorn or beverages, the easy seat selection process and the reclining super roomy and comfortable chairs was the icing on the cake. While the patrons weren't the most respectful in their private conversations or seat movements during the movie, we throughly enjoyed our time at this AMC theatre! read more

This used to be the movie theater that you go to when you don't want to see anyone...it was ALWAYS empty. So I was more than surprised when I arrived for a matinee and found the whole place renovated! Renovations: they updated the lobby....self service kiosk. They also have reserved seating! Concession stands are more inviting and they have a lot of new snacks. Now the biggest turn off about this theater was the seats. The set up was all off and didn't look very nice at all. The chairs were hard and uncomfortable. BUT...they didn't hold back when they decided to renovate the inside! Electronic reclining seats that are wide and comfortable! I fell in love and can say this was the most comfortable I've been while watching a movie at a theater. Will be my new favorite theater! read more

Braintree AMC theaters were horrible back in the day! They renovated not too long ago and now is currently my favorite movie theater to go to. Randolph movie theaters is a thing of the past, kinda.. This place a gaining a lot more popularity due to the fact that they put leather relining seats in all their rooms. They are comfy for sure! Grab some popcorn, a drink, lay back, relax and enjoy the movie. The seats take up a lot of room and the room itself isn't that big so they can't really accommodate much each movie. This causes frequent sold out tickets when popular movies come out. The lobby is too open and not much going on, only if they added an arcade or something.. This would make it more entertaining for when you want to do something to make time pass by, before your movie starts. For this reason, i give them a 4 star and not 5 stars. read more

Went to the movies here last evening. I can remember when this theater was renovated and put in comfortable recliner seats. It was the theater I preferred when meeting up with friends for a movie. I'm guessing it's been 5 or so years ago since the renovations. Well the wear and tear has taken a toll. Seats we were in did not recline and being assigned seating there were no other chairs available. Leather was completely worn out on my seat. This has happened the last several times here where at least one chair for someone in my party didn't work. At $15 a ticket and popcorn and a drink costing another $13 - you'd think they'd at least have enough to maintain. Men's restroom also had a non working urinal which was non working a month ago. Right now prefer to travel the extra few miles to Randolph's Showcase which seems to always be clean and comfortable. read more

Easily the worst movie going experience I've had. I've given this theatre 3 strikes and it's failed on almost every single level. I consider myself and avid movie-goer, I try to see one film per week, but this theatre makes that impossible. Should you buy your tickets in advanced, yes. I've been burned by this every single time. Even when I've shown up to see movies alone. The reason why....the big seats cuts back in the audience size that can fit in the theatre. Thee few times I was able to even get into a show here I was amazed at how little the rooms actually sat. Don't get me started on the chairs. While cool in theory they are just an added novelty that distracts you from the movie as people constantly recline and move around. This is nothing against the staff as they are typically helpful. I just think the idea and execution of a "home theatre" is mediocre and makes going to the movies a much bigger hassle than it needs to be. read more

I've been here many times for years now and I am very pleased with the reclining seats- as we can all feel comfortable while enjoying the movie. However, it is such a dirty movie theater. I was waiting for the cleaners to clean- and they did take a while. However, the seats were still incredibly dirty and there were popcorn spills everywhere on the floor still- what were they doing while the room was "cleaning"?? It's kind of gross knowing that another person is laying on my seat and there are oily popcorn residues on the seat that I'll be sitting on. All of the rooms also have a weird smell every time I go in- and unfortunately not a pleasant smell. But I still come here cause of the reclining seats and it is the closest one to home! read more

It's nice to see a place pick themselves up from the ashes and become kick-ass. My g/f and I avoided this place for years in favor of just about any other place. But this summer, on a whim, she decided to go see a movie by herself. She comes back and tells me about their renovations. They now have big recliners! So we decided to go see Captain Phillips a few months ago. I was hooked! I loved the seats! And assigned seating is awesome. You can show up at the last minute and not have to look around and climb over people to get a seat. Even with the seats reclined and the footrest up there is plenty of space to get by. The matinees are a great deal. Around 6.50 a ticket. The seating makes all the difference in the world as we're more comfortable then we would be at home. We've seen some great movies there recently and it's turned into a Sunday morning regular event for us as opposed to going to the movies maybe once a month. Minus a star for the lack of employees when you need to pick up your tickets at the window. It can take a while due to people picking their seats right there and referring to their families to see how they feel. Pro-tip...Get your seats online before-hand for the best experience. They are getting so popular now you may be disappointed with the seats you get (i.e. front row) if you don't do it earlier. Thank you AMC Braintree! read more

I don't think I will ever go elsewhere to catch a movie... Other than my living room! Every seat is a recliner. Super comfortable!! This is especially important to me because I have a hip injury that makes sitting for prolonged period of time difficult. These seats make it doable for me. These seats also made it possible for me to see a movie I was simply dying to see one week after foot surgery. I was able to watch the movie with my foot elevated the whole time as if I were at home. The price is cheap when you compare it to all the de lux movie theatres popping up for roughly $20 per person! read more

Lobby area was what you could expect of any megaplex movie theater. Pop corn, pretzels, muss arena sticks and soda. Surprise was when at the actual room they had leather recliner seats that could turn into almost a bed. So comfortable. When you purchase your ticket you can select your seat. So went to see Oz, but it was sold out for our first choice. There was another one in exactly one hour. So we decided to wait it out. And that was an excellent decision. There's one reason: the reclining seats in theater #2. There are really few words to describe this level of comfort at the movies. I mean folks had their shoes off and were LAID OUT! I've never seen this before. I mean leg room was aplenty. People are sleeping on Braintree's AMC. There's the convenient parking, and the 12-15 minute ride from Boston (Dorchester). Where do I begin.... From checkin 1 person at register assigning tickets. Took us 15min to get tickets. Meanwhile 2 kiosk machines out of 3 were not working. Assigned seats is ridiculous. You should be able to seat where ever. Filthy lobby floors . The theater show before us was disgustingly dirty and poor job cleaning. The young gentleman cleaning used the same broom sweeping the floors were used to clean the seats. CONS - Awkwardly prolonged squeaky noise when reclining seats or returning them to their upright position. - Cleanliness can be hit-or-miss. - Skip the concession stand when it's super crowded. It's a hot mess! Ticket prices for adults are around $13. I believe matinee prices are about half that. It is probably safer to purchase tickets online so you can be sure of getting the seats you want, especially if it's for a new or popular movie, but that usually means incurring those sucky online service charges. But considering that ticket prices for regular seats in other theaters are going for around the same price, I'd rather bring my blanket and come here. read more

This place is kind of a disaster on a busy night. Maybe I'm old school, but I liked the days of yore when I used to spend 20 dollars on popcorn and soda and they would hand me buttered popcorn and a cup full of soda. Now, you wait in line to get popcorn and an empty cup, then wait in line again to fill it up at the three soda machines they have, then you wait in line again to put butter on your popcorn, and the soda covers, straws, and napkins are in another place. We were with a child and this was really difficult to navigate with so many people in the small lobby. They renovated the theaters, so the place is crazy busy, but they definitely can't keep up with the demand at the snack counter. The icy machine was also broken. But, the seats are assigned, so you don't have to worry about getting there super early, and they are SO comfortable. They basically recline almost into a bed. If they can get the lobby mess figured out, this place could be great!! read more

This is the best movie theater in Boston! It's the only one I would ever go to and I've been to them all! It's busy but because it's a bit far out from the city it's less busy than the more accessible ones. The difference here is that they have assigned seats and they aren't just any seats they are the most comfortable roomy recliner chairs!!! They are absolutely heaven. Movies, popcorn and putting your feet up! There's nothing better. You purchase your tickets in advance and no one can steal your seats... So as long as you buy in advance you will always get to sit exactly where you want to sit. The other awesome thing is that the popcorn station has do it yourself butter...! I hate to admit it but I love butter and having a pour your own station makes me look like less of a slob because I don't have to ask the person behind the station to keep pouring it on. So when your in Boston head over to fandango get your tickets, get your popcorn and pour on all the butter you want and enjoy!!! Also free refills on large drinks and popcorn!!! read more

It's funny that there is a whole new listing for this theatre since the make over. AMC put a lot of money into all their theaters and it shows, this place looks great and it's an 100% improvement. Great place to see a movie, terrible place to access. The place has one entrance and exit tucked behind a bunch of restaurants and across from the mall. Maybe it being a Saturday was my mistake but exiting was brutal. The good news. The place has great sound, fantastic recliners and all the treats you desire while watching movies. I used to go here years ago in high school, and it's located in a convenient location directly across the street from the South Shore Plaza. The seats are a Five all day! Best seats I've ever been in, and the theater itself is nice, but still could use some updates. Typical food selections, but above average. Just saw Gone Girl and had a seat in the corner due to it being sold out and luckily was still able to enjoy the movie. Will be back for sure! read more

Awesome theater. Pick your seating assignment when you order your tickets, then settle into the large, comfortable, fully reclinable seats. The armrests of the seats go up too, if you're there with someone special. The 4K projection systems are fantastic and far superior to the 2K projectors some other theaters have settled for. I've been here a few times and everytime it is a great movie-viewing experience. I hope more theaters begin to adopt this type of comfort as it becomes harder to get people off their couches and away from their large flatscreens. read more

This rating is low for a solitary reason--The PARKING LOT and ACCESS ROAD are LIKE SUPERGLUE-----driving in and out of the place when other movies are finished is absolutely insane-took 40 minutes to exit. People yelling at each other, bumping bumpers, middle fingers and this long slow slow drive in and triple worse out. Took the cake. Inside the theater is fine--great seats, great sound, good screens...but if going to movies is an escape from life, one will be sorely reminded of life right after the credits. Go to any other big theater if you value your time or low stress......this was a Saturday in fairness to the date/time..but this road....come on--they couldn't have routed traffic better? Went to Braintree Cinema to try and use a gift card. Upon arrival for a 4:10PM early show both ticket counters had lines with only 1 ticket worker in each booth. The lines were also held up because you have to preselect your seats which slows down the lines considerably. Why not have an additional ticket taker for Saturdays when all the kids are off from school? The answer is CHEAP. We were paying the regular prices for a 4PM show so I would expect better service! The recliners are nice but not worth 20 minutes in line to buy a stupid ticket. Please lower my prices and give me back wooden seats like the movie theaters had in the 60's. All this creature comfort is a bunch of crap because it does not change the plot of the movie. $24.50 for 2 tickets at 4PM = Rip Off!!! read more

Never knew the theater before renovations as we always frequented another one. We went here for something different and found the theater to be clean (for a theater) and the seats are great. Someone mentioned how often do they clean them? Probably just a much as the cloth ones at another nearby competitor. I will definitely be back here, and I LOVE the soda machine. I definitely agree with need for more ticket windows filled. A couple times the lines were crazy. I definitely agree with buying ahead. read more

I live down the street from SSP, so I live fairly close to this theater. Before all the upgrades and renovations made, I used to just go to the theater in Randolph. The new upgrades definitely make it a nicer looking theater, however the assigned seating has its ups and downs. On the upside I don't have to worry about someone taking my seat and I guess that makes it easier for the staff to know who's "movie hopping." But it sucks that if you have a group of friends to watch a movie you basically have to buy your tickets in advanced so you can reserve your seats next to each other or else you'll be scattered around the theater. I rarely ever buy any snacks because they're so expensive! I usually just sneak in my own. Their upgrades and improvements definitely attracted more customers than before. read more

This is a really solid movie theater. Yeah, the concessions are way too expensive, but we all get it. That's how a theater makes their money. Wah wah, boo-hoo...it is what it is. What makes this great is the assigned seating and the epic reclining seats that are so awesomely comfy that you feel like you are in your living room (well, if your living room is filled with sixteen year old's groping each other in the back and inappropriately young children talking incessantly to their parents). Love this place! The recliners are super comfortable and if you are going with somebody you'd like to cozy up to, you can simply lift the armrest and you've got a love seat. It is expensive though. I believe it's upwards of $12or $13 for an adult ticket. The only catch is that you absolutely must select a seat online and purchase your ticket ahead of time, or else you'll run the risk of not having a seat or getting stuck in a corner. read more

My go to theater! The comfortable seats are very great quality. Many theaters advertise having comfortable reclining seats but tend to not be the most comfortable. The seats here in Braintree are perfect for comfortable reclining and even make cuddling up with a date very convenient! Screen size is perfect and the the number of seats in each theater helps avoid the feeling of crowdedness (which often comes with loudness). The food is standard movie theater food but as an AMC Stubs member (HIGHLY recommend) I get a free upgrade on all popcorn and drinks. The dine in option is SUPER convenient, though there are plenty of fast food and restaurant options nearby. There is a large parking lot making driving the best and easiest option. Unfortunately public transportation is not the way to go with this theater. read more

Wow, this theater is amazing. I went here on 6/28/13 to watch Man of Steel. The seats here are amazing. Full reclining leather seats that are spacious. Each row maybe had about 10-12 seats and the whole theater had about maybe 8 rows. I did not feel cramped or anything about this it was so relaxing. It was so relaxing that the stranger sitting next to me fell asleep during the whole movie and was snoring. That was a LOL moment. The other thing that's pretty good about this place is tickets were 12.50, which is way cheaper compared to Boston. The pop corn is good here too, because it was salty. I took away 1 star because this theater tends to attract a very "unique" crowd that I would get annoyed with sharing a theater with. read more

Upon purchasing the tickets, we were asked to choose our seats at the ticket booth. Apparently, there's designated seating now which was a little different than what we were used to but pretty cool. It was a good thing it wasn't busy at 10:30am on a Monday so plenty of options left. We went with "E" smack dab in the middle ("A" row being the first row from the screen). As you enter into the theater room, the letters will be located on the floor leading you to your seats. We love the oversized recliners! Very much enjoyed being able to sit back and kick up our feet without being in anyone's way. Had to take away 1 star because of the food. I'm not a fan of prepackaged nachos. The old school way of serving it is better in my opinion. Cleanliness is top notch! Bathroom is very clean and well kept. Great job in that dept. Overall: 4.5 out of 5 star! read more
